I have an intranet that gets the current logged in user through active directory. When a user is locked out they get a windows prompt to enter their username and password. Is there a way for me to catch this and redirect them to a page where they are asked to enter their credentials again or tell them that their account might be locked out and to contact the help desk?
i have a username and password in my portal... i want to connect to the active directory to verify the username and password of the user? using c# .net
Currently I am storing my username and password (passwordFormat="SHA1") credientails in my web.config. I would like to figure out how to access them in an xml file that I have stored in my App_Data directory rather than the web.config file because I do not want my application restarting everytime I manually add a user (small list of 5 authorized users for the CMS section).
The asp.net files are on 2008 server running IIS.From a client workstation (i.e. part of domain) I am running the website.Below code is part of the intranet website:
String ldapPathString = LDAP://abc.au.xyz.com:123/OU=User Accounts,DC=au,DC=xyz,DC=com; if(DirectoryEntry.Exists(ldapPathString)) \at this line, I am getting the error
I have written a code to get all the names from the active directory using the below codebut i am a user in "delhi" and by changing the domain name "mumbai" and "chenni" gives me username and names of the userin corresponding locations but the problem is i have published the web pages to the server in "mumbai" but then on onlythe details of mumbai user is getting is there a way around this
I have a web page that users go to in order to reset their password in two separate domains. The basic code that does this is:
UserEntry.Invoke("ChangePassword", new object[] { txtCurrentPassword.Text, txtNewPassword.Text });
One problem I have is that I'd like to be able to display a message if a user tries to change a password to something not allowed because of password history rules. The exception raised(8007202F) when I try to change to something in the password history is the same one I've seen for other password errors(for example complexity issues). Is there an easy way to tell if there is a problem with changing a password due to password history requirements?
i have a problem with the users authentication on my site. I made <authentication mode="Windows"> in my web.config. The LoginView shows "mycomputermyusername" if i request the page. So far as well. Now i want to login with a different username. Users are stored in an Active Directory. My questions: wich setting i have to do, that user's account and password checked by Active Directory? how can i force the system to make a new login? Logout doesn't work, i always see my on account.
I am looking at displaying certain information from Active Directory within an ASP.NET web page/application to allow users of my organisation to update thCe specified fields. I have searched the internet for help and found windows forms based information, but nothing to really help me with ASP.NET, and anything that could possibly be of any assistance to me is written in C#. I have already built a logon form that hands forms based authentication against AD, and now want to display that authenticated user information.
In my application i have login Page in that i have login Control of asp.net, when user clicks on submit button i am authenticating the user and and redirecting to default url.
now what i want is using address bar i want to authenticate the same process with out opening the login page and give user name and password in the login control. Directly i want to inject the username and password in the address bar and need the same functionality what the submit button does.
i have articles on net using post methods but i am not able to do this.
I've been searching for a solution to get a list of the AD Groups for at specific AD user. I'll need the current user logged in and would like to query by the username. The problem is that all the solutions I find on the web uses System.DirectoryServices - and I can't find the dll in my .Net 4.0 webproject (I only have System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement) - so I can't use any of the examples that I've found. Is there a difference way to query the AD through 4.0 compared to 2.0? I could really use some examples, articles or just good advise to get moving - I'm kind of stuck at the moment.
I am using active directory in my ASP.NET project and whenever user register in the site,an account is created in AD. There is an Forgot Password link.Is it possible to get user password from AD.I can get the name or email, but I don't know if I can get the password.
I would like to control the menu display (show/hide menu items) in my ASP.NET 3.5 website based on the user's AD group and also control the functionality within a page using user's active directory group membership. how to do this? menu is stored in an xml file and bound to a control. all the examples I see on the web are related to forms authentication. this is an intranet website with integrated windows authentication and both authentication and authorization should be controlled using user's active directory groups.
Over the past two weeks or so, I've been getting feedback from users on my site that a popup box is interferring with their use of my search page. From the research I've done, it appears only Firefox users are having this problem. I haven't changed my site, so I can't figure out why this is happening. Has anyone successfully corrected this problem. It's costing me traffic, so I have to figure this out. My site is based on the classified starterkit.
I am using System.directory services namespace in framework 2 to query active directory. I have used fixed user account impersonisation in the web.config file, find the code:
I have disabled anonymous access in IIS. Also i have given Read & write access to the account tang09 for the website virtual directory and Microsoft.NET folder located in windows folder. But still i get prompted for the domain username and password to access the website.
I am trying to create a new user and set their password in AD LDS using asp.net vb. I'm binding to an instance of a directory entry, which is working fine. And I can add a user without a problem. The problem is that I can't seem to set the password when I add the user. Is this the right way to set the password?
Dim objADAM As DirectoryEntry = BindToInstance() Dim objUser As DirectoryEntry = objADAM.Children.Add("CN=Jimmy", "User") objUser.Properties("sn").Value = "lloyd" objUser.Properties("givenName").Value = "Jimmy Smith" objUser.Properties("userpassword").Value = "THEPASSWORD" objUser.CommitChanges()
This is the error that I get : System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryServicesCOMException (0x80072020): An operations error occurred. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80072020) at System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.CommitChanges()
I've also tried this : Dim objADAM As DirectoryEntry = BindToInstance() Dim objUser As DirectoryEntry = objADAM.Children.Add("CN=Jimmy", "User") objUser.Properties("sn").Value = "lloyd" objUser.Properties("givenName").Value = "Jimmy Smith" objUser.CommitChanges() objUser.Invoke("SetPassword", New Object() {"123456789A$#"}) objUser.CommitChanges()
Which gave me this error : System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x8000500D): The directory property cannot be found in the cache. --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] args)
I'm using the code below to authenticate a user in Active Directory, but the password is sending in clear text. How can I hash my password and then send it to Active Directory?
DirectoryEntry entry = new DirectoryEntry(path, username, pwd); try { //Bind to the native AdsObject to force authentication. object obj = entry.NativeObject; DirectorySearcher search = new DirectorySearcher(entry); search.Filter = "(SAMAccountName=" + username + ")"; search.PropertiesToLoad.Add("cn"); SearchResult result = search.FindOne(); if (null == result) { return false; } //Update the new path to the user in the directory. _path = result.Path; _filterAttribute = (string)result.Properties["cn"][0]; } catch (Exception ex) { throw new Exception("Error authenticating user. " + ex.Message); } return true;
I have a domain controller on windows 2008 server R2, The users are able to modify their password through a web page. Once it's done, the users are still able tu use the old password as well as the new one at the next logon. The old password is still active only one time after the change, after that it's no more possible to use it...
I invoke the "ChangePassword" function.
Is it a parameter to configure on the server ? Is it cached somewhere on the computer of the users ?
