View 3 RepliesI am using c#.net 3.5 in that i am creating <a> tag dynamically as
HtmlAnchor htmlanchor = new HtmlAnchor();
htmlanchor.HRef = "javascript:void(0)"; htmlanchor.Attributes.Add("onclick","document.getElementById('light').style.display='block';document.getElementById('fade').style.display='block'"); [code]....
but its not working there is some javascropt error. as object required.
I have an AJAX Reorder List control, which is working fine. I want to add an "Edit" hyperlink to the ItemTemplate (which I have done) that opens an AJAX Modal Window when it's clicked. I need to add an OnClick attribute to call a javascript function and pass the value for the ID of the object bound to the list. I have done this before with a gridview with no problem - I just need to add code like this to RowDataBound event:
If e.Row.RowType = DataControlRowType.DataRow Then
Dim HyperLink1 As HyperLink = e.Row.FindControl("HyperLink1")
HyperLink1.Attributes.Add("onclick", "ShowPopup('" & myGridControl.DataKeys(e.Row.RowIndex).Value & "')")
I've got problem with generating ajax anchors. I'm using simple
Ajax.ActionLink("test", "Test", new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId="test", HttpMethod="GET" }) and the generated markup is:
<a data-ajax="true" data-ajax-method="GET" data-ajax-mode="replace" data-ajax-update="#test" href="/Home/Test">test</a>
which, obviously lacks the onclick="Sys.Mvc.AsyncHyperlink.handleClick(...)" attribute.
In ASP.NET, you can add custom HTML tag attributes to a UserControl via
myLabel.Attributes['my-custom-attribute'] = "someValue";
// or Attributes.Add()
but how can I add an attribute that doesn't have a value? For example, (and I'm not saying that this is what I need) the W3C specification only needs the checked attribute present in a checkbox to consider it checked (instead of checked='true' or something).
<span ID="ctl-blah-blah-myLabel" my-custom-attribute>some text</span>
I'm looking into using something like this to tag specific elements on my page for some client-side behavior. I know that I can do the same with classes, but (1) classes are iffy to manipulate server-side, and (2) I kind of don't want to pollute my class declarations just for tagging (that may be weird for some, I know).
I'm trying to add multiple statements to a onclick attribute of a Gridview row:[Code]. Something must be wrong with the way I concat the string 'script' with the statement that makes the row selectable. when the session var is null, then the Page.ClientScript statement goes through and the row will be selectable, but when the session var is NOT null and as a result, the whole statement contains the 'confirm' part, the the confirmation dialog pops up but nothing else happenes upon confirming. What's wrong with the "script += Page.ClientScript.GetPostBackEv..." part?
View 4 RepliesI am working in a CMS where we use tokens ( which is turned into a user control. Is there a way to add the user control into an attribute value for our template style? example :
<div class="<$tokenName/$>" />
this currently outputs an encoded user control, which is then not parsed by IIS.
I've been looking at google for the past few hours, trying to find an issue to a apparently simple problem. I have a UserControl named RolloverLink that basically contains a asp:LinkButton and a <img /> . I tried setting the OnClick handler like this:
[code]....
I put a breakpoint in the propagate method, but it doesnt stop there. The page does post back (it flashes), but the event doesn't get called.
Here's how my code behind looks like:
[code]....
Supposing I have a user control like this <MyTag:MyWidget runat="server" /> I am wondering if I can do something like <MyTag:MyWidget runat="server" MemberHeight="400" PublicHeight="200" /> So that in MyWidget.ascx I can have <div height="<%=IsLoggedIn ? MemberHeight : PublicHeight%>"> or something like that...? Because I want the height to vary in each page that is using this widget.
View 2 RepliesI have an aspx page with two buttons, one of the buttons has an OnClick attribute to a function that should be run when clicked. When the other button is clicked there is an if statement checking if the page is a postback, if it is then I run some statements that need to be run when that button is clicked. That postback button works fine. However, the other button, when it's clicked the function it's supposed to call never executes, and the statements inside if (Page.IsPostBack) get executed instead. What can I do to fix this? Is there a way to make the button that calls a function not do a Post back?

I'm getting this error on the above markup: Message 1 Validation (ASP.Net): Attribute 'onchange' is not a valid attribute of element 'TextBox'.
I have a problem with my web site 1stSigBdeAssn.org. I have made no changes to the site but I now get the following error message:
Parser Error Message:

