I am trying to format money to be inserted to an sql statement. I currently have this
str = str + "'" + a.Trim + "', '" + b.Trim + "', '" + System.DateTime.Now + "', money, "
when i hard code money as 2.00, for example:
str = str + "'" + a.Trim + "', '" + b.Trim + "', '" + System.DateTime.Now + "', 2.00, "
it works fine, but when i am using a variable like dim money as double
money = dr("amount").ToString()
as with the 1st example i get the error message:
Input string was not in a correct format.

I'm suffering a well known problem with globalization, but, I tried to find the answer in the forum and got nothing. My computer has regionalization or globalization from Colombia, as i live there. I made my site and when I published I started to get errors on dates. This errors happen because in Spanish the date format is 'dd/MM/yyyy' being dd:day, MM:month and yyyy:year. In English the date format is 'MM/dd/yyyy'.There is any form or way to correct this in the entire site?? Maybe something in the web.config file?
View 2 RepliesWe are developing an application in asp.net 2.0 where we have a functionality to export data to Excel file. We used Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel to export data to Excel. Everything is working fine. But, we are facing a problem in formating numbers which need to be shown in German format(example: 345.789,78). For this, we added German culture info("de-DE")in code as well as web.config file. But, still it showing in US format( only. find below the code to add and format the data in excel cells.
oWorkSheet.Cells[ExrowIndex + 1, ColumnIndex] =Convert.ToDouble(ContractAmount)
oWorkSheet.get_Range(oWorkSheet.Cells[ExrowIndex + 1, ColumnIndex], oWorkSheet.Cells[ExrowIndex + 1, ColumnIndex]).NumberFormatLocal =

I am having the language as English(unite states), on changing the language to English(United Kingdom) the date format is changed to dd/MM/yyyy.
but on using the date class in the asp.net application, this fetches the date format as the mm/dd/yyyy, which is the system date format.
but the logged in user date format is dd/mm/yyyy
so how to get the date format of the logged in user in asp.net applications.

I have a table in my SQL Server db with fields of money datatype. It seems as though SQL Server likes to have 4 decimal places for the money datatype, but is there any way in the settings of this table or that money field to change this to 2? I know how to programmitically trim the last two zeros, if I can manually set something so I don't have to do this every time I retrieve the money datatypes from the database table.

I'm starting to learn ASP.NET and going through the tutorial videos on www.asp.net. I understand the basic concept of web application frame works like ASP/PHP/ASP.NET. HTML/XHTML is created with special tags that the server knows to read and replace with content. I did a little bit with ASP during a summer internship back in the 90's.
Yet with the few examples of ASP.NET I've seen so far it seems ASP.NET has two types of server interpreted tags.
Most of the time I see <asp:XXXX > tags such as
<asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="HeadContent" runat="server">
</asp:ContentPlaceHolder>
but I also see regular ASP tags like
<%@ Master Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Site.master.cs" Inherits="TailspinSpyWorks.SiteMaster" %>
What is the difference between these two tag formats? Both are interpreted by the server correct? Why would I use one over the other?
I am using this reference to make some application .. In this article we can only save with varchar data types
So how to use some other data types like datetime, money, int..or how to use parameters to convert data.
