View 9 RepliesI want to build multi-language website in asp.net 2008 and asp.net 2010. So, which process is better for building application? Using either Local and Global Resource or New Folder to make separate according to language?
Application performance should be good and also easy manageable.
how to use multilingual application using UNICODE in c#.
View 3 RepliesI have downloaded and reviewed this tutorial [URL] several times. It seems simple enough however the app_GlobalResource file is not working... so here it is.
I downloaded the sample project c# version, the website run nicely except for the global part. When I change the language in IE8 it doesn't change on the page. What is missing, is there something in IE 8 that needs to be turned on or off? I have Win7x64, VS08, IIS running asp 2.0 and IE8.
When I am inside VS08 and use the expressions property the app_GlobalResource link is there (the default) but doesn't switch between the languages.
I'm creating a multi-language website, in starting i will use three languages English, Hindi & French.
well i want to know that, do i use "Globalization" or i create a MasterPage & share it in all three language page...???
becuz im using CSS, and English words & other language words length is very differnt....... im thinking, by use Globalization, it will not effect on the Webpage layout....
so what will i use Globalization or Masterpage share pages in three languages?

View 6 RepliesOur current application is working fine but when you try to misbehave like we found out that When login with same user in multiple tab with different organization(there is a organization dropdown in the master page which sets the cookie whenever it is changed.) in tab one it is org 1 and tab 2 it is org2 , cookie has the later org 2 in it but when we go back in tab1(which had org1) and save the record org 2 will be saved with the record So can some one share some sort of a checklist with us which address these types of problem.
View 3 RepliesI am developing a multi language website. language change is working very well on master page. from master page I am storing session to use in contant pages.
when I am trying to change text (<p>.....<P>) in content page, thats not working.
protected void Page_PreRender()
which is better approach from performance point of view, is it better to use one web-service method to load data by passing Database Table name and keys or is it better to use separate method for each database table! knowing that i'm using .net asmx through ajax requests.it's obvious that one method is better from OO perspective since it have one function type 'data loading' but what about performance? does IIS affected by that or not? also is it better to make multi web-services 'asmx files' or just one!
View 3 RepliesI would like to develope multilanguage website (English,Deutch) using ASP.Net MVC. Using MVC the URL should have the format (Controller / Action / Identifier) .Now How could I include Language part in URL. Suppose I want addresses like (/EN/Pages/View/xxx).
View 5 RepliesI've been given a big chunk of code which eventually calls upon the SetDocsMetaInfo method from Frontpage Server Extension RPC. This is easy enough for most document uploading and property updating, except when dealing with multichoice fields. I've been scouring through MSDN and I can't find anything on how to fill in multiple values for such a field.
The general syntax for properties is something like this: [SR|default], with the type (string in this case) followed by a pipe and then the value to be written. Does anyone know the syntax for multichoice fields?
how can i use multi javascript files with RegisterClientScriptInclude method in custom server controls. when i call two or more RegisterClientScriptInclude method, this method registers only one of the javascript files.

We have a simple ASP.NET app that uses the ASP.NET SqlMembershipProvider and all is great.
We want to create a second app on the same server, also use the SqlMembershipProvider, but a different "applicationName" so that the user accounts between the two apps are kept separate.
It looks like this would be possible by making the two different app domains (ie they each have their own web.config), but I'm hoping to just put them in different directories so I don't have 3 web.configs (one for each app, and the main one) that all have to be kept synchronized. So what I'm after is:
/web.config
/APP1 (uses membership provider in /web.config, with userlist A)
/APP2 (uses membership provider in /web.config, with userlist B)
It looks simple to define multiple membership providers that use a different 'applicationName' value.
But how do you tell the system.web.authentication node which membership provider to use?
how can i convert string written in eng to hindi. For label i know, is there any why to convert string.
View 4 RepliesI found the solution. Just override InitializeCulture().
View 1 RepliesI'm developing a internal web app for a foreign friend.
Since many of the users don't speak english very well, I wanted to add local translation to the web.
It's been a while since I've used .net, and perhaps I'm getting a little bit rusty, but my Localized resources are not working for some reason.
I have a Default.aspx.resx in my App_GlobalResources folder and inside it a small resx file. It simply has one test string: "Button" with the value of "Botón", nothing complex there.
Then I have the test controls: <asp:Localize runat="server" ID="test" Text="Button" meta:resourcekey="Button" /> and <asp:Label ID="header1" runat="server" Text="Button" meta:resourcekey="Button" />
But this isn't updated. Things that I've tried:
1. Put UICulture in the Page Tag
2. Renamed the resource file to Default.aspx.es.resx
3. Put my browser in 'es-ES' locale
4. Tried to load the resources explicitly inside <%%>
I have mulitlanguage platform in place - need to have the HEADER LOGO.PNG on my site to change with my language-button function.My startingpoint is this from my Masterpage :
<div ="top">
<a href="default.aspx"> <br />
<img alt="Logo" src="Images/Logo_white.png" width="780" height="148" border="none" class="logo" /></a>

