Search Text Box Using Web Services & Without Using Web Services In .net?
Mar 4, 2010
I am using HTML controls while using Ajax in my .net project. Now I want to make my text box to be autocomplete. I am fetching a data using a query for the respective typed text but i am not sure how to bind that data to text box and show it the way it is being displayed in google and other famous sites. I would also love to know the way using web services. Which way is more efficient?
How to Find All the Web Services and Windows Services Running on a Server in ASP.Net. I have the server details with me and want to find all the Web services running on it.
I am using Visual Studio 2010 Release candidate1. I have to deploy my web application which consists of a website, certain window services, certain WCF services and Sql Server 2005 database.I read Vishal Joshi's blog(http://vishaljoshi.blogspot.com/2009/09/overview-post-for-web-deployment-in-vs.html) detaing Web Package in VS2010. I want to know how to deploy window services and WCF services using Web Package. Also, I want to create a web setup (.msi) for deployment instead of Web Package so that the .msi takes care of all the application and database deployment like the web package does.
I have recently started using SQL Server Reporting services. I currently have a problem. I am trying to achieve a search by dates in a report. I have a table with the fields RequestDate in e.g. 22-Jan-2010 or 23-Sep-2010. I have created a report in Query Designer with two parameters in it RequestDate & RequestDate2.
The Operators are for RequestDate is: Is more than or equal to The value is: 1-Jan-2010 And the Operator for RequestDate2 is: Is less than or equal to. The value is 30-Dec-2010 When i go to the SQL Statement this is produced:
SELECT MHRA.ImportRequestID ,MHRA.UniqueID ,MHRA.CreatedBy ,MHRA.RequestDate FROM MHRA WHERE MHRA.RequestDate >= @RequestDate AND MHRA.RequestDate <= @RequestDate2
When i go to view report i want to be able to search for dates between the dates 1 Jan 2010 and 30-Aug-2010 My query seems to pick up all or most of the results between these dates. How can i build this query so i can get specific results. For example...in the Request Date Parameter box i would put 2-feb-2010 and in Request Date 2 i would put in 5-Jun-2010 and this would return all the results between these dates.
Makes it sense to use ASP.NET applications together with WCF RIA Services or WCF Data Services (to encapsulate the data access layer) ? Or are these technolgies only useful for Silverlight applications.
How i can make the normal search string to sql server full text search parse, because when we are user enyer search text "how to run windows schedule in C#", in database we have article to to this, but data not returning and sometime is say error in key word and etc.
1/ I have an ASP.NET MVC application running on my server, it uses Windows Authentication.
2/ There is different web application (written in Java) somewhere else that also uses Windows Authentication.
In the Controller of my MVC application I need to grab some information from this other Web app. How can I connect to the "foreign" application using the credentials of the user that is accessing my Controller?
Makes it sense to use ASP.NET togehter with WCF RIA Services or WCF Data Services ? Or are these technologies/frameworks only proper for Silverlight primarily ?
am involved in a project with UI comprising mainly of Action Script. My role as an ASP.NET programmer is to pull data from DB using Web Services and supply it as XML to the Action Script.if I could learn more about XML Web Services in ASP.NET.
I am facing the situation in which i have to expose a dll (managed) through web services. Basically make everything from dll accessible to other applications through web services. The dll is a third party and i cannot give any other info on it , but my problem would not depend on this details.
I am looking for the latest best practices (latest tech) approach on how to start this. One thing i have been documented over was Web Service Software Factory, but i do not know how good would this approach be for my situation, and i would welcome some ideas based on experience ofc. The top things i liked and need in my project about the WS Factory were : SOAP faults handling , Entity Translator , Versioning (covering both forward and backward compatibility).
how to deploy website and its referenced web services from Dev environment to production environment by using some easy method.
Our deploy structure is basically like Desktop->Dev Server->Production Server.
Now, I create a web service (just named MailingServices for example), I deploy it Dev Server, the URL link should like: http://192.168.3.17:90/MailingServices.asmx and then I deploy it to production server where link is probably like http://202.70.115.114:90/MailingServices.asmx Now I create one asp.net website to consume this mailing services.
