Security :: Error - The Added Or Subtracted Value Results In An Un-representable DateTime
Aug 9, 2010
I am getting an error that I never seen before and my login control was working as intened previously.
Here is the error message:
The added or subtracted value results in an un-representable DateTime.
Parameter name: value
Description:
An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: The added or subtracted value results in an un-representable DateTime.
Parameter name: value
I don't know what to make of this because I think the error is not happening in my own code and so there is no line # in the error message?

I have a Visual Studio 2008 solution that when I build, returns the following error:
Ticks must be between DateTime.MinValue.Ticks and DateTime.MaxValue.Ticks. Parameter name: ticks
There is no reference file/line/column in the error. Becoming quite frustrating as the solution builds in the end, however I cannot debug.In the solution, there is no reference/using to DateTime.MinValue.Ticks at all...
EDIT:
There are only 2 references to ticks in my solution, and neither of those are causing the issue.There are no constructor issues with DateTime either. I do not believe it is related to DateTime or ticks at all.I have found a similar reference where it turned out to be a corrupt image file in the solution, where it did not have a date-modified value. This is not affecting mine though.

I quickly setup Roles to get my site up, but now I am going back and tightening them up. I have a custom SQL Server database Provider to hold users.I want 3 Roles, Admins, Progress and then a standard User.I have all the files only Admins to use are in a folder SecureAdminI have all the files only Progress to use are in a folder SecureProgress And all the files that everybody has access to are in the Secure Folder.As soon as I added the Custom XML Site provider, my Tree View disppeared. I would assume it's because my roles are not configured correct. I can use the ASP.NET configuration tool to see my roles and users, but any combination I try in there doesn't seemto do anything. I see most examples have some code like below.
[code]...
But even when I set up some roles in the ASP.Net configuration, I never see anything like that added to my web.config? Is this because it is stored in the database? If not, what what I add to my web.config to make this work?

I am using C# Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Express 2005.
When I create a Website in VS2008 (File->New->Website...), then I add membership via the Web Site Administration Tool by creating a couple of roles and users; a database is then created physically in the App_Data folder and in the Solution Explorer, I see a plus sign after refreshing it and the database is shown.
And this is now my problem: when I create a new ASP.Net Web Application (which is what I want, File->New->Project...->ASP.Net Web Application) and then I add the membership, the physical database is created, but I do not see it in the App_Data folder of my Solution Explorer, and manually adding it by right-click->add existing item, then pointing to the existing aspnetdb.mdf file in the App_Data folder doesn't work, because it gets added with an yellow exclamation warning, and I cannot access the DB.
how to add membership to a VS2008 Asp.Net Web Application correctly, where I can add the aspnetdb.mdf to the App_Data folder in the Solution Explorer

I've inherited some code that is having a serious problem. On one page, there are several pairs of "Yes"/"No" checkboxes that act like pairs of radio buttons through the use of the ACT MutuallyExclusiveCheckBoxExtender control. They work as expected. However, when I navigate away from the page, I get a "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.InvalidOperationException: Handler was not added through the Sys.UI.DomEvent.addHandler method." error in the dynamically-generated ScriptResource.ax...c2d9970 [dynamic] file.
The specific method in the dynamically-generated code is:
var $removeHandler = Sys.UI.DomEvent.removeHandler = function Sys$UI$DomEvent$removeHandler(element, eventName, handler)
The element is set to any of the checkbox controls (I've removed them one-by-one and it happens to ALLof them) and the eventName is "Click". I gather from the code that it's trying to do a removeHandler before the addHandler for the particular element has taken place. True, I don't have any explicit addHandler lines in my code, but I don't any explicit removeHandler lines either. About all I've got in the aspx code is:
[Code] ....
The formatting of the code in this message is a bit weird, but it's basically a simple table with three columns. On each row, there's text in the first column, the checkboxes in the second column and a button in the third. I've searched high and low on the web and nearly every thread I read about his error talks about it in relationship to the use of command buttons in an ACT UpdatePanel.

I am using the AJAX Control toolkit version 4.1.40412.0 in a C# web application that is using .NET 4.0.
I am programming with Visual Studio 2010. Most of the time, the AJAX Control toolkit works properly. However,
in one instance, the AJAX Toolkit generates this error message:
Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.InvalidOperationException: Two components with the same id

The error is generated here:

/// <param name="component" type="Sys.Component"></param>
var e = Function._validateParams(arguments, [

The problem appears to be with the UpdatePanel1 object.

In my .net app, I redirect to an error page if an error occurs.
It works fine on my local IIS.
When I deploy to a web server, IIS7, it redirects to the error page, all fine, but these is text added to the error page
"The page cannot be displayed because an internal server error has occurred. "
Could this be added via IIS7? It doesnt happen locally - also IIS7.

