I am doing some custom field validation and throwing a new ValidationException when required, however the message passed as an argument is not displayed when the exception is thrown instead it displays a more generic message.
"The value '...' is invalid." (instead of what ever message i put as an argument.)

But when I type some text in Quantity field and press submit button(or change focus for client validation) I receive validation message 'The field My display name must be a number.' It's independent of using client validation scripts. So Why validation message is not displayed?
I have a requirement that one of multiple fields is required. Using custom validator the even fires, false is returned, but no error message is display and the form validates. What am I missing? I have tried with and without ValidationSummary.

I have almost completed a competition entry form however i now find myself stumbling over a label which is to display a confirmation message that the entry has been received.
Stepping through the code using debug/breakpoints shows that the code is running the cycle but the end result of the form is just blank fields.

I want to apply styles on the message (i.e. Name field is required) display by the asp.net required field validator control.
Styles=border, padding, background-color, font-color, font-weight, img etc
And I also want highlight the border or asp.net textbox and asp.net dropdown list with which this control is associated.
RequiredFieldValidator does not have style property !
I have a site written for ASP.NET using a library written for ASP. The library resides in a dll and the site calls it to get the number of leave days an employee has left from a database. The dll was outsourced so I don't have access to the source.
I've set up the database and visual studio project locally. When I run the site and login to the system, an error message is displayed where the leave days should be displayed but the site runs normally. If I register the dll using regsvr32, the leave days are displayed when I login, but when I try to browse the rest of the site, the session is dropped and I'm automagically logged out. If I deregister the dll, then I can browse the site once I've logged in again but, once again, the error is displayed.
Can any one let me know about the below issue. I have a page which has three labels, say startdate,enddate and username. My issue is if the user doesnot select any of the above three then a message gets displayed as "Please select one search criteria" or if the user doesnot enter the date in correct format then i dispaly "Please enter date in mm/dd/yy" format. But what is happening is first time if the user doesnot select any then "Please select one search criteria" is getting displayed and after this message gets displayed if the user enters wrong format of date then both the messages are displayed.
View 5 RepliesI've got a Varchar2 field in my table which I want to convert to a CLOB. I am unsure whether the data would get truncated when selected. If so, what is the limit and does it depend on the database settings?
In my TOAD or SQLPLUS window it gets truncated but this may just be the environment settings. I'm not sure whether it would get truncated in my actual application (I can test this, but up to what size should I test?)
If it does get truncated, what's the best way to display the whole CLOB? There are other fields in my SELECT query, so I think I can't just loop through multiple rows. Is there any way out?
I been stack for the last few days trying to figure out the SilverLight 4 LineSeries graph, for some strange reason the graph being displayed but the line not being displayed. Some of the textboxes are binded to required field validators.there is a validation control on the page and ShowMessage box is True.If they dont complete some of the text boxes then the message box pops Up with the error message.It does not however include information errors like "User already exists" or Email address already existsfrom the create user wizard membership UserName and Password Textboxesis it possilbe to hook all of these up so I get one message box with all errors including membership ones?

When the user trying to login, the default literal msg will show out. Is there any way i can do it more specifically like if the user enter the wrong password only, the literal msg show: "Wrong password entered" insteaed of the default msg?
Same goes to the change password control, for any error msg it just show the long msg but does not tell user whats wrong with the entered valueim trying to do something like if the user enter the wrong password, the literal msg show the one i wan to show.

I would like to write a loop that sends an smtp message to a list of emails that I'm getting from a database.
I wrote a loop where I used message.to.add(recipient) first to add all the emails to the recipients collection.
However when the e-mail was received each recipient sees the entire list of recipients. How do I send to only
one recipient at a time, or prevent each recipient from seeing who all the other recipients are?
I have tried in many way but the error message for custom validator is not shown in validation summary but it(ValidationSummary) shows error message for every other type of validator.

I have a master.css page for the masterpage and I'm linking in another css file for the content area on the page_load event. The page loads correctly but inside the textarea is the css code for everything after the textarea box. I've looked over the the source and can't find any unmatched css tags. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what might cause this?
