I have scan through the many page of techniques here on this site to figure out how to play a youtube video on my site. Here is how my application is suppose to work. The user takes the url of the video on youtube and place it in a textbox to save to a database. On thier page, the video should play. I have attempted to use the aspflashvideo control but I don't think it can take just the youtube url.
I have been trying to use Media player which is apart of the .net framework 3.5 in my web page, which work find with wmv video formats but doesn't work for any other video formats. This is frustrating, I really need some The video files is stored in a directory on the client eg. /Videos/bear.mpg The path to the video file is stored in sql server database. I am using asp.net c# language.
I am preparing youtube videos in a site.I didn't get this.
Question:" In Page i am Placing "YouTube Video" and under that i'm uploading some more videos in .Net" when i click the video it will display the Video in that particular "YouTube" and the videos will store in database.
I'm trying to create a video upload and sharing feature on my site where people can upload their WMV, AVI, MOV or MPEG files, and the system converts it immediately to a Flash FLV file, just like YouTube, so visitors using any browser can playback the videos without having to install any software.
But I'm really not sure how to get started doing it. I read there is Swish Video2 and Inlet Media. But these look like standalone packages. Can they be integrated with a web app? Fyi, my site is hosted on a shared web server, so I can't install any software on the server. Would if someone could point me in the right direction on this.
i have a page setup where users can create a profile page, i would like it so they can copy and paste an embed youtube script of their youtube video into a text box and then on their profile page have it display that video. how do i get it so they can copy and paste that embeded script into into say a textbox and then have it show up in there created profile page?
the rest of the stuff they enter are things such as name, location, etc, which is all just text that gets moved over to the profile page fine, however i dont know how to get it so this script text is placed as a script in the profile page and not transfered as just text printed to the screen.

Embedding a single youtube video is basic and understood to me, But I have a Band Page which is loaded with different values (depends on the band Name from previous) page, I would like to add a different video for each band (obviously), So I understand that I need to add a column to my DB with the specific URL for each video, but then what? I have this query: SELECT VidURL FROM Bands where band name = 'bandName' How do I put the specific URL I get from a query on the page?
Also, I want to know how to save a textbox value like the String of URL of a youtube video in the database and the code to retrieve that value.
I am using asp server controls like a textbox and a button, a sqlDataSource control to connect to the database. I have a also created a database and a table in to save the URL. But I dont know the code to actually save the value of the textbox in the table by clicking on a button.
Also what type of value should i use to save the URL like nvarchar(max)?

I have a Test.wmv file and I created a Test.wvx file with the following content:
My question is on line 3 above I put ???? where I dont know what that should be if I store the wmv in the root of my website and/or what should it be if I create a Videos subfolder from my webroot folder and placed both the wvx and wmv files in that folder.
I am using a linkbutton to point to the wvx file like:
I have a bunch of .swf flash movies to play on a website - developed by someone else. Ideally, I'd like to have the user administrator upload the flash files to a folder on the website and then have users play them back as requested.
In my DB, I have a table with the flash file name. While I can easily do the file upload and the links on the page, I have been futzing with different flash controls for a week and can't see how to make this work with ASPNetFlash (and the forum request there has been unanswered so I don't know if this is possible).
The user would click on an activity in a table like this:
View Activity Ruler
View Activity Clock
Then, through a query string, I would pass the flashID to another page for playing the movie. The MovieURL field would be something like: ~/FlashFiles/Flashfilename.swf where the Flashfilename is dependent on which activity the user selected.
I use Visual Web Developer 2008 Express, VB, SQL 2005. ASPNetFlash and the few other controls I have explored work fine when the Flashfilename.swf is hardcoded on the page. They claim to allow parameters to be dynamically assigned, but I have not found any examples where this really works for the MovieURL parameter.
