Getting The Current Theme From The Web.config?

Sep 25, 2010

I need to read the theme defined in the web.config. I've had a play with the following:

Label1.Text = System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["theme"];

Web Forms :: Use Theme Folder In Current Directory

Jul 1, 2010

I have a root directory in which I have many sub directories. Each of those subdirectories has its own project, webconfig.ini file, etc. I added a Theme directory to each of the projects in the subfolders. This worked correctly until recently when my webhost changed something with my websites because of a malisious attack on them. I don't know what they changed (nor will they tell me) but it no longer picks up the themes in the sub-folders rather it use the theme directory in the main root. How can I tell my app to use the theme directory in the same directory that it lives in rather than using the one from the parent directory?

C# - How To Change Theme Via Web.Config On The Fly

Sep 29, 2010

I have a web-application with more than 5 themes. Each themes covers a completely different style for different customers. whenever we publish a new version of our application we send it for all of customers.

We specify theme in web.config file in <Page> tag. like

<page theme="Theme1" /> // or Theme2 for second customer.

with this approach we easily change the style of application from each other without writing codes which needs a new publish for each one.

With changing the theme="Theme1". nothing change and we didn't write a code in application , so why changing theme don't change the theme and we need a new publish?

we want to change it in web.config or somewhere else and with changing it the theme change without needing a new publish for each one.

Update :

I Publish Once and then copy the published version for each customer (5 times) then in each web.config file I change the theme="CustomerTheme". but only the theme which was active in publish process is usable in all of 5 versions and other 4 themes are un-usable Actually the main question is that why changes in Web.Config need a different publish while it is XML and do not need a complie. I should Add this note that, App_Theme include all of 5 themes so that all of them Compiles and are ready to use

This is the way I publish the application

Update 2

here IFound the exact problem reported by someone else. he resolve the problem but I can't underestand how he resolved this Issue.

Setting The Page Theme Outside Of The Web.config?

Oct 16, 2010

I'm using a flash app to upload images (EAFlashUpload - http://www.easyalgo.com/eaflashupload.aspx) which works great, but there's a problem.For reasons beyond my understanding, if a theme (page theme = "white") is declared in the web.config, it doesn't work correctly; even if there is nothing in the theme folder at all! Oddly though, it's happy if the theme is set at the page level. Problem is, I don't want to have to hard code the page theme into every page. Is there another place I can set the page theme? I've tried in the code behind of the master page (pre_int), and also adding a web user control with some code behind to the master page.

Web Forms :: Setting Theme In Web.Config Location And Intellisense?

Mar 9, 2010

I have my theme for each folder set in the web.config, but on design I have no access to the css or skins for that page unless I add them in the page directive, then upon rendering in html, the page shows 2 references to the same css file.

So for design purpose do I have to reference the file, then delete the references after I finish designing the page? why does the editor not recognize the web.config and reference the proper theme?

RenderAction Not Finding Action Method In Current Controller In Current Area?

Mar 15, 2010

I'm creating an ASP.NET MVC 2 (RTM) project that uses areas. The Index action of the Home controller of one area needs to use RenderAction to generate a sub-section of the page. The action called is also defined in the same Home controller. So the call should just be:

<% Html.RenderAction("List") %>

However, I get an exception:A public action method 'List' was not found on controller 'RareBridge.Web.Areas.Events.Controllers.HomeController'.

Note that I'm not in the "Events" area! I'm in a completely different area. If I remove the "Events" home controller, then the exception still occurs but names a different controller (still not the one I want it to call).

I've also tried providing the controller name and area to the RenderAction method, but the same exception occurs. What is going on here?

BTW: I am using Autofac as my IoC container

Web Forms :: Find Current URL Of Page During Code Behind Submission (NOT Current Web App URL)

Aug 18, 2010

I am looking for a way to figure out the current URL that the page is currently on (NOT what the asp.net page currently is, but where the CODE is at). ie. My web app is located at: [URL] my code is: String page = [URL]

String response = GetResponse(page); //basically the above code goes to the website [URL] and parses the HTML within it and brings it back and populates the variable string "response". But, sometimes the [URL] throws me a curve ball and redirects me to: [URL] I want to be able to use a try/catch to be able to "catch" the error of a different page: ie validateUser.aspx. So, I need to do to this: try

{
String page = [URL];
String response = GetResponse(page);
}
catch
{
//code to check the behind URL to see if [URL] is the URL OR IF [URL] is the current URL
}

understand I know how to find the URL of the current page the web app is on. I need to find the current page that threw the exception during the execution of the code behind.

