I'm using the ReportViewer control on my .aspx page which displays a single report based on various user parameter selections. Dropdown2 is dependent on the DropDown1 selection (i.e. the user selects Unit A from DropDown1 and that results in 10 selections under Dropdown2, or the user selects Unit B from DropDown1 and that results in 15 selections under DropDown2, and so on). The user makes the selections, clicks the "Run Report" button, and the report displays as expected. The user then can export to Excel or PDF
I've received a request to allow users to run the report for all possible selections and export to their desired format rather than having to run the report for each separate DropDown1 and DropDown2 selection. So in other words, they don't even want to see the report on the screen, they just want to be able to click a button that runs the report for all possible parameter selections and export it to a single Excel or PDF document.
I am trying to call a reporting services report in Report view if I click ID For example, if I click ID 1001 ..it will pass the parameter 1001 And run a reporting services report in Report viewer on new web page..
How can I do this? Is there a example I can take a look?
We have some reports that are loaded on a asp.net webpage via the localreport.render() and a request has come in to hide a logo image if it is displayed inline as html on the page and only show the image if it's rendered as a pdf.
is there any way to determine the render mode in the report so i can create an expression to set the display property to hidden for the logo image if it's not pdf mode?
Report viewer from SQL reporting services in VS 2008 report control If I create a new report in VS 2008 they have a .rdlc extension and work correctly.
I have some reports that I was using in SQL reporting services. Extensions are .rdl and want to get them to work with VS 2008.
I copied the rdl files and the .rdl.data files over to VS 2008 (SP1) project but when I go to select the report in the control it does not see the file (I assume it is looking for a .rdlc file)
I tried rename the file to .rdlc and loaded the file up and got
The report definition has an invalid target namespace [URL] which cannot be upgraded.
I see this
[URL]
[URL]
It says
"RDL files are fully compatible with the ReportViewer control runtime. However, RDL files do not contain some information that the design-time of the ReportViewer control depends on for automatically generating data-binding code. By manually binding data, RDL files can be used in the ReportViewer control."
But the link for how to manual bind the data is broken.
Can you please point me to an example of how to implement drill down in RDLC? I am in a situation where the first report appears perfectly, but when I click on a drill down link , i get an error A data source instance has not been supplied for the data source 'RecuirtmentDataSet_ProfileTracker'.
I am working with SSRS reports .I have one report called AllOrderDails with Order_No, Order_Date, Project_Name, Boiler_Name, RefNo, Total_NoItems, Total_GrossWeight, Expected_Date .It shows all order Details ,when i click Order_No it shows another report called OrderDetails. It shows only single Order_No details....In OrderDetails page i am using one textbox for back .It is for going back to AllOrderdetails.
My problem is when i click Order_No in AllOrderDetails page it's show OrderDetails page withrelated Order_No,when i click back it goes to AllOrderDetails Page but It's not displaying any data...
I'm working on a project where we will be interacting with the ReportService2010 reporting web service under SQL Server 2008 R2. In the past, I've worked with the ReportService2005.asmx, and my problem here is, I can't find any reasonable examples on how to render a report with this new (2010) reporting web service.
When using the 2005 web service, there was a "Render" method that was provided when creating your proxy with the wsdl.exe utility. Is there an equivalent method (or set of methods), to accomplish the same thing using the ReportService2010 service? Or are there any decent examples of an end-to-end intialization and calling of the new proxy?
Even MSDN doesn't have much information, and in certain parts of the ReportService2010 API docs, there are old snippets of code that were only applicable to the 2005 web service.
UPDATE: A better question might be how have things changed between SSRS 2008 and SSRS 2008 R2 with regard to calling the report service(s) programmatically...I can see that even under SSRS 2008 R2, there still exists a ReportService2005.asmx, as well as a ReportExecution2005.asmx, but there is not a corresponding ReportExecution2010.asmx.
SOLUTION UPDATE:
After talking to someone at my company, I was informed of the following:
The 2006 web service was introduced to support sharepoint integration in 2008. The ReportService2010 web service was introduced to merge all the functionality introduced by 2006 with the 2005 web service. ReportService2005 web service will continue to be used for report execution. I don't know why, but something tells me it has to do with business decisions for backwards compatibility. My coworker said we are intended to continue to use ReportExecution2005 for rendering, and ReportService2010 for all other functionality (querying the SSRS server for reports, params, etc).
For many of the pages I build, I don't wish to have the ReportViewer visible until firing an event such as a button click. Using .Net 4.0 and ReportViewer10, however, throws the error "Message: Sys.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: panelsCreated[1]" if you try to keep a panel containing the ReportViewer hidden until after a button click.Since I couldn't find much about this topic online, I'd basically been working around this for some time until I figured out today that if you reset the ReportViewer ReportPath in the code behind in the button click (even if it's the same path as in the aspx page), you can successfully keep the ReportViewer hidden until the button click.
I have created many reports in my ASP.Net 3.5 app's and using VB Code-behind. I have the following code that will take the report from the reportviewer and on a click of a button, export it to PDF. So now, I can hide the reportviewer and just have the button click events generate my PDF's. I do not know how to tweak this code to enable me to print directly from another button's click event without the reportviewer being visible.

What I am looking for is how to fill the tableadapter that I am using in the .xsd dataset file to the I do not have to incorporate reportviewers anymore?I know my code above would need to be adjusted so that its not looking at ReportViewer1 for the Report/Data... But I do not know how to do this.
I'm looking for the Report Header section in the Report Services report and can only see Page Header/Page Footer, where can I find the Report Header/Report Footer? or RS doesn't have them? My problem is, I use the Page Header to include the Report Name & Desc. along with client's Logo, it works however my client doesn't want the Page Header to show on every page just the first page is good enough save papers and keep larger report small.
when i run the webpage from my dev machine its works perfectly but after i deployed it to our webserver i had a problem where the reports did not display on the webpage. I eventually get the report to display on the webpage but now i am having a problemwhere the datepicker does not appear on the webpage
I want to know how to open an RDLC Report in a pop up. I have taken an asp.net web application. I have added an rdlc and created a dataset and a report with the data from datasaet. In the web form I have taken a report viewer control and have binded the report. Now i have a view report button. When I click on viewReport button, the report should open as a popup. if there are any parameters like drop downs in the main page these also should be passed to the popup.
I am working with rdlc reports. I have an asp.net web form where i'll select a parameter (substance name)from a dropdown. When I click on view reports button, the report should open in a pop up. I am passing the ID(substance ID) from dropdown in query string to the popup page.
When I click on view reports button, the report should open in a pop up. For this I have taken report viewer control in another aspx page. The code in the aspx.cs page which contains the report viewer control is as follows :
I have taken two rdlc reports. The main report has the parameter SubstanceID. The child report has parameter substance name. When I click on one particular textbox in main report it should navigate to another report. So, in textbox properties of main report in Navigation tab,I am giving "jump to report"--child report name and parameters "@SubstanceName" and its Parametervalue as :
=Fields!SubstanceName.Value.
When I work out this report in server side reporting(ReportServerProject) it works as expected. But in coding it throws an error :
An error occurred during local report processing.
An attempt was made to set a report parameter '@SubstanceName' that is not defined in this report.
I have taken a report viewer and two ObjectDataSources....one for parent report and other for child report.
The code for the page that contains report viewer is as follows:
