I have an MVC view that contains a number of partial views. These partial views are populated using partial requests so the controller for the view itself doesn't pass any data to them. Is it possible to reload the data in one of those partial views if an action was triggered in another? For example, one partial view has a jqGrid and I want to refresh the data in another partial view when a user selects a new row in this grid. Is there a code example for this scenario (in C#) that I can look at to see what am I doing wrong? I am using ajax calls to trigger a new request but non of the partial views are refreshed so I am not sure if the issue is with the routing, the controller,
View 1 RepliesI have one webform and two popups. I am opening 1st popup using window.open method from my webform and it is working fine. then i am opening 2nd popup as showmadaldialog from 1st popup.
my second dialog have one button and if i click the button my two popup's(one popup and one dialog) should be closed and my webform should be appear.
currently am able to close 2nd popup. but am unable to close 1st popup from second popup.

I am nto sure what am I doing wrong here. I have a controller called Main and I have a action method called Navigation Bar inside it. i created a partial view from NavigationBar action method and called that partial view from my master page. when i call this partial view from a regular aspx page. i can see the menu, but when I call the same partial view from my master page, I don't see anything. below is my code

The partial view control has just a label and textbox control. When I view the source html generated it correctly has a single form control around all the multiple labels and textboxes. My single submit button, inside the form though does not send any of the form data back to the controller though when using FormCollection.

When a user directly closes the browser, we should give him an alert message and stop him by directly closing the window based on some conditions. This we have handled through body onunload event. The problem is we are getting the alert message but after showing the alert message the window gets closed.
Is there any way to stop closing the window on click of browser close event?
And also when the page is refreshed, the last performed action is getting fired again.
I've a parent page with a long form. I am opening ajax modal popup extender on the click of a radio button.

I have a blog, where people can make comments. I've now decided to put the "writecomments.aspx" file in a Greybox popup-window. It works, but I want to close the window from codebehind (or javascript) after the comment is written. And then I want to refresh the blog page (the parent page) to show the new comment.
This is the code that opens the greybox (writecomments.aspx) page:

In the writecomments.aspx file, I just have 2 textboxes and 1 button (save-button). How can I make the greybox window close itself, and then somehow refresh the blog.aspx? Or maybe just a specific updatepanel for the current comments?

I got it working, I had to put this code in the codebehind, after the db-insert: Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(), "close", "parent.parent.GB_hide();", true); And for the refresh of the parent page, I edited the gb_scripts.js file on line 12 from false to true: this.reload_on_close=true;

Actually, I modified it a bit, so, I put the gb_scripts.js file back to it's default state, and I just just the followig line of code in the WriteComments.aspx codebehind file, just after the db-insert:

Now, the Greybox is closing, and then, the blog page is refreshing, just like I want :)
I want to make auto partial page refresh in asp.net. There is UpdatePanel but it sends too much data. So I've found that I can make a webservice and call it by the JavaScript code. But I don't know how to call webservice automatic. There are many examples showing how to call webservice by the button click event:

I've implemented a Wizard in which most steps are UserControls. One of these steps contains a DropDownList and a RadioButtonList. Depending on the item selected in the DropDownList, some items in the adioButtonList are disabled or enabled via a callback. This works fine.
Then I added a ToolkitScriptManager to the page (EnablePartialRendering="true") and wrapped the controls in this particular step in an UpdatePanel's ContentTemplate. Running inside of VS2008, the appropriate radio buttons are disabled or enabled as expected in response to changes in the DropDownList without a full page refresh. It feels much more response and looks slick.
Then I deploy to the test server and suddenly the partial-page refresh is gone, the whole page is redrawing as though the script manager and UpdatePanel hadn't been added.
I've tried several variations on this, always with the same result. For instance - I moved the DropDownList outside of the updatePanel and added an AsyncPostbackTrigger for the DropDown's SelectedIndexChange event. No change - works in VS2008 but not on the server. - I added ChildrenAsTriggers="false" UpdateMode="Conditional" to the UpdatePanel, both with the DropDown inside the UpdatePanel and outside the UpdatePanel. No change - works in VS2008 but not on the server.

This upload is working. But why the page is getting refreshed? this is not partial post back and instead it 's full post back. i have read the articles for the fileuplaod with issue inside the update panel. is there any way to achieve this asynchronous upload on button click?

When user lefts the computer after five minutes he is beign automatiacally logged out . And when I submit form by clicking submit button the ContentDiv is beign filled with full site with login panel. I.e. I want to show the full site with login panel NOT in the ContentDiv. Is there any way to avoid this behaviour?

Sorry I'm using a Web-Form "angle", because if I'm using a Web-Form, when I visit Index.aspx, rendering ArticalList.ascx will call public ActionResult ArticalList(). But here I need to write Artical.GetArticals() twice in two actions. How can I put them in one?

I followed the above tutorial creating 2 WebPartZones, and 2 web server controls onto the WebPartZones.There is an arrow icon in the top-right corner of the web server control on each WebPartsZone. Clicking on the arrow revealed 2 links: Minimize and Close.I clicked the Close link of the Web server control, a UserControl, on the second WebPartZone. The WebPartZone2 and User Control then were removed from the web page. I am wondering if Java Spring MVC has some sort of implementation that relates to returning partial views like ASP.NET MVC? Basically I want to return HTML, that is bound to an object and return it to a javascript callback to append to the dom, stead of building the html with Jquery (which is tedious). View 1 RepliesI want a view that contains 2 partialviews. 1 partial view should be a create or edit view (of items) and in the second partial view there should be a list with the items that are created (and which can be edited). When an item in the list is selected for editing the 1st partial view should show the edit view with the item to be edited.
After saving the data, the create view should be shown in the 1st partial view again. When the view comes up for the first time the 1st partialview should contain the create view. In normal ASP.net I would do this with a formview (with insert and edit mode based on the itemselected in the gridview) and a gridview (and of course everything in an AJAX update panel).
I've got a section of code that is common to a whole load of pages, so it makes sense to put it in a partial view. However, part of it's function is declaring and assigning a set of variable that will be used throughout the main page. However, if I move that code off to a partial view and use renderpartial to include it, I get a compiler error saying the variable isn't defined - "The name '<variable name>' does not exist in the current context". Am I missing something basic/silly?
View 9 RepliesI have an "Instruction" view, which have partial views for entering instruction details, different attributes for the instruction, different input values etc for the instruction. Each of which is seperate partial view. The main view have a save button which save all these details. "InstructionDetails" partial view have instruction name, description and its model is "Instruction". "Attribute" partial view have dropdown to select attribute and a textbox to enter its value. It also has an button "Add to list" which is intended to add attribute details to a table which is in the same partial view for attribute, its model is "Attribute". Same is the senario with input values. I have few problems where i am struck up with.When the "Add to list" is clicked in Attribute partial view, the values from the dropdown and textbx need to be listed to the table.When "Save" button is clicked the entire view need to be saved.
