Security :: 4 Security Via Windows Authentication - Restrict Access To Safe / UCantSeeMe.aspx

I'm writing a simple Intranet application using windows authentication. I want to restrict access to Safe/UCantSeeMe.aspx. I am aware of the AuthorizeAttribute, but this only works on methods. I also found a good post on doing this with the MVC pattern, but I'm not using MVC. This can be done with roles in forms based security. I read on MSDN that using windows based security means roles are based on groups, but it doesn't go into any detail. how can I restrict access to Safe/UCantSeeMe.aspx?

I need to have a root web site using Windows Authentication and subweb under it as Forms Authentication. But when I access the subweb it still ask me for the Windows Authentication.

I have an intranet site that i set up to windows authentication. It works fine most of the time but some departments wont be able to access the site and will be asked to enter user name and password.I checked their Active Directory account and the only difference i could see was that the organizational unit parameter was different than the rest of the users.

My web application need to list the network share information. The return code is '5' after I call NetShareEnum[Netapi32.dll] in windows integrated authentication.
I found that currently I am using Kerberos protocol to authenticate the access users and the token is grenerated with [TokenImpersonationLevel.Impersonation].
Who know how to resolve this problem? Is there any way to get a token with [TokenImpersonationLevel.Delegation] in Kerberos? BTW, I am sure about that the access user has the Access privilege to list the network share in target server.

Using VS 2010 RC, VB, and Forms authentication to allow access to the site, depending on the login rights of a user, I want to turn on and off access to certain pages. I can turn on and off buttons to access the pages, but a user can type the page into the url, and it will still go to them.

We use Sharepoint to control our websites. We build the sites, then load them into the sharepoint server. My question is if I use windows authentication, how can I get my role security in my web config file to coencide with the asp.net controls that use the Forms authentication. Is there a differenence? Our security uses a session variable for security but there is no where to set up their permissions except in active directory. I hope this makes sense because I would like to implement the LoginView with Role groups but how can I give them the role="administrator"? Do I have to go into active directory and give them these permissions(would take awhile due to the size of the company)? Or do I have to set up priveladges in the web.config file for each user(difficult I think)?

We have created an Intranet Web Application with Windows Authentication.
That asking a prompt to get Username and Password each time when we access the application.
How can we restrict that prompt other than IE --> Security --> Custom Level --> User Authentication.
(Because, with this option we need to set these settings in each and every user's system)

I set authentication mode to Windows in the web.config and I enable Windows Authentication and disable the Anonymous Authentication in IIS 7 on win 7, but HttpContext.Current.User is always null.It works fine when I host the web app in IIS 6.0.

I have been trying to avoid the windows login userid and password window when I use the Windows Authentication mode for a web site. I need to capture the the windows logon user name without prompting for the user id and password and display that on the web site. I had tried almost everything... changed authentication,security setups on IE and IIS etc... still not being able to avoid the window...

I am faced with a rather tricky issue. I am developing a web application that resides beneath a web site. The web application is actually meant for the employees of the company owning the web site. The employees can access the web app from the login facility on the site.
The situation demands that an employee must be able to login to the app only from the office machines and not from anywhere outside. I thought of a logic where in the IP address of the machine in which the employee sits will be stored against the employee profile and when he logs in, the authentication will check for user credentials as well as whether he is logging from the designated IP. If not he is not allowed access to the app even if the login credentials where correct.
I am not sure if this is a good way, because I feel tricky persons can give the same IP of the office machine in another machine, say at home and the logic is broken. Can somebody provide me a better way of solving the issue. I am using ASP.Net login control for user login.

We have a working version of application (Intranet) with uses Windows Authentication deployed in Windows 2003. The application uses HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name to get the logged-in user. Here impersonate is turned off.Right now, we are move to Windows 2008 RC2 where this Windows Authentication problem arised. I have Digest Authentication and Windows Authentication enabled. And also I have enabled Anonymous Authentication enabled to avoid the Login dialog of IIS in the end-user IE. Now I am getting HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name as Empty. I am deploying a public ASP.NET website on an IIS7 web farm.
The application runs on 3 web servers and is behind a firewall.
We want to create a single page on the website that is accessible only to internal users. It is primarily used for diagnostics, trigger cache expiry, etc.

What is the best way to control access to this page? We need to:
Prevent all external (public) users from accessing the URL. Permit specific internal users to access the page, only from certain IPs or networks.
Should this access control be done at the (a) network level, (b) application level, etc.?

I need to restrict access to my website by physical PC. When a user signs up I want to be able to restrict access to one machine for that account so it cannot be shared round, if, for example, somebody else in the same office wanted to access the system on their PC they would need a seperate sign in.
I have done some investigation and I "think" the only way is installing an ActiveX component (which isn't an issue that is restricts to IE only) and then read the users MAC address. Am I trying to over complicate things or is that the only way? I realise that MACS can be spoofed but this is not much of an issue.

I am developing one intranet website. Being an intranet application, one of the requirement is to have a single sign on feature.
It means that the windows PC username (i.e the "ctrl + alt + delete" username) is going to be the username for the system.
How do i fetch that username?
I tried the following two ways which are working in debug mode but not on live site.
System.Security.Principal.IPrincipal user = System.Web.HttpContext.Current.User;
Response.Write(user.Identity.Name);
&
Response.Write(Request.ServerVariables["AUTH_USER"].ToString());
Both the above method works when i run the page from visual studio.
However when i run the page from IIS or any other server, it gives me a blank value

I am able to get a token with Windows Live Delegate Authentication samples provided by Microsoft.
Now I want to access emails (New, Read, Unread etc) from live account. How can I achieve it with the help of Windows Live Delegate Authentication? Are there any examples for the same?
The Samples given by Microsoft are not related to emails.

This could be very straight forward for some of you, but I got caught up. I am doing very simple test - browsing from IIS Manager to see the default page or "under Construction", however I am being challenged to provide my login credential . When I provide my login credential, I am able to see the default page. I wanted to see the default page without providing my credential since Enable anoymous access + basic authentication I am simply wanted to see the default page asit is working on other servers except this one. I have included screen print to make sure may question is clear.

I want to know if this kind of authentication is possible.
We have an Active Directory account and that account we are using to log in to windows. I have a simple system that needs authentication using the IIS log in box (i dont know what do you call this but what I know is it only comes out when Anonymous user is unchecked in the IIS configuration.) Now, I want this box to appear before my page and the user will be authenticated and be compare to the user who logged in to the windows. If the user who have been authenticated is the same as the user who logged in to the windwos then we will let him in if not he must be denied in accessing the page.
The first problem I have in my mind is how to code it in asp.net to make an authentication when he will try to access my page.
Second is, let us say we have succeeded to show the authentication box, how can I get the username from the log in box and compare it to the user who logged on in windows. Of course we can get the user id of the logged in user from the windows using User.Identity.Name but how about the username from the log in box.
Note: I will not use log in forms even using https. Just the log in provided by the IIS according to the configuration.
