Sep 29, 2010I have created custom a MembershipProvider, SessionIDManager, and SessionStateStore since I need to use custom legacy sessions and logins.. When the Application is ran, it runs the GetSessionID in the SessionIDManager(which is correct) The problem then is if there is no session meaning the GetSessionID method returns null, it tries to create a new session using CreateSessionID.. I want it to redirect to the login application(another application). We only create and store session information for logged in users and the "session id numbers" come from a file that is pre-populated with "session id numbers"(I didnt design this and its out of my control).. So its not feasable to give everyone who visits the site one of the "session id" numbers. I also need for users with an "invalid" session(when checked through Validate()) to be redirected to the login page.

So I get redirected and if I try to login again it seems like it tries to redirect me to login page over and over, until I click some page in menu and login and it does works. so, doesn't the login control always redirect to same DestinationPageUrl? here the logout code:

In login Page i am giving a value to session and i am checking that value in all pages page_load event, if expires it will redirect to login page. Consider if that session doesn't expire, at that time if i try to enter into page inside Admin Panel directly from website for first time, it should redirect to login.aspx but it will take me to that particular page (Since Session doesn't expire).

I am solving this by enabling Session("IdUser") to take Id_User from my database if login and password are correct.
Ok, this works rather OK, but I am using the same button for login and logout, so when I login user I need manualy to reload the page before handler me.load have new values for current session, does anybody know how I can solve this isue.

I was able to connect to the aspnetdb database using the Web Site Administration Tool. The aspnetdb database is not in the App_Data directory.

I can SEE the user on the database using Server Management Studio...
I go to signon and get "Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again."
I have not customized the login control in any way. (OR the createuserwizard)
HOW can I tell where the Login tool is going to get userid and password info?

Jan 11, 2011I am using Visual Studio 2008 Express and created a login page using the ASP.net web site Adminstration tool security to generate users and passwords.
After login, a new page appears. I have a button to go back to the login page to allow a user to relogin. When I try loging in again as a different user or the same, I get an error saying the resource that I am looing for was not available.
I have a button on the page after login (one this one page will occur) and I am using on on click event to do the following:
FormsAuthentication.Initialize()
FormsAuthentication.SignOut()
Response.Redirect("~/Login.Aspx")
After clicking on this button, the Login page appears again. How can I release everyting to allow it to work like when I first open the application.

I have a SQL database that contains a table with user name / password / Account level in it.
What I am trying to do is to create a Login page that will use this database and table to authenticate the login.
I have spent some time looking about for an example, and the nearest that I have found is for an access Database, but I really need this to work with SQL.
