I want to make use of Word and PDF export feature of SSRS in my .net Application.In my webpage i have a dataset with all the required data, now i want to call report viewer API and pass it to the report and generate the report and get the PDF output.I can query directly in my report, but its a complex query and i already have that data on my page. Now i just want to fill a tablix and generate the report.

I have to display the report, For this i have used stored procedure that returns the complete dataset for the reporting.
The scenario is that, In SP there is ID instead of actual display name, and i need to display the name. The actual problem is that to get the name instead of ID, we have to query in another DB.
So,
Is it possible to query to another DB to get Name instead of ID ??
Or,
Can we pass the complete Dataset to the report viewer page from the ASPX page. As in the aspx page it is easier to calculate the name from ID.

View 1 RepliesHave an asp.net app with a local rdlc report based off an xsd dataset. Was working fine, but i needed to add another field, so I added it to the dataset through the designer (right click, add column) and then added the field to the rdlc report.
My problem is it won't compile - keep getting the error:
The Value expression for the textbox 'Description' refers to the field 'ShortDesc'. Report item expressions can only refer to fields within the current data set scope or, if inside an aggregate, the specified data set scope.
I've cleared the cache, deleted temporary internet files without luck.
So how do i get the new field to show up for the report?
i am getting my dataSet from web service and want to know the method to bind it to the rdlc report. how to do it in VB?

i create typed dataset and i create my report using this dataset in another page i create report viewer when i set the report source for the report viewer using wizard automatically the reportviewer generate 3 ReportDataSource one for each table it is working correctly but when i try to set the report using code the report dislplayed successfully but it is empty? here is my code to bind to dataset

Is there any way to unsort a sorted report without refreshing it? For example we a provide the interactive sorting feature in some of our reports and one of the user is requesting for the data to go back to the original unsorted condition, after he sortsit. We have recommended the option to refresh the report but according to the user it takes too long. Does any one know of any unsort feature or code for SSRS 2005 that will do the job without refreshing the whole dataset?

Till now I used to design RDLC file before and assigned typed dataset table columns.Report processing mode is local. But now my stored procedure returns different columns based on condition i.e columns are not fixed every time. Now I need to add that columns to typed dataset and dataset is assigned to RDLC file. So dataset and RDLC files are create dynamically based on stored procedure result set columns.

I have some reports that I was using in SQL reporting services. Extensions are .rdl and want to get them to work with VS 2008.
I copied the rdl files and the .rdl.data files over to VS 2008 (SP1) project but when I go to select the report in the control it does not see the file (I assume it is looking for a .rdlc file)
I tried rename the file to .rdlc and loaded the file up and got

View 1 RepliesI am working with SSRS reports .I have one report called AllOrderDails with Order_No, Order_Date, Project_Name, Boiler_Name, RefNo, Total_NoItems, Total_GrossWeight, Expected_Date .It shows all order Details ,when i click Order_No it shows another report called OrderDetails.It shows only single Order_No details....In OrderDetails page i am using one textbox for back .It is for going back to AllOrderdetails.
My problem is when i click Order_No in AllOrderDetails page it's show OrderDetails page withrelated Order_No,when i click back it goes to AllOrderDetails Page but It's not displaying any data...

When i select a country , only one tablix Gets visible and the other 9 tablix gets invisible.. The problem is that all the invisible tablix are calling sp that is dataset ... as you can see this issue is that the scr is always a null string.

We have an issue with an internal application, where accessing it from LAN (private n/w) works fine, while access from external n/w throws up erratic behavior.
The Current System :
an aspx page (asp version 1.0) hosted on the IIS server (6.1). The front end is a vb form that connects to a sql 2000 database.
Users' credentials authorized using NTLM security.
Access from an external n/w - a reverse proxy configured with an ISA server 2006 to authenticate credentials.
Domain Controller - Windows Server 2008 R2 x64
The issue when accessed from external n/w :
everytime an entry from a drop-down is selected from an Ajax enabled control, instead of the fields populating, the page gets refreshed and the content of the box are cleared.
Also, clicking on other items that normally hyperlink to other pages, results in nothing happening.
Upon investigation, we realized that :
Everytime it fails, a string - "&AuthResend" followed by an alpha numeric string is attached, which attempts to authenticate the user's credentials everytime a request is made to the server.
ISA error logs yielded the following error msg :
"12210 Internet Server API ( ISAPI ) has finished handling the request. Contact your system administrator. "
This behavior is inconsistent except when accessed from Google Chrome, where it fails each time.
We have applied all the recommended hot fixes from Microsoft's KB pages.
I need to make a report with a hidden header , But I need to show the header Only when printing or exporing to Excel or PDF.
