I am relative new to use Linq to SQL and MVC together, I am tring to save data to db when an Edit action is posted, I am able to get it to work, but I am sure there are better ways. Here is my code snippet:
public ActionResult Edit(FaqCategory form)
// db is a FaqCategoryDataContext declared in class scope [code]....
FaqCategory only has 3 properties so it's not much a bother to write codes this way, but what if the class has 20 properties? There must be better ways
Basically I have a website that will ask the user for their name, e-mail, interests, and comments. The part I need assistance with is when they click the submit button that it saves the data into a table on the SQL database. I have the form created exactly how I want it but I don't fully understand how to get the submit button to save this data to the database.
I like to know an efficient way to save a form's data before inserting into the database?
scenario:I have a aspx page with a form that a user can fill in data such as CustomerID, Address1.
If the user clicks on a button say "More Address", I want to temporarily save this data maybe in a array or other way thru code behind .cs....
Then allows to enter another Address2 on the form. The user then click on a button "Done" to submit. At this point I want to take the data from the previous entry i.g. Address1 along with second entry Address2 and insert into DB.
What is the easiest way to save form data and retrieve it when the user navigates back to the page?
We have an application process that consists of several web forms. If the user clicks to go back a step we would like to auto-populate the fields. I am assuming there is a common generic way to do this without having to mess with individual controls - what is it?
I've got a form that inserts data into a database using ASP.NET 2.0 . The problem is that when I hit the submit button on FireFox, the page submits and I'm redirected to the correct page. The problem is that the data isn't actually saved. When I try this on IE, it works fine. When I try this on FireFox using another browser it works fine. When I mirrored the application and data locally and use FireFox, it works fine.
It just doesn't work on production, and it seems like only my FireFox is having this problem. I've cleared out the cache in FireFox already, but it still doesn't work.Any ideas what is going on? I can't tell if this is client side or server side, and there is no way to debug right now.
So I have a pdf file and I stored the name of the file eg nadine_grow.pdf in a field in a table. However while researching I realise inorder to search through a pdf for keywords you need to save the pdf in a binary form.
1. How do I convert or save the file name into a binary form? Also what would be the dataType 'binary'? 2.If i have this file name stored in binary format for each file I can search through the pdf using this sql query I saw : SELECT * FROM [ClientKnowledgeManagement].[dbo].[tb_article] WHERE CONTAINS(<Binary data>, '"%Ashton%"')?
I have a webform (parent) with embedded webgrid(child) which uses sqldatasource. What I wanted to accomplish is to save both the form data and the grid data when the Save button is clicked. I tried to save form data(parent) in sqldatasource1_inserting event, does not work. I think there should be a way to do it, just do not know how.
I wanted to have a gridview control where the columns are not saved to a database until a save button is pressed. But, the grid should be able to
allow the user to add rows, edit rows, and delete rows, but not save any data to the database of course until the button is pressed. So, there needs to be some sort of temporary data structure to bind to (or to save each row to), and then just save the contents of that data structure. Of course, if the user deleted a row, that data structure should keep track of that deleted row's ID for example, then delete those rows that are marked for delete only when the one button (save) is pressed.
I've already got a grid that is bound to a table working just fine, but what would be the easiest way to do this?
I want to do something similar to what priceline does. It saves the recent searches in a dropdown menu. When you pick one from the recent search. The form will be populated accordingly. (See screen shot [URL] This is what I am thinking. (1) Save the searches into an array in a cookie (2), when a recent search item is chosen, retrive the corresponding array element from the cookie and then populate the form. What do you think is the best way to implement this? I especially want to know how to save the form entries into the cookie and how to populate the form.
I'm building an application that processes application forms. I'm hoping I can get an advice on how to approach it properly. There are 4 forms right now but it will have a possibility of having more. Most of them have the same fields but each have 4 or 5 items not existing within other forms.
What is the best way for me to store this data (and what sql data type) for me to easily retrieve and update it. I am using SQL Server 2005.
I have a web form called default.aspx which has a form with user information. In addition to this, I have an iFrame on the same page that displays a page Secondary-Form.aspx that has a few additional dynamic data fields. I need to do two things.
1. I need to pass the parent form data in real time to the iFrame page to refresh its content and modify it's fields accordingly. Example: If the user submits their Vehicle Choice as Car on parent form, the form item in iFrame will display a radio button that says Honda, and if the user submits their Vehicle Choice as MotorCycle in the parent page, the iFrame will display Harley Davidson as the radio button choice
2. The submit button is on the parent page. I want both pieces of this information (from the parent page, as well as iFrame selection) to be passed to a server side ASPX page to process this information.the default.aspx and Secondary-Form.aspx files are located on different domains.
I am creating an application using ASP.Net and C#. The situation is, I have a radio button (which has 'Yes' and 'No' option) on Form 1. If i click on the Yes, it takes me Form 2, where the relevant information is filled. On Form 2, there is a command button, which when clicked, takes me back to Form 1. The problem is that when the command button is clicked on Form 2, the data on Form 1 disappears. What do i write on the ISPOSTBACK to check this....
How do you use the http POST method with a Grid View on another page. I am trying to use the POST method to send the ID from the selected row of a Grid View, I am using a link button set to fire the select command and it has the Post Back URL set, from one page and then retrieve the ID value on another page using an Object Data Source. Also, under the Defining Parameters, I am setting the ID parameter to Form Parameter Source and have entered the Grid Views name in the Form Field.
My page (which basically contains a pair of Repeaters) renders and is displayed to the user.I'd like to have a "Download" button on the page which, when clicked, will propmt the user to save the page locally as an html file without losing any of the CSS formatting.
I'm serving images through an httphandler and when the user goes to save the image via the right click save file browser, full URL of the image is displayed instead of only the file name. How do I rewrite or change this image url to make it more user friendly?[URL]
Or do I need to create my own image save/export menu and chop off that file name when saving?