I create this website in my desktop computer, and add a reference to MailingServices Dev link which is http://192.168.3.17:90/MailingServices.asmx, and then I check in the website to its dev environment, this stage is fine: Website Dev reference Web Services Dev.
But If deploy this website into its production server, how can I change the url link of that web services from its dev link to live link?
I currently know that when the website is deployed to production server, you can over-write the link in web.config file of website, but asp.net generates some other XML files when it add a web service reference, well I can over-write these xml files too.

Development Environment: Server: windows 2008 Web: ASP.NET 3.5/4.0, IIS6.0+ Source Control: VSS 2005, we do not have Automation Build & Continuous Integration
my application is composed of several modules: a web site, and a few services that receive requests from client apps. since all these modules manipulate pretty much the same data, I would like to have the same cache for all of them. I'm using a static class to reference nHibernate's 2nd level cache (the SessionFactory object), and I've set up the web site and the web services within the same website on IIS. however, the static SessionFactory variables are different between the web site and web service.
Here is the code for the static SessionManager class:
Can someone explain me about SQL Server Reporting Service and using it in ASP.net?Typically I design my reports by Crystal Report, assign the data source to crystal report an produce my report. What is the benefits of using SQL Server Reporting Service and how to use it?
how to consume wcf rest services in asp.net MVC? there is any standards are available? in my project SOA, so all the data came from wcf 4.0 rest services if there is any coding examples or resources to consume wcf services in MVC 2.0
I'm very new in web programming stuff, so my question is about basics. I'm developing a SilverLight application and need to access the database from it. I'm using LINQ to SQL to get data from database and a WFC web service to deliver it to my app. Everything is working fine when I'm running my app within Visual Studio. When trying to publish the web service to IIS - the web service call fails. To make my question simple, I will focus on a brand new web service. Here the steps I'm doing:
Start Visual Studio 2008 -> File -> New -> Project -> Web -> WCF Service Application Project Name: MyWcfService Resulting Visual Studio generates a sample project with implemented Web Service "Service1" Rebuild, start from Visual Studio (host on ASP.NET Development server) --> Everything works fine, I see my service under http://localhost:52489/Service1.svc link Now I want to host this service on my IIS (I've IIS7 on Vista x86 PC) Visual Studio -> right click Project -> Publish -> target location -> Create new web app named "MyWcfService" -> Publish Just to be sure check my C:inetpubwwwroot folder - now it contains the "MyWcfService" subdirectory with all required files. Open IE on my PC http://localhost/MyWcfService/Service1.svc
The result is:
HTTP Error 404.3 - Not Found
The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the extension configuration. If > the page is a script, add a handler. If the file should be downloaded, add a MIME map. I were trying to remove "identity" section from web.config - same problem. Switching off the firewall does not help either.
We've got problem with ASP.NET web application that uses web services of other system. I'll describe our system architecture: we have web application and Windows services that uses the same web services.- Windows service works all the time and sends information to these web services once an hour.- Web application is designed for users to send the same information in manual behavior. The problem is when user sometimes tries to send information in manual behavior in the web application, .NET throws exception „The operation has timed out" (web?). At that time Windows service successfully sends all necessary information to these web services. IT stuff that supports these web services asserts that there was no any request from our web application at that time. Then we have restarted IIS (iisreset) and everything has started to work fine. This situation repeats all the time. There is no anti-virus or firewall on the server. My suggestion is that there is something wrong with IIS, patches, configuration or whatever? The only specific thing is that there are requests that can least 2 minutes (web service response wait time). We tried to reproduce this situation on our local test servers, but everything works fine.
I am using the new .NET 4 WCF REST web services. In order to link resources, I'd like to put links in my responses. In ASP.NET I can generate URLs from my routing configuration (e.g. UrlHelper.Action(...))
With WCF REST web services I have an ASP.NET routing configuration plus Uri templates:
I want to store related URIs in my result objects. How can I construct URLs from my routing configuration + UriTemplates without hardcoding base URLs or other information?
