State Management :: Forcing A User To LogOut On Closing The Browser?
Jan 19, 2011
writing code for Session_Start() and Session_End() such that whenever a user closes the browser without logging out he is automatically forcely logged out......And too when a user logs out normally he is re-directed to the LogOn page....
As we know that closing a browser will delete cookie if the cookie does not set an expired date. However, I want to set an expired date to all of my cookies and also delete them when browser closed.
I have been spending a better part of a week trying to track down why I am not able to clear all session variables in a web app (vs 2010, vb.net). What I have tracked it down to is that when I remove or abandon sessions that my html pages or codebehind access, it works, but for some reason in any of my class files where I use "Public Shared strConnection as String = HttpContext.Current.Session("strConnection").ToString" to access a session variable, it finds the old one and not the current one. I have to wait for it to time out, go in again, and it will find the new one.
I do not use Linq, and there is only one place in the whole web app that I place the connection string in a variable whcih is when a person logs in. It points them to the correct database. The sqlconnection is set for all of my listviews in Page_Init to make sure that they aren't using any session variable that they create on their own. Interestingly enough that if I use debug to go in each time, exit debug, enter debug again trying to access a different database, it works correct each time. I assume that debug is correctly killing the session variable for the classes for me.
We use windows authentication. User opens our website in tab1 and does some action but with out clicking on save he opens a new tab tab2 and opens the same website again. Now, if the user session in tab1 is active i need to warn users that the he is already logged on to application in some other browser and go to some log out page. But if the user session in tab1 is timed out then he must be able to continue with the website in tab2 as usual, but if he tries to do anything in tab1 he should go to session expired page. I tried implementing it in following way.
I have a hidden field in each page which will be set to unique Id using GUID.NewID(). when user requests for a page the following code is executed.
it is having the grid with bulk of data. So i decided to move to Cache to strore the dataset. So that it avoids in gettin the data from DB for each time the page is loading. Suppose my idea isnot good please suggest me the best way to acheive this.My question is if i suppose store the data into the cache, how can i dispose or clear the cache from the memmory for each time i close my current page or application. I dont want the cache in memmory for long time, i want only upto the time the application is running.
I have a one data entry Application ,I want Auto Logout If data entry Operation rest For Five minute then !application is auto logout !will it only logout if nothing is done at screen ? At the computer ? Mouse not moved ? What is the exact conditions ?I just want like screen Saver if We don't work continuesly 5 min then screen Saver iS Running !instead of screen saver I want Auto logout in my application
i want to automatically get logged out after 5minutes......with the condition ....if user is idle for 5minutes......suppose user goes out and comes back in 3minutes and scrolls his mouse the page should logout after 2 more minutes....
know much about session management. I used only sessions variables in SignupForm, Forget Password. I dnt know how to code or login and logout via session. What is inproc and outproc.
If at any time i m login in that time if i want to logout from this page then i'll used response.redirect() but that time how i'll expire the session means no used after logout form a page without login...
I am very new to asp.net. I developed one application. In that I have two pages. First page contains Application.Get() in page load event, here I read this Application variable, initially it returns NULL. If it is NULL, I make some buttons invisible. Then I jump to second page, in that page contains Application.Set(). Again I jump from second page to first page, this time Application.Get() is not NULL, I make some buttons visible. This is ok, if I execute the program in .net software.
But, when I publish this same program to web server like IIS, it is not working properly. After publishing very first time the first page returns NULL after that it doesnt return NULL even I closed the browser. I dont know why. In program, I used 2.0 framework. IIS also has 2.0 framework. Please clear this issue.
I'm not sure if this is an error or is the right work mode for sql sessions.
I'm working now with Windows 2008 R2 Web Ed. and SQL Server 2008 Web Ed.
When I close my browse and open again a new browser window I need to login again in asp.net application and a new session is created in the sessions table in sql server.
It's this normal? I remember that with Windows 2003 and SQL 2005 this doesn't happend. When I closed my browser and open inmediately a new browser window my session was retained and I could continue working without relogin.
I have two asp page first is login page. I enter username and password then after submit click goes second page their is a logout option. then thr URL of second page is copy and paste in another browser then it will second page it is not logout,I want to after paste URL it goes Login page.