I am creating an Asp.net web site which will support dynamic data. When I am creating a dynamic web site from Scratch (from template in VS) all is working fine. But when I am trying to add dynamic entity (.edmx) file and running the application I am getting following error
"The method 'Skip' is only supported for sorted input in LINQ to Entities. The method 'OrderBy' must be called before the method 'Skip'. "
I am trying to localize my wesbite from English to Spanish. The website is built in Spanish. I have done such work perfectly in a html website but i do not have experience with .net localization. I know only Resource files are need to be translated.
View 7 RepliesI have an ObjectDataSource that I want to perform updates using a business entity i.e. Type="Object"). Since the values for the entity are within a user control, I have stored a reference to the control in Session and in the updating event, set the new instance to the value of the entity from the user contol property (which also pulls values from the form viaother properties of the control):
Protected Sub MasterDataSource_Updating(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.ObjectDataSourceMethodEventArgs) Handles MasterDataSource.Updating
Dim entity As New Login()
Dim accountControl As AccountInfo = TryCast(Session("AccountCtrl"), AccountInfo)
entity = accountControl.Entity
e.InputParameters.Add("entity", entity)
End Sub
And here's the markup for the datasource:
<asp:ObjectDataSource ID="MasterDataSource" runat="server" EnableCaching="true" CacheDuration="10"
SelectMethod="SelectAll" UpdateMethod="Update" TypeName="Data.DAL.LoginDAL">
</asp:ObjectDataSource>
My question is, how can I get the update method to pass this entity to the update method in my BLL class? It seems the Update method requires an ID or reference to the original object to use in determining whether any changes have taken place, but I don't really want to do this. In other words, I just want to use the Update event on my ObjectDataSource to pass my entity to the method ("Update") I set as a property and then let this business method handle the update of the data. Shown below, is the BLL update method I want to call:
Public Overloads Function Update(ByVal entity As Login)
If entity Is Nothing Then
Throw New ArgumentNullException("entity")
End If
MyBase.Update("UpdateLogin", entity.Username, entity.Password, entity.FirstName, entity.LastName, entity.Role, entity.Region, _
entity.Email, entity.Title, entity.TierID, entity.Street, entity.City, entity.State, entity.Zip, entity.Mobile, entity.Phone, entity.Fax)
End Function
When I try to call this as it stands now, I get an error: ObjectDataSource 'MasterDataSource' could not find a non-generic method 'Update' that has parameters: ID, entity. Previously, I'd set up a long list of parameters of basic data types (string, int, boolean), but this is rather cumbersome and I was hoping to use an entity for this (FYI, I also got the same type of error when I tried this approach, but with the ID as the
last parameter in the list). Perhaps what I'm doing here is atypical to how the ODS is normally used?? Has anyone done something like this successfully?
I have an application that has JS calling ASMX files to do asyncronous requests, using ASP.NET AJAX.
The problem is that I use always the same "onError" function, and now I don't know how to identify the method that rised the error, and it is giving me a lot of problems to debug errors. The parameter "data" of the onError method does not give enough information, for
example:
en System.ComponentModel.BaseNumberConverter.ConvertFrom(ITypeDescriptorContext context, CultureInfo culture, Object value)
en System.Web.Script.Serialization.ObjectConverter.ConvertObjectToTypeInternal(Object o, Type type, JavaScriptSerializer serializer, Boolean throwOnError, Object& convertedObject)
en System.Web.Script.Serialization.ObjectConverter.ConvertObjectToTypeMain(Object o, Type type, JavaScriptSerializer serializer, Boolean throwOnError, Object& convertedObject)
en System.Web.Script.Serialization.ObjectConverter.ConvertObjectToType(Object o, Type type, JavaScriptSerializer serializer)
en System.Web.Script.Services.WebServiceMethodData.StrongTypeParameters(IDictionary`2 rawParams)
en System.Web.Script.Services.WebServiceMethodData.CallMethodFromRawParams(Object target, IDictionary`2 parameters)
en System.Web.Script.Services.RestHandler.InvokeMethod(HttpContext context, WebServiceMethodData methodData, IDictionary`2 rawParams)
en System.Web.Script.Services.RestHandler.ExecuteWebServiceCall(HttpContext context, WebServiceMethodData methodData)
Is there any way to know the webmethod that raised the error?
I don't know what I'm making wrong.I have a submit button, and on click it should execute the funktion in the code behind, but I get the error that the funktion is undefined.this is my code in the .aspx webform:
