Localizing Dates And Times Automatically In Silverlight?
Oct 18, 2010
This is more of a question about best pattern and practice than asking about any one particular method. We have app that is heavily reliant on dates and times and is hosted in the US. Sometimes it needs to perform actions based on those values, like emailing out reminders and expiring "single-use" session tokens. However there are clients around the globe that need to access this app and have the dates and times display relative to their local time.Clearly the solution should be to store the dates on the server side in a single time zone (UTC?) and then convert them back and forth from the local time settings of the user.We are using silverlight 4 on the client and the ria services 1.0 stack over linq2sql on the server side. I am hoping someone knows if there is a way to automate this localization of date and time as much as possible and if so, what is the pattern to use for this. Ideally we don't want to have to do a DateTime.ToLocalTime() every time we need to use a date. This has to be a common situation. Is there a way to automatically shift dates and times into the client's local time zone on SL4?
I am creating an excel spreadsheet server side and downloading to the client via a Silverlight front-end. It is started by the user clicking a button and being presented with a SaveFileDialog. Once the user enters a file name then silverlight starts an asynchronous call to a web service and when finished returns a byte array which is written to wherever the user requested to save it. This all works fine. How do I then automatically open this file on the client's PC?
im exporting data in excelfrom ssrs report. While exporting report to excel its took sometimes 10-15 mins and some times its automatically close the IE.Im using ssrs 2005.I have noted that there are total 37000 rows in excel. Is this creating a problem for extracting report or something else.My server have the configuration like :-
Microsoft Window server 2003 R2 Service pack 2 Intel(R) Xeon(TM) CPU 3.00 GHZ[code]....
Also note that this server is also we used for the SAP enduser. We have approx 20 SAP enduser.
The Silverlight app has a link to a different group of reports. This *was* working fine but no more. In the following code you can see the 'Reports' part that it calls another page [URL] namely right here: WHat is happening is when the reports page is called, it goes into 'Session timeout ' right away.
I'm having trouble with the implicit type validation for model properties. The validation/error messages (for numeric fields explicitly) are printed in English (I want them to be printed in Swedish). Does anyone know how to override those messages? Or can I turn of implicit type validation? The error message I'd like to translate/localize is "The field {0} must be a number."
I need some pointers to start on this.We are building a time off application where three instances of a calendar control will be displayed ( prev - current and next month) now users can click on various dates accross all three instances and then a count of number of days should be diaplyed in the parent textbox.
To begin with this, i started with adding the dates clicked by the user in Calendar2_SelectionChanged method into a list<> so that i can get the all dates user clicked and then add it to calander's selected dates collection. But this throws an e" object reference not set" error.
Is there anyother way to get all the dates that user click onthe calendar( note the dates doesn't get highlighed so seleteddates doesnt work)does anyone has a good example for this.
i want to use a ajax calender extender in which when user clixcks on button caleder show only dates of current month not previous dates.i dont want to disable dates. i should not apper on current month calender. means it should start from 1 and end to 30 or 31
once a user select an item from dropdownlist > Dates from DB are shown on calendar in pink color.
The problem now is when i want to select new dates the selected dates(in pink) become deselected .. I want them to stay selected so i can know which dates are already used .
Say If got these dates in a TextBox 2010/06/19,2010/06/20,2010/06/21,2010/06/22,2010/06/23, i want automicly my Start label to pickpup the lowest date and Label End to pickup the highest Date Start: [2010/06/19] End: [2010/06/23] between brackets is my label
i have to date say in MM/DD/YYYY format "1/1/2010" and 1/30/2010". now i want to find dates which comes on monday. so out out will be 01/04/2010, 1/11/2010, 01/18/2010, 01/25/2010
I am generating multi-series graphs with the date along the X-Axis. The problem is that not all of the series in the graph have the same dates in the date range. Meaning that if I choose 1 Feb through 30 Apr that one series may have data that starts at 1 Feb but only goes through the end of March but another series may have data for the entire date range. This skews the charts I need to create. Go, given the date range taken at the begining of the query I'd like to generate a list of dates and populate the data to be graphed, padding those series with 0's for those dates that have no data.
How to display dynamic header for datalist control(Dates are dynamic). Also i want header in each row.I want something like this.Words in bold are headers.Header also in each
row.8/1/2010,8/8/2010,8/15/2010,8/22/2010 are dynamic dates whic change every month based on user selecting date from datecontrol.
I am saving to dates (fromdate) and (todate) into DB .. And then I want to view all the days (from to) and the dates in between , highlited in a calendar control ,, how can i do that ? I know how to highlight dates saved into calendar but how can i do the same to the dates inbetween ?
In my web application I have a multiview that includes a few datagrids in which the user needs to enter some data. It takes approximately 20 minutes to complete the process, including user registration.
In order to prevent the system to time out before the user ends the process, I added the following to my web.config file: <sessionState mode="InProc" cookieless="false" timeout="120"/> , which according to what I have read, gives 120 minutes before the system times out. However, I get a timeout flag after a few minutes instead of after 120 minute, and all the information the user enters is erased.
I'm trying to track down an issue on an ASP.NET v3.5 application where the HttpSession times out before its (default) 20 minutes. We're seeing behaviour where the session is lost only a few minutes into a session, at random and with no discernible cause such as unhandled exceptions. As far as I can tell, the ASP.NET worker process is not dying, otherwise that would have explained the dropped session.
What approach should I use to monitor when the session is dropped? Is there some event I can listen to, or some other hook in the System.Web namespace? Also, can someone confirm that the countdown to expiration is reset by web activity? That is, the session's lifetime gets reset to the (default) 20 minutes each time the web client makes an HTTP GET or POST?
I have a program which listerns to a specific directory and do some stuff once file is created on that directory. The thing is this works perfectly fine when I run it manually for testing. Meaning that when I copy and paste files in to that directory it work just fine.
Then I test it against our business system and had this problem. When our business system generates a file in that directory event fires 2-3 times and this leads to lof of problems.
One of the test case requirement is to run the same query ie URL for N number of times. Consider a google search that will have a text box and a Search button. I want to search a string such as "Test API" for N number of times. I can't do this test manually because i have to refresh the browser or hitting the button for so many number of times. I know, we will be getting the same results but that will change the page ranking. Is there any script available to automate this test case in C# or any language?
I have a simple asp.net web forms page that does an insert to my sql server db. My server was running slow at the time and I pressed Insert button several times because I didn't think it took but it did all 3 times. So I have duplicates from that one interaction. How would I prevent this?
I have a question that I can't quite find the answer to...
If you have an ASP.Net page that takes longer than the request time-out to render what happens to that process? Does the web service abort it?
Lets say I'm writing XML to the response stream in an ASP.Net page and it times-out calling my GenerateXML method. What happens to my method call? Does it complete but the web server reports the time out? or is it aborted?
I could probably write a test to see my own results but I figure there might be more to it.
