SQL Server :: Server Log For All The Changes To SQL Tables In SQL Server 2008
Jan 24, 2011
There are more than 30 tables in my database.
I need to have a server log that will help to determine the number of items entered into the db and where those items are entered, without having query each table. It should be able to give me the average monthly volume of items input in SQL.
Can this be done using Sql Triggers or any other alternative?
I have to make sure that if I use trigger as the alternative I should have only one table to be updated with all the details of the Updates/Inserts being inserted into the Trigger table after the insertion into the original table.
Below given are some of the create table statements that I have for which I need to have a server log of the updates & inserts.
how to connect the two tables of the sql server 2008 databse in C#.
in this there are two tables
1) Tour header(id, name, city, destination)
2) Tour Detail(id, tour id, day no, title, description, images)in this id of tour header and tour id of tour header will be same.now i want to retrieve the data on the basis of when id==tour id.how can we can run the query of two tables.
This issues has been driving me nuts. I am trying to follow the tutorial on [URL] I am trying to connect to a database in Microsoft SQL Server 2008. The way I do this is by right clicking on the "Data Connections" > Add Connection. Afterwards the Add Connection window comes up, I make sure my data source is "Microsoft SQL Server (SqlClient). And, I choose a server name; the only server I can choose is DomainSQLEXPRESS. The issue is when I go down to the "Select or enter a database name" drop down box, I do not see my database listed. I have also made sure in the SQL Server Management Studio that I have given my user all the privileges for the database. I know my explanation is kind of vague, but would anyone know the reason why I would not see my database?
I have an excel sheet with 2 tabs and has data in those 2 sheets(sheet1, sheet2) which correspond to different tables in the same database. This excel sheet gets updated daily, I am wiriting a console app( which will later be a batch build). I have to insert the data from the excel sheet to corresponding tables (table1, table2,table3) in database when i run it and and also if the table has the same data already present it should ignore and if there are any modifications done the data it should update the table. I know we can do this using ado.net or LINQ, I am a little new to database based programming .
I am trying to transfer some tables and stored procedures from SQL Server 2005 to Express 2008. I have tried using Management studio, but it isn't working....
Would something be missing, not working, or confusing if I do this? First, install SQL Server 2008 Standard, and SP1. Then, install Visual Studio 2010 Professional, unchecking SQL Server 2008 Express option. Or would I need to fix any configurations afterwards?
I used SQL SERVER 2008 R2 express as my web development database and I set its compatibility level to 2005. Unfortunately this database cannot be be attached to SQL server 2005. Are there any other options?
I just installed SQL Server 2008 Management studio Express on my Vista machine.i tried connecting to local machine using :
.sqlexpress, (local)sqlexpress, or .SQLExpress, MyPCNAMESQLExpress
nothing is working, getting this error:
----------------------------- Cannot connect to PC-NAMESQLEXPRESS. A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) ----------------------------
Previous developers have developed a .SSISDeploymentManifest file (SQL Server 2005) to install SSIS packages which prompts a Package Installation wizard. I tried to install it on SQL Sever 2008 (it works on SQL Server 2005), but it failed with the error: "Storing or modifying packages in SQL Server requires the SSIS runtime and database to be the same version. Storing packages in earlier versions is not supported".
How do I install 2005 SSIS packages on SQL Server 2008? I have all the .dtsx files, not sure how to install them?
I have 5 GB data, when I move from SQL server 2000 to 2008 with Import and Export wizard, my LDF size is increased to 30 GB, Can I reduce my LDF file or move. In my one of the table contain around 20 Lakh data which i have normalized in 2008 and create 4 tables, so my data is entering in normalized form in 2008. But due to size by hard disk is full. I have used shrnik command but it reduce to only 1 GB.
I'm using the full-text feature on SQL Server 2008 RC2. Everything had been working well until today. I wanted to change the language for word breakers from Neutral to Slovakia. After I did that, I can't perform full-text search anymore. It simply give me no rows. I even deleted the old full-text catalog and created a new one and populated it, but it still gave no solutions. I tried to query dm_fts_index_keywords_by_document on my table and get only 1 row with a display term END OF FILE.
Could anyone tell me the features comparision between sql server 2000, 2005 and 2008 in the table format like below. sql server 2000 features | Extra features added/supported in 2005 | Extra features supported in 2008
I have SQL Server Standard 2008 installed on my machine, alongside Visual Studio 2008.
My current hosting provider (not a huge fan) requires me to access my db's remotely via SQL Server Management Utility. To date, I've been doing it by connecting remotely in VS2008. Their troubleshooting documentation/steps, though, are for the SQL Server Management Express 2008, and i'm having a lot of connectivity issues with them.
I followed the steps here: [URL] to "add additional features to an existing installation" - but when I did so, the setup wizard indicated that the Management Tools-Basic were already installed.
Does anyone know of any requirements to get the Ajax Control Toolkit (Calendar Extension in particular) working in this OS? I have it working on my local macjine (VS 2010 Development Server) but it doesn't work when published to my Virtual Server running Windows Server 2008 R2. No errors are reported, just nothing happens when I give focus to the Calendar textbox (no Calendar appears).Anyone know of any configutrations that need to be made in Windows Server 2008 R2?Is there a 32-bit/64-bit issue with the Toolkit?
I am using Sql Server 2008 to connect to a Remote Server. Everything was working fine for the last couple of months, and i was successfully connecting to the remote server. Today it suddenly stopped connecting to the remote server. note that i did not alter any configuration settings. Did my isp block Sql Server. My ISP is using ISA SERVER? The error details are:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (.Net SqlClient Data Provider) I am using Microsoft Firewall Client For ISA Server for opening ports. But today nothing is working.
i have a store procedure that load data in a table of SQL SERVER 2008 from an excel file.the issue is, that the excel file have a column of DATE type, and i want that the system interprets the format in it, no matter what comes in it.dd/MM/yyyy mm/dd/yyyyi have an argue about this with my parnerts, cause i think is imposible, if you don't have a format before the process runs.
We have a web application that makes a call to a remotely hosted ASMX service that worked in Server 2003 under IIS6. We are now migrating it to a Server 2008/IIS 7 setup and it doesn't appear that the application makes the call to the remote web service anymore. We ran Wireshark and don't see any traffic to the service URL. It seems to throw a 404 error without trying to connect.
Is there some security policy or restriction in Server 2008 or IIS 7 we need to set to allow an ASP.NET application make a call to a remote web service? We are using Network Service as our application pool user, but also tried using Local System as a troubleshooting step. In addition, the same code works if run from a console application on the server instead of the web application.
Is there some setting under IIS7 or server 2008 that would be causing this?
I am working on the migration of the server. Our new server is Windows server 2008 with IIS7.0 I have a great difficulty in browsing the pages hosted in virtual directories. I have followed the proper steps of creating a virtual directories and converting them into applications. But when i try to browsing the pages of the virtual directory, i get the 404 error. Note: The .Net Framework 4.0 is installed on the server and the web applications which i am trying to configure in the virtual directories are developed in Visual Studio 3.0. Even the http://localhost also don't work.
OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI" for linked server "xx.xxx.xxx.xxx" returned message "The partner transaction manager has disabled its support for remote/network transactions.".