Can Disable Theme For WebService

Nov 9, 2010

I have a default page theme set in the <pages /> element of the root web.config, which, in addition to the rest of the website, is being applied to WebService .ASMX pages. I would like to prevent ASP.NET from applying the themes to .ASMX pages. you can edit 'DefaultWsdlHelpGenerator.aspx' in the .NET framework's root CONFIG folder (C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkVERSIONCONFIGDefaultWsdlHelpGenerator.aspx) and specify <%@ Page Theme="" %>, but this only works if you are able to access that file on the server.

I have tried adding a <location /> element to the web.config which points at a specific .ASMX file, but that seems to be ignored as the .ASMX page is still being themed.

Is there any way to prevent ASP.NET from applying application themes to .ASMX files which works without modifying the system-level 'DefaultWsdlHelpGenerator.aspx' (mentioned above)?

Edit

I am able to work around this by allowing my base page type to define the applied theme, but even despite my workaround, I am wondering if there is a 'correct' way to override this rather ridiculous behavior in ASP.NET.

Visual Studio :: Errors In Root Machine.config And Web.config After 2010 Installation

Jan 19, 2011

I just installed VS2010 and opened the root machine.config and web.config files for review and I found some errors. In machine.config, the following line has errors in both entries for <Microsoft.VisualStudio.Diagnostics.ServiceModelSink.Behavior>. When I hover the cursor over them I get a tooltip text which displays: "The element 'endpointBehaviors' has invalid child element 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Diagnostics.ServiceModelSink.Behavior'. List of possible elements expected: '...(list of options here)...'. The same problem happens for the second appereance in tag <serviceBehaviors>.

[Code]....

In web.config, there is a tag called <protocols> that has an error with a tooltip text that says "The element 'system.web' has invalid child element 'protocols'. List of possible elements expected: '...(list of options here)...'.

How To Create A Common Web.config File And A Bunch Of Specific Web.config Files

Feb 16, 2011

Currently, I work on an ASP.NET project which is hosted under version control and is used on several developer machines, tester machine and production environment.

In three cases, configuration (Web.config) may be different. For example, developer and tester environments use testing SQL Server, whereas in production environment, another SQL Server is accessed, so the connection string is different in those cases.

We want to keep three versions of Web.config in subversion. But modifying each of three files every time we need to add, remove or change a common setting is annoying: it would be nice to have a common, master Web.config, which will be inherited by each of the three Web.config files.

How to set up an ASP.NET project which will use a master configuration file and different slave configuration files on different machines, thus sharing the same project/source code/configuration files in subversion?

How To Determine Which Parent Config File Is Locking A Web.config Setting

Mar 15, 2011

When I open my ASP.NET site in IIS and try to open the .NET Trust Levels, I get an error message:

.NET Trust Levels There was an error while performing this operation.

Details:
Filename: ?C:inetpubwwwrootmyappweb.config
Line number: 445

Error: This configuration section cannot be used at this path. This happens when the section is locked at a parent level. Locking is either by default (overrideModeDefault="Deny"),or set explicitly by a location tag with overrideMode="Deny" or the legacy allowOverride="false".

I've checked a few places, but I haven't found anything that seems like it would be locking that setting. Is there a systematic way of determining where that setting is locked?

I'm using IIS 7.5 and .NET 3.5 sp1.

Unable To Read Config Settings From External Config Files

Sep 1, 2010

We are experiencing some strange behaviour on one of our ASP.NET web servers (Windows 2003 64-bit). After some activity, two third-party controls are unable to run correctly. One is log4net (it does not write error messages out) and the other is a menu control (it displays eval message instead of picking up its license). The one common thread is that both controls pick up their config from external config files (linked to from web.config).

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this or experienced this in any way. Is it related to file/folder rights? The server has been running fine for a while and just started exhibiting this behaviour. Perhaps it occurs around the time the worker processes are recycled.
