MVC :: Extending The RazorViewEngine For Custom ViewEngine?

Dec 9, 2010

I were following the tutorial at this page of how to build my own view engine: [URL] And in hope of just extending the existing RazorViewEngine I made some changes to the code in the tutorial...

[Code]....

The thing is that now when I run my site..I get the following error: CS0246: The type or namespace name 'WebMatrix' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) and I just cant find a way to solve this..I have added the references.

I'm trying to extend de GridView control with a Custom Server Control, I'm doing ok with extended properties but when I get to methods that need to re-apply or modifiy the DataSource I don't get any data in the grid, though the SQLDataSource actually retrieve data. Here is my MyGridView.applyFilter() method, which should filter the data but actually shows an empty GridView, but as I sayed, the DataSource has data. I try to find (FindControl) theSQLDataSource of the GridView (Me) and modifiy its paramters, thenDataBind Me to apply the changes...

Custom Server Controls :: Extending GridView To Enforce It To Have A Specific Control?

Feb 23, 2011

I'm trying to extend the GridView into a custom/user control "WorklistGridView". And I'm not quite sure how to do it... so here's what I need:Every row needs to have a control (either a boundfield or a templatefield with a label, etc.) that contains the StepID (which is a column returned in the data set).I want to be able to use the WorklistGridView as a base class and extend it to something like "XyzWorklistGridView", where that child class would have a few more controls in the row template.

Custom Server Controls :: Extending A Control And Losing Values On Postback?

Nov 24, 2010

I've created loads of user controls, but this is my first time dealing with extending a server control. The problem I'm getting is that the base control's data is not being persisted across postbacks in a Master/Content page.I'm actually trying to get this working using a Telerik control (for my sins), but the same issue happens with a standard Web TextBox control. Code:

[Code]....

Now, I've copied the way I handle the control state as I do it with user controls (ControlState), and it isn't working. Can someone point me in the right direction please? All the examples I find refer to creating user controls, not extending existing controls. Specifically why nothing is being persisted on post back.

Custom Server Controls :: Inheriting From / Extending System.Web.UI.WebControls.Calendar?

Dec 16, 2010

This is my first "request for help" post - I've spent the past few weeks helping others, so I'm hoping someone can shed some light here.I've dealt with server controls before, so it's not new to me, but it was some time ago and I'm a bit rusty. I have an inherited calendar control, that works fine:

[Code]....

I've overriden the Render method, hoping to be able to modify the HTML output of the control - I want to hide the back arrow if the Month & Year in MinDate is reached in the calendar, and the same goes for MaxDate and the forward arrow.On top of this, I want to be able to display icons in the day cells, under certain data-bound conditions. Once I've figured one out, I'm sure I'll be able to work the other one out.Are there any other methods, events or properties more suitable for this? Are there any other controls that do what I'm looking for that I've maybe overlooked?I'm using C#.Net 4.0 Webforms - it's a very small app, so I've not used MVC etc... just a few LINQ queries to the database.

The new area is working great, but for some reason, when i try to go into the area where the old app was, it looks for the views to be in the views folder in the root of the app, instead of in the views folder in the area.

MVC :: Razor Viewengine Breaks Actionfilter When Renderaction Is Used

Dec 17, 2010

I am using Actionfilter to globally filter our HTML comments from all action methods and in all controllers. It simply overrides OnActionExecuting and runs the response through a regex to filter the comments. I am also using RenderAction to render some more complicated widgets in my website. There is no caching in place, I just use Renderactionto keep my code as simple possible.

When calling RenderAction from within a Razor View, I get an error message telling me that "Filtering is not allowed". The problem does not occur when calling RenderAction from within an aspx View. It only occurs when calling RenderAction from within a Razor View. In case it matters: the view being rendered is implemented with ASPX. Is this a bug or a known limitation?

Make A Section Optional With The Mvc Razor ViewEngine?

