Styling Menu Control Using Vertical Line As Separator Between Items
Oct 21, 2011
I have seen many web sites using a vertical line as separator, between menu items. How can I create a menu with that line..?Is there any link about styling menu control ?
I'm in the process of styling an asp.net menu in .NET 4 and I'm trying to understand the meaning of the StaticSelectedStyle-CssClass and StaticHoverStyle-CssClass parameters. My understanding is that the styles defined with these parameters are applied as CSS classes to the relevant elements, whenever needed. So I created my menu as follows:
[Code]....
It works for StaticMenuStyle-CssClass and StaticMenuStyle-CssClass (the classes are applied to the relevant elements), but StaticSelectedStyle-CssClass and StaticHoverStyle-CssClass are not applied, regardless of the selected or hover status of an element. Here is the generated HTML:
[Code]....
So as you can see, StaticMenuStyle and StaticMenuItemStyle are applied, but not StaticSelectedStyle-CssClass or StaticHoverStyle-CssClass. Not sure why. I know I can use selected but isn't the expected behavior that StaticSelectedStyle-CssClass be applied??? By using selected I make assumptions as to what .NET does behind the scenes and that's not right.
At first glance this looks like exactly what I wanted. However, if I open up WebResource.axd there is a whole bunch of javascript code related to the menu. Part of this code is applying it's own inline styles to the list. Using FireBug I can view the HTML markup after the javascript has executed and it looks something like this:
[code]....
These inline styles ultimately affect the layout of my page. I have no need for any of the scripts in WebResource.axd. How can I prevent this script from being rendered in the final markup of the page?
I am experiencing a weird issue with my menu control on a website I just launched. Basically it seems like the top and bottom padding for the control is like 400 pixels on certain pages. This does not happen on IE6, IE8, Firefox 3.6, or chrome. Only IE7 (also IE8 compatibility mode). The other weird thing is that it happens 90% of the time and not 100%, so I can't get full consistency. Here is an image of what it should look like versus what the issue is. [URL] bad menu What I have done so far is remove skiplinktext and also tried to remove the 4px padding I had, neither helped.

I'm trying to style an asp:Menu, so that when I hover over a child menu, all the parent menu's will have the background mouse over selected colour. (Take a look at the win xp start menu for example, with default theme blue, all parent menu's will be highlighted as blue if a child is selected) At first I thought this was something simple, but after intense researching (google), I am beginning to wonder...
I am trying to style the menu control to allow the menu items to float to the right of the container, however I am unable to do so as whenever I am styling the a, ul or li it keeps getting overidded by asp.net and floats everything left.
What I want is to show menu items Administrator or show user menu items.Show menu items using login...How I can do it with roleĀ provider, control menu and siteMap in masterpage?
I need a help in creating a vertical oriented Menu control with dynamic url's set in there Navigate Url property. Also i need to set the menu items as enable/disable in two different modes say edit/new.
My datalist will not have any borders. The only line that will be displayed in the datalist is a solid horizontal line after each row.
I tried setting the border of the datalist to "0px none Red" and then set the GridLines to "Horizontal", but this only works in Firefox. IE8 draws the line in barely visible grayish color, an Chrome ignores the border attributes altogether and draws all the horizontal lines.
When I add a static bottom separator image to my menu control, it is displayed in design mode. However, it does not show on the web page when testing. It does not render and displays the white box with red x. My other images are showing fine. I am using Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010 Express and IE for my browser. Here is my code.
I want to draw the vertical line in designing. For example Table 1 Keep your job-search confidential Control your privacy Reach to over 35000 recruiters Get Job Alerts in your inbox Apply to jobs from your Mobile. I want to draw vertical line both side about table1
I have a graph created with MS Chart like the following picture. As you can see the vertical lines are messed up with value of the top of each bar. Here's the mark-up for the graph:
Is there a way to force the asp:Menu control to spit out ul and li instead of tables, so that I can use my existing css styles to style them correctly or is that a lost cause?
I am using that standard asp.net menu system and I have it linking to an SQL view via XML. All that stuff works fine but when I try to add a separator image to the menu it adds the image below the text. It looks like it is wrapping the image down to the next line.
i have an Grdiview within that two table is there, one is for header another is for body section, now the horizontal line is coming on the gridview but vertical line is not coming, below is my code
I'm trying to add a text-only item to a databound menu control. So far all I'm capable of doing is adding more links, but no text. My goal is to have a leading item be part of the menu but not a link. I want it to be displayed as text...
I've tried adding items to the menu.items collection, but this adds links.
I've tried adding items to the menu.controls collection, but this doesn't get picked up at all, just ignored.
I've one of webform (in design side) has so many textboxes incorborate from one another so , i want to draw line vertically and horizontally acoross the page to point the textboxes
I have for example a ASP Menu control having a static (File) and dynamic (Open, New) menu such as :
[code]....
I am able to see this menu under VS 2008 under my development PC. But when I deploy the app to a IIS server, and run the app, the whole app appeared the same. Only the Menu has "File" for selection but the submenu items (Open and New) did not appear when the mouse cursor was moved over "File". Only the Outline of the dropdown box of the submenu appeared.
