Notice that SelectionId is not decorated with [Required]. In my view, i use DropDownFor like this:

I no longer get the error if i dont select anything, which is what i want - but no way to bind it to the id if the user does select something
I usually only write in ASP, so I am not very familiar with this script. Can anyone tell me how to how to request a querystring so I can use it to pull the image location. Like this.

I am getting a CS0120 error when trying turn a button visible after checking some variables. In plain english, If AmmohelpSession.UserActions contains AmmohelpEnums.UserAction.ArticleEdit then turn the Edit button visible. Here is my comparison:

In the code behind for AmmohelpSession, a public class AmmohelpSession which contains a private variable: private HashSet<UserAction> _userActions; has been stated. In that same file, there is a public function for the UserActions that does a get or set method.In the code behind for AmmohelpEnums, we are setting byte variables to specific actions. Mine would be something like:

I have a ViewModel that contains an EntityObject and when I use a HtmlHelper like this

Given the above scenario, I would have thought that submitting the form with a blank ProductId would have been fine because I didn't decorate the ProductId property with [Required]. However I get the error message "The ProductId field is required".
Is there any way to make an Integer property on the model not required?
I have a viewmodel with a property of a model class type. I set some properties in the model class to be able to show it to the user but then when I make a post, the model gets validated. How to overcome this? I don't want to enforce the DataAnnotations contraint in this case....

i am working on web-form for which I have set the validation summary showmessagebox = "true". I have two required field validators, which trigger on a checkbox's OnCheckedChanged event....now my problem is, when I hit submit, the page does not submit if I do not enter any values in the text boxes..which is correct behavior but it does not point out to the error or does not display the message box...i have to scroll up to see what is wrong with he page and then try to enter the values...I do not understand why my message box does not show up or at least why my setfocusonerror which is set to true does not show me the text boxes. find my code below.....

I have a textbox with a required field validator and two buttons .One to save and other to cancel the action. On clicking the cancel button i am clearing the text entered in textbox.
The required filed validators is working on the save button if the textbox is empty. But on my cancel button click the required field validators message is blinking .

Basically I have RegisterModel2 that has a Person class. My requirement is that Phone Number and Address are not required for registration. But if they try to enter a Phone number of Address then it should validate it. Problem is that it is always stating that the child fields of Phone (area code, number) and child fields of Address (street1,city,etc) are required. Is there a way to annotate in the RegisterModel that a parent class is not Required but if any data in a child element is given then and only
then should the child elements be validated?

Some of the textboxes are binded to required field validators.there is a validation control on the page and ShowMessage box is True.If they dont complete some of the text boxes then the message box pops Up with the error message.It does not however include information errors like "User already exists" or Email address already existsfrom the create user wizard membership UserName and Password Textboxesis it possilbe to hook all of these up so I get one message box with all errors including membership ones?
View 3 RepliesBy default in login template, in case user key in the wrong user name or password, the literal message will show the default error message, "Your login attempt unsuccessful..."What i trying to do is, I have a function in my system to disapprove a member, after the member is disapproved, he/she will not allow to login anymore. When the user trying to login, the default literal msg will show out. Is there any way i can do it more specifically like if the user enter the wrong password only, the literal msg show: "Wrong password entered" insteaed of the default msg?
Same goes to the change password control, for any error msg it just show the long msg but does not tell user whats wrong with the entered valueim trying to do something like if the user enter the wrong password, the literal msg show the one i wan to show.
