View 2 RepliesIn my asp.net application I user Microsoft Membership to manage site access security and find the time saved into LastLoginDate is ahead of local time (Eastern Time Zone) 3 hours. What is wrong with it and how to ajust it to local time by application system only such as changing some properties od application?
View 2 RepliesAs the server of my website is located in a different timezone, is there a easy way to override the server local time by a setting in either web.config or global.asa?I could of course just use .AddHours() in all my .now() statements, but as this problem occured recently when I moved the site and that the .Now() syntax is used a number of times in the application I was looking for a another solution than changing my code everywhere I've used this syntax.

How do I get the smtp server address for the local machine? I want to my email address on a windows form and have the user send me an email and I need to be able to get their smtp server address programatically to do this. I tried this:
System.Net.Mail.
SmtpClient smtpc =
new
SmtpClient("127.0.0.1");
smtpc.Send(email);
It caused an exception.
We have a site that upon every page load, it tries to contact a sql server on the local machine. It does not contact localhost, but the actual IP of the local machine. It fails, then contacts the correct DB server for membership information. In dev, apparently the server was contacting the local sqlexpress server, then contacting the correct DB as well. Only when we stopped the localmachine dev SQLExpress could we recreate the issue. We had removed entries in machine.config, and web.config to .sqlexpress, but the problem still persists.
View 1 RepliesClicking the save button on my webform that's on our dev server:
http://DevServer/Page.aspx
Posts back to the same page on my local machine:
http://LocalMachine/Page.aspx
How does the DevServer even know my computer exists? I haven't hardcoded any URLS in my code.
Well I am having a problem when I have put my .NET 2.0 web site on IIS 6. I have used UrlMapping to redirect some old urls. It is working fine when I am using it on the VS local server port but when I deploy it to IIS 6, its giving a 404 Page not found error.
I've found that in a few forums they are talking about using Wildcard Mapping, but none of them provide me with a good explanation of how to achieve this. Added to this, what are the security risks of doing such a modification on IIS Level (if there are any?)
i want to find the timestamo of the local PC.
i m printing in my label below
lblrtntimestamp.Text = dt.ToString("yyyy/MM/dd HH:mm:ss.fff");
but insteed of the "yyyy/MM/dd HH:mm:ss.fff" i wnat to display time format as per the local PC's timestamp.
Lets suppose my application is deployed on a server located in USA. Now if any client visits my website from anywhere and from any device e.g Mobile , iPad , Surface or Laptop. Now if i want to save his local time then what should i use ?
DateTime.Now;
or
TimeZone curTimeZone = TimeZone.CurrentTimeZone;
var yourTime = TimeZoneInfo.ConvertTime(DateTime.Now, TimeZoneInfo.Local, TimeZoneInfo.FindSystemTimeZoneById(curTimeZone.StandardName));
tell me the difference between both commands.
i am developing a travel application. for that I need to calculate the future local datetime of a location using Datetime (a future date),longitude and latitude. (for Eg: i want to calculate the local datetime of a location on August-10- 2010 11.23 AM . Due to the day light saving time the datetime offset may change so i need to convert the august-10- 2010 11.23 AM to local time of the location) I have the inputs longitude, latitude and Date time. i can calculate the current local date using Longitude and latitude but cannot calculate accurately for *future date because of the day light saving time off set* . off set may varies on future dates. i am using asp.net and c# .
View 3 Replieswhen generating local resources by using ( "Tools"->"Generate Local Resource" ) i noticed that some controls disappear in run time.
is good to take advantage of Visual Studio to automatically generate it? or is better to create resource files and add meta:resourcekey="..." to my page manually??
I want to store DateTimes in my Database in Universal Time. A user can select his/her TimeZone (Retrieved from TimeZoneInfo.GetSystemTimeZones)I created a usercontrol, where a (local) datetime can be entered. This LocalDateTime is converted to Universal Time, which is stored in the database:
[Code]....
So far so good. Next step was that I would validate the LocalDateTime. A (Local) DataTime can be Invalid, when the time moves ahead from Standard Time To Daylight Saving Time, preventing it to be converted to Universal Time. This can be done like this:
[Code]....
So the next question is:
How can I calculate the Local Time which is ambiguous, with the correct sDaylightSavingTime Property ?
How to insert data from local SQL server to remote SQL server (without using linked server) like below?
insert * into [remote server].[northwind].orders
from [local server].[northwind].orders
I need to capture the amount of time that ASP.net takes to execute each page request in my application, but I need to exclude any network latency. I am currently capturing render times by using the StopWatch class and starting the stopwatch during the OnInit method of the page lifecycle and stopping it after the Unload method completes. It seems that the Unload method includes the time it takes send the request to the client, thus including any internet/network latency. What is the last possible point I could stop the stopwatch in the Page Life Cycle that would not include the time it takes to send the request to the client. Would it be directly before the Unload event?
Related question: Does ASP.net finish building the response before it starts sending to the client? Or does it start sending asynchronously, while the response is being formed?
I am using ASP.Net 2.0 with IIS 5 currently.
I have this code in a class that all of my pages inherit from:
readonly Stopwatch _serverExecutionTime = new Stopwatch();
protected override void OnInit(EventArgs e)
{
_serverExecutionTime.Start();
base.OnInit(e);
}
protected override void OnUnload(EventArgs e)
{
_serverExecutionTime.Stop();
base.OnUnload(e);
}
UPDATE
I tried capturing the execution time at the end of the OnRender method, at the start of the OnUnload method and at the end of the OnUnload method. In all three cases the difference in times was at most 1 millisecond. Even when testing this from a client in Europe to a server in the USA, the times were identical.
I have a webform that has a master page. In the web form I have a dropDownList it has PostBack=True, cause every time I changed the option I concat paratemer (item choosen) at hyperlink's navigate url property, for example I have 2 items:
id text
1 Option1
2 Option2
If the users select Option1 then concat at the url "?option=1" The problem is, that when I choose one option and then click at hyperlink everything goes right, but at the second time I choose an option the browser try to download de page itself aspx. update: even if I click at other hyperlink or link button after choose an option and click the hyperlink, the same thing happens (the browser ask me for download the page aspx)
I have no idea how to avoid this behavior at browser and it happens just at server with the IIS not while I'm testing at VS2008, update: ah I almost forget, if I click "cancel" at the prompt of firefox, then everything goes right again, until the next time I choose other option and click at the hyperlink, then everything goes wrong again...
Update (Code):
[Code]....
And here is the ASPX page
[Code]....
I'm wanting to insert some javascript in the body of a page using ClientScript.Register..() when a user returns to it (either by back button or on link click). When I use the back button the inline server script is never hit in debug. Any way to get the server to evaluate the code every single time the user is directed to that page.
View 1 RepliesI just installed SQL Server 2008 Management studio Express on my Vista machine.i tried connecting to local machine using :
.sqlexpress, (local)sqlexpress, or .SQLExpress, MyPCNAMESQLExpress
nothing is working, getting this error:

