Configuration :: "Logon Failure: Bad Username Or Password" Linking To New Server?

Mar 15, 2011

We just replaced our network server. The new server uses CIFS (I am not a server person so I know very little about this). Accessing the virtual directory on the old server, I could access information using static links, asp and aspx.Trying to access information on the new virtual directory, none of my dynamic links work. I can create a static link to a specific file with no problem. My asp pages return "Path not found" and the aspx pages give me the "Logon Failure: Bad username or password.

Security :: System.IO.IOException Unknown User Name Or Bad Password?

Feb 15, 2011

I cannot for the life of me figure out why I cannot wrtite a file to a directory inside of the website. I have this working on a Windows 2003 Server using IIS6. I've ported this web app to a 64bit Windows 2008 server and I am unable to have my web app write a file to a directory. I have shared and given security access to everything under the sun on this server to that particular folder and still no luck. My dev workstation with Visual Studio 2010 has no probelm saving a file to that directory. So it has to be something with the web server account. I am using Windows Authentication. I have an account in our Active Directory that is being used.

Security :: Logon Failure Security Event 534 And Impersonation?

Oct 4, 2010

I have an app that uses impersonation to gain access to a database (on server separate from IIS). The app connects to the database using a trusted connection and seems to be working just fine. However, we get these logon failure events in the security event viewer:

[Code]....

It must have something to do with impersonation because the login failure is for the domain account which my app is impersonating under. But again, the app is working fine so I'm having a hard time figuring out how to stop these logon failures.

Active Directory/LDAP :: Old And New Password Valid At The Next Logon?

Mar 14, 2011

I have a domain controller on windows 2008 server R2, The users are able to modify their password through a web page. Once it's done, the users are still able tu use the old password as well as the new one at the next logon. The old password is still active only one time after the change, after that it's no more possible to use it...

I invoke the "ChangePassword" function.

Is it a parameter to configure on the server ? Is it cached somewhere on the computer of the users ?

Here is my code:

I want to get AD logon username(current win logon user).I used HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name and also tried User.Identity.NameI am accessing the site from client machine. I am not getting the client's logon user instead getting the server's logon user. But I want client's logon user only.I just want to get username. I dont need any login screens or bla blaWhen I run in my development system(XP), its working fine.
When I deploy to windows 2008 server, I am getting problem(Getting only the server's logon user instead of getting the client's logon user).So, problem in the server settings. So, any settings I need to set to get this worked?I enabled Windows Authentication for my site in IIS management window. Disabled Anonymous authentication.

Configuration :: Login Failed For User 'NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON'?

Aug 4, 2010

I'm developing an intranet site in asp.net 3.5 using linq to sql. When I run the site on my development system, it works great. I moved the site and SQL Server database to my CLient's Server for testing.

When I execute the following vb.net code

Dim linq1 = From PageGroup In dbs1.ZZ_PageGroups Where (PageGroup.PageName = pasPageName)

For Each PG In linq1

I get the above error message. I suspect the problem may be authenticating the user in SQL Server. When using Linq to SQL, how/where is the connection string set and how does it know the user?

Security :: Impersonation / Getting Error / Login Failed For User 'NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON

Aug 16, 2010

I'm running IIS 6.0 on a Windows 2003 server and running an ASP.NET 4 application which connects to an SQL Server 2005 database on another server. I have my Default.aspx page set to Windows authentication with anonymous access disabled.

When I load up the page it asks for a username and password (as expected), I enter my credentials and it comes up with the following error:Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.

If I add the following to my web.config file: <identity impersonate="true"/> then I get the following error:

Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYANONYMOUS LOGON'.

And if I add the <identity impersonate> tag set to true and with my username and password included it connects successfully.

I can't leave this in there as I want each user to connect as themselves, so why is the server not using the credentials that I enter when prompted to connect to the database ?

PRB .NET User Controls Is Considered Published By An Unknown Publisher?

Mar 30, 2010

PRB .NET User controls is considered published by an "Unknown Publisher" from my ASP.NET pages.We have a .NET User conrol, based off the UserControl class and coupled with the IObjectSafety interface that generates a "Unkown Publisher" warning message when our control is deployed from our ASP.NET applications. The warning pops up as a dialog from the browser, asking the user if they want to install our control, saying that it is from an "Unknown Publisher".1) Our <OBJECT> tag is scripted correctly in our page as such:

<object
id=objMyControl
classid="CLSID:########-####-####-####-########"
codebase="MyControl.dll#-1,-1,-1,-1"
style="visibility: hidden; width: 0; height: 0;"
></object>

2) We activated the "Make assembly COM-Visible" and "Register for COM Interop" from the Visual Studio C# project settings.

SQL Server 2008 User Instance Database Creation Failure Within A Project

Jan 24, 2010

I'm trying to create a database within the app_data folder of an asp.net mvc project using the IDE, but i am getting a "Required Components Missing" message indicating "Connections to SQL Server files (*.mdf) requireSQL Express 2005 ....."

I am using
- Windows 7 Enterprise
- VS2008 Team System SP1
- SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition SP1

I have altered the database connection to use the default instance by setting to blank using

Tools -> Options -> Database Tools -> Data Connection : SQL Server Instance Name

I also note from the SQL Server Books Online that the user instance feature will be removed in the future, but for now it suits my effort in developing an application where a number of people are working on the project.

Has anyone managed to create a database in the same manner?