When I added Regular Expression validator on FileUpload Control, Page.IsValid returns false & Data is not Saved. I had used Regular Expression Validator like this:
asp:RegularExpressionValidator
ID="REVFileType"
runat="server"
ErrorMessage="*Invalid File(.bmp)"
ControlToValidate="FileUpload1"
Font-Bold="True"
SetFocusOnError="True"
ValidationExpression="^(([a-zA-Z]:)|(\{2}w+)$?)(\(w[w].*))(.jpg|.JPG|.gif)$"></asp:RegularExpressionValidator>.
I had used it to check if uploaded file is of extension .jpg|.JPG|.gif

I understand how web.sitemap works in conjunction with the site's menu in order to make menu/submenu choices visible/invisible depending on the authenticated user's roles.
For example, part of my web.sitemap has the following which defines 3 reports. Then, once users log in, those with "Managers" role can see all 3 reports while those with "Users" role can only see the 1st and the 3rd report:
<siteMapNode url="~/Reports/Reports.aspx" title="Reports" description="Reports" roles="Managers,Users">
<siteMapNode url="~/Reports/LettersReport.aspx" title="Letters Report" description="Letters Report" roles="Managers,Users" />
<siteMapNode url="~/Reports/UserSummaryReport.aspx" title="User Summary Report" description="User Summary Report" roles="Managers" />
<siteMapNode url="~/Reports/LetterSummaryReport.aspx" title="Letter Summary Report" description="Letter Summary Report" roles="Managers,Users" />
</siteMapNode>
How can I retrieve these results outside of the menu process? For example, in one of my web pages, I may need to create a dropdown list which should be populated with the results of the menu process.
How can I make the dropdown list show all 3 items when a manager has logged in but only 1st and 3rd items when a user has logged in?

After running the above code the out parameter status says success. I take the userId (email address) as well as the password generated by Membership.GeneratePassword to attempt to login to my app, I get Login failed. What am I doing wrong?Note: I can use the ASP.Net configuration tool to generate a user and that user successfully logs in. I checked the table Application in the database to see if the application these users I am attemtping to register in code were being registered to a different application than the one I an running but there is only one application in that table.

I have a simple Entity query:
[code]....
I then check whether one of the result values is more recent than six months ago using an if..then like so:
If rhcexists.First.SignatureDate > Date.Today.AddMonths(-6) Then
End If
However, if there are no results returned this will return an error. Is there a way for me to tell it to act as if the date is older than six months if there is no value at all? e.g., could I in pseudo do something like:
If Exists(rhcexists.First.SignatureDate, Date.Today.AddMonths(-8)) > Date.Today.AddMonths(-6) Then
End If

I have a simple If..Then like so:
If rhcexists.First.SignatureDate > Date.Today.AddMonths(-6) Then
End If
rhcexists is a simple query to the Entity Model:
Dim rhcexists = From p In dbContracts.Signatures _
Where p.StudentID = CStr(Session("people_code_id")) _
And p.ContractType = "rhc" _
Order By p.ID Descending _
Select p
Problem is that this comparison results in an error:
LINQ to Entities does not recognize the method 'System.Object get_Item(System.String)' method, and this method cannot be translated into a store expression.
This is occurring on the If clause. Any ideas why this occurring and how I can fix it?
I am using ASP.NET 4, EF 4, and VS 2010 SP1.

I am having 3 ListBoxs(LB1,LB2,LB3).In LB1 I am binding the names of Courses through database.The code is shon below...
da1 = new SqlDataAdapter("SELECT COURSE_ID,COURSE_NAME FROM Course_Mst", con);
DataTable dt1 = new DataTable();
da1.Fill(dt1);
lstCourse.DataSource = dt1;
lstCourse.DataValueField = "COURSE_ID";
lstCourse.DataTextField = "COURSE_NAME";
lstCourse.DataBind();
Whenever I select particular course in LB1 all the content related to that course will be binded in LB2.The code is shown below.....
protected void LB1_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
da2 = new SqlDataAdapter("SELECT SPEC_ID,SPEC_NAME FROM SPEC_TRANS WHERE COURSE_ID="+Convert.ToInt32(lstCourse.SelectedValue)+"", con);
DataTable dt = new DataTable();
da2.Fill(dt);
lstSpecilization.DataSource = dt;
lstSpecilization.DataValueField = "SPEC_ID";
lstSpecilization.DataTextField = "SPEC_NAME";
lstSpecilization.DataBind();
lstSpecilization.Focus();
}
I am having a ADD button.In LB2 I can select multiple items.When I select multiple items in LB2 and click on ADD all the selected items will be binded into LB3.The code is shown below...
protected void btnAddCourseDetaisl_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)

{
ListItem li = new ListItem(lstSpecilization.Items[intLoopIndex].Text, lstSpecilization.Items[intLoopIndex].Value);
LB3.Items.Add(li);

My problem is when I select a item from LB2 and click on ADD the selecteditem is added to LB3 but if I select the same item and click on ADD the items are again added to the LB3.I want to prevent this.Pls respond me ASAP.