I created a simple Master Page in Visual Studio 2008:
<%@
Master
Language="VB"
CodeFile="MasterPage.master.vb"
Inherits="MasterPage" %>
<!DOCTYPE
html
PUBLIC
"-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
and got green underlined 'Master' with two warning messages: 1.Validation (ASP.NET): This attribute name must be followed byan equal (=) sign and a value. If the value is in quotation marks, the quotation marks must match. 2. Validation (ASP.NET): Attribute 'Master' is not a valid attribute of element 'Control'.How I can get rid of the messages?
How do I setup a default setting so that if I do not set an OnClick (i.e the asp.net OnClick attribute) explicitly for an asp:LinkButton tag, it will not render an onclick(html attribute for javascript) attribute client side? By default, asp.net adds an onclick='doPostBack....' for the LinkButton.
Case for use:
There is a LinkButton tag on the page. For this page, if the user has one friend, I only want to run client side code if the button is clicked and would not for any reason want to make a post back. If the user has more than one friend I would want a click to trigger a postback.
Using any asp.net Ajaxtoolkit
Dynamically switching the control type (i.e. if friends == 1 use a asp:Hyperlink)
-I want to avoid this because it is not scalable. There might be many cases where I want an asp:Link tag to do a postback or to not do a postback depending on the user context or user attributes Using OnClientClick (I am using jQuery would like to avoid this)
I have a tag:
<asp:ListItem
CssClass="LabelCSS">Executive</asp:ListItem>
and I am getting the error message
Validation(ASP .Net):Attribute CssClass is not a valid attribute of element ListItem.
What attribute would I use for Css with ListItem?
i'm trying to host an .net framework4.0 application in IIS7. i got an error while clicking on the manage module in modules .like ("Unrecognized attribute 'targetFramework'. Note that attribute names are case-sensitive. ") .I changed my application poll to .net4.0.I am able to browse my application
</system.serviceModel>
</configuration>
I installed Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate Trial and converted existing asp.net 2.0 web application and I am getting this error: znrecognized attribute 'targetFramework'. Note that attribute names are case-sensitive. It's coming from this section in the web.config which was auto-generated by VS2010 when I converted the project:

I am developing asp.net mobile application. I am using LINQ to XML to query XML file. I am using the following query to retrieve the name & value of the query dynamically as follows
var TotalManifolds = from MF in FieldRoot.Element("FIELD-DEFINITION").Element("MANIFOLDS").Elements("MANIFOLD")
join SLT in FieldRoot.Element("FIELD-DEFINITION").Element("SLOTS").Elements("SLOT")
on (string)MF.Attribute("MID") equals (string)SLT.Attribute("PARENT")
select new
{
SlotName = (string)SLT.Attribute("NAME").Value,
SlotValue = (string)SLT.Attribute("NAME").Value
};
In the following statement of above query I want to retrive the name of the attribure dynamically without explicitly specifying the name of the attribute SlotName = (string)SLT.Attribute("NAME").Value Here I am explicitly specifying the name. I want to code which can dynamically retrieve the name of the attribute. I am new to Linq to xml. how this can be done programatically? or can you provide me the link through which I can resolve the above issue ?
I've a ASP.Net page (Default.aspx) which will load UserControl (ucontrol.ascx) dynamically into an UpdatePanel. By using UpdatePanel, we believe we're able to prevent the entire page to be posted-back.
My problem is, within the UserControl, we have some form controls, such as inputs and buttons; after the UserControl is loaded, clicking on any button inside the UserControl will cause the UpdatePanel to be blanked. During the investigation, I found that, breakpoints within the Button1_Click() in the code-behind for the UserControl is never reached. Please reference to the code below, this references to [REFERENCE]1.
[code]....
This is page load
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (!IsPostBack)
{ [code]...
But in my ascx.cs when IButton1_Click is trigered My name is null
private string _sname;
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{ [code]...
I have a page with an UpdatePanel with a UserControl in it. That UserControl contains a GridView with a nested UserControl that seems to disappear when the parent UserControl is rebound. I cannot for the life of me figure out why the child UserControl disappears. The code works beautifully on the first load, but any partial postback causes the "Pick" UserControl to disappear.

im creating site with usercontrols. I have repeater, inside it is another repeater with usercontrol. My problem is passing BindedValue to usercontrol.Bindings works fine and binds the value i need but it cannot pass the value to usercontrol. When i type it manually it works, when i bind it, it passes null (!).I've tried get,set, functions (ondatabound, onload, oninit), accessing control from code with no luck. Ive read and tried to do all the google solutions but with no luck. (even with creating usercontrol inheritance)
View 5 RepliesThere are 2 UserControls UC1 and UC2, and there is one more class C. I want to share the same instance of c in both UserControls. I know that this can be possible with properties in both UC's and by registering UC2 in UC1 or vice versa. But I want the solution to be loosely coupled. Any best possible way without touching the Actual Page (which hosts UC's)? So i need some best possible way between UCs transfering C.
View 5 RepliesI have MainLayout.master that has UC_Menu.ascx on it.
I have a page named Customer.aspx that uses MainLayout.master. Customer.aspx also contains a UserControl named UC_Details.ascx.
How can I have UC_Menu.ascx call a function that is in UC_Details.ascx with this scenario?
I've seen a few similar examples, but none that match this type of layout.
I have a UserControl, which contains another UserControl with Button. I want to add an event to that button in first UserControl (parent). I tried to do:
void Page_Init()
{
var btn = ChildControl.FindControl("SearchButton") as Button;
btn.Click += new EventHandler(this.SearchButton_Click);
}
but btn is null. How can I do that ?
