I guess I might be missing something easy (or not) here. I have a class in App_Code which do some validations over Session and Request.Url, till here it's working fine. But then I need to get the actual page title. I know it's simple to get it in the page's code behind, but could I get it in a separate class like it is on my scenario?

I want to know , how good / bad is it to save configuration values in a static properties?I am creating an application which reads configuration from an XML file and a DataContext file, instead of sending the CustomConfig class into the configuration.xml each time I tought about using an ReadXml() method on application_start at the global.ascx
the ReadXml() method would save the data in static properties of CustomConfig and whereever I would want to read that particler data I would ask CustomConfig.PROERTY_NAME
My question is ? how smart it is ? how long does IIS would save the data in a static member? (if as long as the application exists then I'm ok as long as I add the ReadXml() in the application_start)

I have a PlannerShiftView user control in the root folder of my ASP.NET web site. In my App_Code folder, I have a ShiftViewTemplate class that needs to instantiate a PlannerShiftView (for a TemplateField in a GridView). The problem is, the following code doesn't compile because the PlannerShiftView type is not available in what I deem to be the App_Code 'phantom namespace'.
Please can somebody explain to be what is happening here, as well as what to do. I know I can just move the ShiftViewTemplate out of App_Code, going against convention and without explantion, but that is something of a hollow victory.

I have a single project. and I have two folder in it. In the 1st folder I have a class named Class1 and in the 2nd folder I have a class named Class2. Can anyone tell me how I can access members of Class1 in Class2. I have tried by adding namespace in Class1 and Using that namespace in Class2. But it is giving error. It is easy to access classes or their members from App_Code folder. I don't want to put my classes in app_code folder.

Now here is the weird thing. First i am running it locally on the built in vs2008 web server.I load my control in fine, do a postback from a linkbutton, locally on my machine it all works fine, no issue.However when it goes onto my host, it falls over with the message:
Failed to load viewstate. The control tree into which viewstate is being loaded must match the control tree that was used to save viewstate during the previous request.Now i also load controls dynamically and use postbacks and things in the admin area of the site...and that works fine, however my front end just keeps failing? See the code behing below:

Or any class that's not X.aspx.vb. I've imported the Globalization, Threading, Threading.Thread, and UI.Page namespaces. But it won't come up in Intellisense and it gives error lines in my code. Is there a way to access use the GetLocalResource("Y") method in other classes?

I have been getting this error a lot lately with some of my users, and I had a couple of concerns with view state and I have read so many articles but I am still lost..
1. I use masterpage on all the pages and I need viewstate for some of the pages but..
There is a page where a user will fill out the information and then submit this data to a cgi server, and it is where I get most of the Client Disconnected errors, what would happen if I disable viewstate when they click on that button?
Now when a user browses from one page to another, does the view state from the previous page get deleted? If not how would I delete it?
Does the master page have its own viewstate? Would I be able to make sure none of items on my master page are using the viewstate?

I have created a simple ASP.NET Website in Visual Studio 2008. I have a static C# class (lets call it someClass) contained in a separate file in the App_Code folder. I call a method from that class in my page's code behind like so:
someVar = someClass.someMethod(someParam);
This compiles correctly in VS 2008 but when I move it over to my IIS server, I get the following error (CS0103): Description: An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific error details and modify your source code appropriately. Compiler Error Message: CS0103: The name 'someClass' does not exist in the current context I have created a virtual directory for this website enabling 'Read', 'Run scripts (such ASP)', and 'Execute (such as ISAPI applications or CGI)'. I am not currently utilizing namespaces (as I thought I would not need to and I'm not sure how to use them properly). What am I doing wrong?

1. SetSession.aspx page sets value for a session variable and redirects to default.aspx page using Response.redirect() code.
2. Default.aspx page tries to create an object of class in app_codecommon.cs file.
3. In app_codeCommon.cs file, I am trying to access the session variable set in step1 using HttpContext.Current.Session object.
but step 3 gives error that object reference not set to an instance. as HttpContext.Current.Session is null.
I surf abt it on net, and seems to be problem with asp.net framework.

External.dll
IMyClass NewCreated = (IMyClass)Activator.CreateInstance(Namespace.MyClass).UnWrap();
Asp.Net WebSite
App_Code
Namespace.MyClass.cs
Bin
External.dll
Is that even posible? I have tried, a lot of posible combinations, like:
Assembly.GetCallingAssembly().CreateInstance("Namespace.MyClass")
Activator.CreateInstance(AppDomain.CurrentDomain,"Namespace","Namespace.MyClass")
Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().CreateInstance("Namespace.MyClass")

I start with a blank ASP.NET page where I disable ViewState for the whole page with EnableViewState=False and even ViewStateMode=Disabled.keep adding various controls to the page -- Label, Table, Calendar, TextBox, DropDownList.Everything looks good, i.e. my __VIEWSTATE tag fluctuates between 24 and 28 characters.As soon as I add a single RadioButton (or CheckBox), the __VIEWSTATE shoots up to 130 characters. And it keeps growing by over 100 characters every time I add another RadioButton.

I am creating a simple string of values that get added to a label after a post back. I am setting the values thorugh ViewState. However, my appended values do not get updated until AFTER the 2nd postback. Example:
On Page_Load the label displays a "0";
If I enter a "1" in the text box and click the button the label still displays a "0";
If I click the button again (the 2nd postback) then my label correctly displays "0,1"; This works for whatever value I enter after. i.e. "0,1,35,hello world", etc.
What I am I missing? Code Below.
.ascx - I left out inherits and codebehind

With bind dropdownbox containing name of item ,then textboxs containing mrp, value, stock avail of that item. Here is the link for demo. [URL].