I need to insert a record in table which is in remote server....I am using two connection strings for local and remote....both the servers are in same workgroup only...so am able to connect the both.The problem is am filling data of local table in on dataset1 and remote server table data in another dataset dataset2..Now whil inserting a record local an error occured like "This row already belongs to another table" after googlingI found like this like "Dataset.importrow()" instead of "dataset.add()" method...then there is no errors but the inserted record is not inserting in remote server database...

Here is a bunch of code from a certain site;

the ShowTime function returns server time or client's time.However, I know that javascript executes in the client side.
I am unable to connect to my local instance of SQL Server 2008 Express using SQL Server Management Studio.I believe the problem is related to a change I made to the connection protocols. Before the error occurred, I had Shared Memory enabled and Named Pipes and TCP/IP disabled. I then enabled both Named Pipes and TCP/IP, and this is when I started experiencing the problem.
I have now set Named Pipes and TCP/IP back to disabled. When I try to connect to the server with SSMS (with either my SQL server sysadmin login or with windows authentication), I get the following error message:
"A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 233)"
My first question here is: why is it returning a Named Pipes error? Why isn't it using Shared Memory? It seems like it is not listening on Shared Memory for some reason?When I set Named Pipes to enabled and try to connect, I get the same error message.My windows account is does not have administrator priviliges on my computer.
