we can do in-place edit of gridivew in asp.net with partial postback using update panel. but i want to know is it possible to do the same thing with jquery. if yes then please help with idea and small code.

I am using multiple user control in my web page. Each of these usercontrol has $(document).ready() method. Because i am using an update panel, i am binding all the events again in end_request event. But I dont want to do that in all my usercontrols. Is is possible to do this at a common place(only once)?

how to place a row in the edit mode in gridview on button click. have tried the :
GridView1.EditIndex = 0;
has the issue that the button has to be clicked twice to the row to become editable.
then in this way the old update and cancel will not appear.
I am interested in ADO.NET method.

I have three parameters to search and the record is being populated on the gridview.
Paremeters are dropdown lists:
lstDepartment, lstSection, lstLocation
I used AutoPostBack to true for above dropdowns but the problem I am facing is when I select value in lstDepartment to show values in lstSection then gridview data refreshes and after that when I select lstSection to show values in lstLocation then again gridview refreshes.
What I want to do is to when I'll select dropdown one by one then gridivew display data when a Search button pressed.
I don't want to refresh gridview everytime on the basis of dropdown selection.

I can't use Ajax.BeginForm() since ajax doesn't allow upload (or does it?), so I have to use the regular Html.BeginForm() for my form to call my ActionResult. But I need to do some validation on the server and displays the response within that form, or displays a message if the form successfully posted. How do I displays the message in that jQuery UI modal dialog?
View 1 RepliesI have a gridview that I can't for the life of me get the datepicker calender to pop up for. I've been using the datepicker for months very successfully for a variety of textboxes on the page and inside of formviews but this is the first time I've tried using with gridview. I didn't expect any issues however can't seem to find anything to work. I have searched the forums for 2 days and attempted any suggestions found within the solutions to no avail. I've tried using the CSS to link the datepicker but everything stopped working when I changed the code and my page which uses a css style already got all distorted looking.Here is my gridview (only included a part b/c it is large and am only having problem with the datepicker for the date completed text box)

I have read a lot of post and seen some solutions to this; however, nothing seems to work for me. I have a gridview inside an update panel and when the user clicks on the edit link the row goes into edit mode. when the user clicks into the text box specified for the date nothing happens. here is what my JS looks like and the gridview row i am working with. i have tried the CSS selector and the ID selector with no luck......I also have a date picker working great on my page, but it is not inside a gridview or an update panel....
