SQL Server :: How To Use Query To Get Related Data
Jan 3, 2011
I have a table articles where i keep all the records of the articles wriiten by people online. Now i need to retrieve related articles based on the title i guess. I tried doing that using my stored procedures with the LIKE operator, but i guess that doesn't work because it does not take the whole string of the title and match with the ones in the database.
I would like to query and find all related massages that have the same head line. I have use the headline as actionlink but I have no clue how to continue from here, (I using a repository and IRepository models against EF4 in mvc 2 )
I have a basic CMS which I'm adding to a site to display some downloads organised into groups. I have two tables, one for the groups and one for the downloads. I'm using a repeated to display the groups with another repeater inside to display the children. This works perfectly.
However some of my download groups may not have any downloads related to them and I'd like to handle this by filter the groups so that only those with a relate download record(s) are shown.
I'm trying to do this with the query which populates the top repeater based on some ideas I read but I must be going wrong with the syntax.
Here is what I'm using to try and only select downloads groups which have downloads linked to them by the download group ID.
[Code]....
Can anyone offer any thoughts on how I should construct the query to perform this?
I try to login to SQL Server Management Studio, using Windows Authentication and I get the error message:
Cannot connect to L-VAIOsqlexpress.

Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. I am using Sql Server 2008 to connect to a Remote Server. Everything was working fine for the last couple of months, and i was successfully connecting to the remote server. Today it suddenly stopped connecting to the remote server. note that i did not alter any configuration settings. Did my isp block Sql Server. My ISP is using ISA SERVER? The error details are:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (.Net SqlClient Data Provider) I am using Microsoft Firewall Client For ISA Server for opening ports. But today nothing is working.
I want to make a video page like you tube. The page displayibg the current video and the right panel displays thumbnails for related videos I thought to choose from my db the related videos according to the video title. I used a query to select videos from my videos table where video title like the title of the current video. and I get the current title from the Videolabel.text this always gives me one result which is the same video I want a way to divide the words of the video title label to search with each word to find many results related to my video
I've created a small website with a simple sqlite database using vwd 2010 .net 4. In dev and test envionments everything works fine, however when i promote to my hosting provider i receive the following error:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections.
I've been configuring the connection strings (autogenerated from entity framework and attached db) but unable to get it working on the hosting provider, I'm assuming it's related to permissions but not entirely sure how to resolve - here's the web.config as it stands:
I just installed sql server 2008 R2 on my computer. I am trying to connect to sql server throught my C# code and everytime I run the C# program,
I get this error "A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server.
The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) "

I have the folloing sql server error from my ASP.NET website.
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
This seems to be a network related issue. But on the same machine where IIS is running, I have another C# application running that is not experiencing this problem. This happens after the website has been running for a few weeks. Will this be because the database connections are opened but not closed properly?. I wrote a test web page where i just open connection but not close it and I got Time out error when connection pooling is maxed out. Is this memory issue? Memory that are allocated are not deallocated in timely fashion?..
Everything is working fine for a few weeks and after that I get the above network error.
I recently did an OS reinstall and tried to use my previously-working projects. I found that there was trouble connecting to the database for my aspnetdb.mdf. I have also tried a new project and adding a database to the project but I get the error 'a network related or instance specific...' error. I have tried reinstalling sql server 2005 express but still no luck. When I fire up sql server management studio i see the server name is the same as my computer name. I remember before the os reinstall that the server name was 'sqlexpress'.Anybody got any ideas as to how I can create databases inside of visual web developer again?
I would like to update new records that get inserted in DataSet to Sql Server Database. Below is a working example of how to do this if you use "DataAdapter.Fill(ds)".
But i don't want to fill data, becouse i don't need data, i only need shema (I will use this dataset to insert new data to Sql), so i would like to use "DataAdapter.FillSchema(ds)"

I am trying to create statitics for game downloads and am having dificulty with a sub part of my query. the goup by command is not having the disired result and i think i have been looking at it too long to see what i am doing wrong. [Code]....
At the moment it is producing each result in many rows when only 4 rows should appear. its the download column that is doing it. needs to be sub queried or something to display total in relation to month, gameid, userid.
I am trying to display this query result in an aspx page.
It is very slow in loading. Here is the query. The inner query inside the outer quesry is the problem.(Please see the underlined part in the query) - (If I remove that part it is very fast.)
select
