Visual Studio 2010 - Convert An Existing Website To HTML 5?
Mar 10, 2011I have a website which created first by Visual Studio 2005, then I convert in to Visual Studio 2008 and currently using Visual Studio 2008. After Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1, HTML 5 and CSS 3 seem to be available. I want to convert my website to a VS 2010 website which uses HTML5.
How can this be done?
Is it possible to convert it to an ASP.NET Web Application while I'm porting it from VS2008 to Visual Studio 2010 ?
I know how to convert a website to web application in Visual Studio 2008 but I haven't used Visual Studio 2010 and have no idea about the differences.

Jul 28, 2010I just recently upgrade my asp.net web project from visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.

Visual Studio :: Can't Open A SourceSafe 6 Database With Visual Studio 2005?
May 25, 2010I know both these software are old and that I can update to newer version. But I need to do it with those software in particular.I have Visual Studio 2005 and Visual SourceSafe 6 installed on my computer. When I try to open Visual SourceSafe 6 database using Visual SourceSafe 6 directly, I have no problem at all.Then I try to open a project solution I took from SourceSafe using Visual Studio 2005. Right away I receive this messageThe solution appears to be under source control, but its binding information cannot be found. It is possible that the MSSCCPRJ.SCC file or another item that holds the source control settings for the solution, has been deleted. Because it is not possible to recover this missing information automatically, the projects whose bindings are missing will be treated as not under source control.
Then an invite to chose a SourceSafe Database open. I click on BROWSE. First thing I noticed : The SourceSafe available databases list is empty (while I remind, it's not in SourceSafe 6. I can see there the COMMON database and the VSS database which is located on a different server on our network. Before that, I went in TOOLS->OPTIONS->SOURCE CONTROL, and make sure Visual Source Safe was selected as the Plug-in to use for a Source Control).So I click again on Browse, and locate my srcsafe.ini file. Everything is OK. It evens confirm me that my database path is
\dev2k3programmationVSS and that my database name is indeed VSS. So it found it. I then click on OK.
But when I do, the Database is not added to my available list, at all. The result, I can never select a source control, ever, which end in me not being able to work connected to the main source control of our network. Everything is working fine on every other computer in our company. Only this one have problem.Did I give enough description to my problem? I really need help on this one, because working disconnected from Source Safe can give a lot of pain to our team. Can anyone give me an hand? If you need any more info, just ask.

Oct 2, 2010I've got an interesting one here - I honestly don't think I've had this issue before. My folder system looks something like this (as noobish as it may be):
-Root ../Pages ../Pages/Admin ../Pages/OtherFolder ../Pages/AnotherFolder etc.
Now - I've got a Masterpage file in the Pages folder which is the general look of the entire site. Then, in each Pages Folder there's going to be another Masterpage inheriting the Page Folder Masterpage File.This seemed like a very simple and standard approach. But I'm having an issue. When editing the application in VWD2008E - I can see the Page Masterpage file just fine in Design View. But when trying to look at the the Masterpage Files, say the Admin Folder or the OtherFolder, in Design View - nothing shows except the Page Masterpage. It's really frustrating. Oddly, when running the application, no errors pop up and the sub-folder masterpages/pages show up just fine. They simply won't display in the editor.
VS 2005 Make A Smart Code Where The Next User Controls Loads Instead Of The HTML?
Mar 16, 2010I have an application where I make advanced engineering/science calculations.
The application consists of 25 equal calculation "lines" which I have made as user controls:

However the performance is quite bad because each line load from a database. Each line becomes visible when the last line has been clicked so I only need in fact 2 lines to be loaded at the beginning.
Can I make a smart code where the next user controls loads instead of the HTML that I have made, where all 25 lines appears and loads but are not visible until the line before has been used?

Jan 25, 2011Using Visual Web Developer 10, I've been re-designing my site. When I attempt to size a table cell down, it smashes all my text in the shrinking cell long before any sides are near the edges. Also, it refuses to size down further, it simply stops. Then, if I take the css formatting out of the smashed text, it fixes it, but increases the size of the table cell! lol.
What good alternative products are there to make my asp.net site or to stop this irritating problem.