Feb 4, 2011

I have a Page.cshtml similar to the following (that does not work):

@{
Layout = "../Shared/Layouts/_Layout.cshtml";
var mycollection = (ViewBag.TheCollection as IQueryable<MyCollectionType>);
}
<h2>@ViewBag.Title</h2>

content here

@if (mycollection != null && mycollection.Count() > 0)
{
@section ContentRight
{
<h2>
Stuff
</h2>
<ul class="stuff">
@foreach (MyCollectionType item in mycollection )
{
<li class="stuff-item">@item.Name</li>
}
</ul>
}
}

As I said, this does not work. I want to not define the section if there's nothing in the collection. Is there any way to have something like this work? If not, what are my other options? I'm very new to this Razor ViewEngine. Edit In my layout i have:

@if(IsSectionDefined("ContentRight"))
{
<div class="right">
RenderSection("ContentRight")
</div>
}

what i don't want is the div to output when the section is empty.

MVC ViewEngine ViewLocationCache.GetViewLocation Returns Null?

Jan 24, 2010

I am following Chris Pietschmann's solution for theming in ASP.NET MVC.

One thing I have noticed is that the view name is not being retrieved from the ViewLocationCache on subsequent requests. I am using ASP.NET MVC 2.0 RC

When the following code is executed:

this.ViewLocationCache.InsertViewLocation(controllerContext.HttpContext, cacheKey, virtualPath);

and I hover over this.ViewLocationCache it just returns {System.Web.Mvc.NullViewLocationCache} - suggesting nothing was added?

Using Or Extending ESAPI.NET V0.2?

Nov 30, 2010

I've been recently tasked with leading an effort to improve our input (and output) validation with OWASP recommendations and PCI compliance in mind. In the process, I'm trying to assess the value of the ESAPI.NET project which does not appear to have seen any activity since the spring of '09 and as it stands is incomplete.

Does anyone have experience using or extending ESAPI.NET v0.2? Is it a good starting place today for building out an infrastructure to address the targeted vulnerabilities?

FYI: I am looking at MS AntiXSS which, of course, only addresses a portion of ESAPI's scope. We already do a good job with SQL injection though there are improvements we need to make.

Extending RoleProvider GetRolesForUser ()

Jun 3, 2010

The GetRolesForUser() method in the RoleProvider takes the user login name and returns the list of roles for that user. But in my application this is not enough, I need a few more pieces of information to be able to get the user's roles. How can I get this extra information into the method? I have it in the Session, but I found out that Session is not available in the RoleProvider.

What I had in mind was putting this extra info in some class that extends MembershipUser, assuming I can get to it inside the RoleProvider. But I don't know how to create the CustomMembershipUser and make it part of the MembershipProvider. Is this even possible? The easy way out would be using cookies, but I'm trying to keep away from it.

C# - Extending The Base Class?

Mar 5, 2010

When you create a webpage in ASP.net, the codebase inherits System.Web.UI.Page

Now when I extend the page object to check for SessionExpired for example, I create a new class and inherit from system.web.ui.page, and overwrite some functions.

The problem then is that on each page, I have to replace system.web.ui.page with my custompage class.

Is there a way to extend a class by adding methods or modifying its methods directly (e.g. add the sessionExpired check to System.Web.UI.Page) ?

I'm using .NET 2.0

AJAX :: CollapsiblePanelExtender Extending?

Sep 30, 2010

I use two different collapsiblepanelExtenders with similar colapsedControlID which is not a matter here. ince both of them working but with some misbehaviour, for example if the first one is open and I click wherever on it , the second one extends. also by clicking on the second one it collapses.That means that some how an event triggers and makes them collapse or extend.I have a kind of editing panel inside each extandedPanel which are used to update something on the page. the problem is that by clicking on eachtextbox or fileupload, the second panel collapses again. before any other action. So that I can not enter the textboxes. I can do that if I use tab button on keyboard. but that sucks really.

[Code]....

it might be because the second extender is inside the collapsible panel itself. but why it doesn't stay in extended state?
