I have a dynamic website which shows articles. I use query strings to show each article and the url currently looks like this:- [URL] This works fine but is no good for SEO. I want to hide the categorycode and articlecode and replace it with the article title. Code [URL] This is another area I am not good at; does anyone know how I can do this.
View 11 RepliesI am working on a project that requires that the programmers can add asp:hyperlinks to the pages, but I want to replace those with a custom spun asp:hyperlink which checks before render if the end user has a role or not.
So basically I need a way to tell the asp application that where it renders asp:hyperlink to actually render mycontrols:customhyperlink. Is there a way to make it so that the asp:hyperlink goes to my control library instead of System.Web.UI?
I work with Visual studio 2005 and Sql server data base. I extract 1 million rows from a database and I put the rows in a Sql table. With a simple direct extraction, in a few minutes I complete the operation:

But, if I must select and modify some fields between extraction and introduction, it takes a lot of time!
I work in this way. I extract rows from Dbase, Table1, and I put all into a Collection using dataReader:

This way to work goes right but it is necessary a lot of time for completing the operation.
I would like to hide a column in matrix using SSRS 2005 but when i use visibility : hidden then it shows white space and if i reduce a width to 0in; but it accepts by default 0.035in something.
i really would like to hide a complete column without any whitespace and all.
I am using update panel for particular thing. But I want to hide one tab which is not in content template.
Is there any way? if not then I need to revamp existing code.
I'm creating some url rewriting for asp.net. Now I am tobbing if I should include the id in url or just the title. Do you guys know if it's a significant performance hit to lookup an item by title instead of id?

The dropdownlist contains simple strings (person titles). When you select a title, that title should be returned to my model. Controller code:

I'm building a website with a small content management system that allows the user to create articles that will be published to the site. I want the home page to display the 10 most recently submitted articles.What I don't want however, is for the home page to be 6 miles long. I would like to cut the article off after the first paragraph, add ellipses, and have a "continue reading" link that will allow them to view the full article. Does anyone have a link or information on how to accomplish this?

View 1 RepliesI'm constructing a new cms with the option to create reviews and articles (blog items). Now if the user wants to write a review he/ she will want to add a lot of images in the text. Now my question to you is , what would be the best option to include those images (with keeping in mind that a CDN can be used later). I was thinking of the following methods:
Break an article in multiple blocks, each block can then include a picture and text. Just add the picture in the text via WYSIWYG editor (easiest option but not so versatile) Upload images separately and include them via tags in article text. Like Title{img_1}Content

How can i change this... to work on DevServer, Clients .. so..on If it is in local it works fine that to for d:\.... if i want to browse from other drives how should i do that. i need to browse all folders in all drives... what should i change in this statement.

View 3 RepliesI am having issues implementing SqlSiteMapProvider using the Wicked Code article. I am using VB.NET and SQL Server 2008 - and the OnSiteMapChanged event is not firing (the SqlDepdencyCache just seems to simply be not working at all). The article states "You also need to run the ASP.NET worker process with dbo privileges for SQL Server 2005 cache dependencies to work automatically.)" I don't understand what this means. I know what the ASPNET user account is and that it runs aspnet_wp.exe which is basically the ASP.NET run time as I understand it. I know what DBO privs are on SQL. But my SQL and web servers are on different machines, and ASPNET is not a domain account. And it seems crazy to make it one to try to simply get the SqlDepdencyCache to work, and I have trouble believing everyone is doing this?Anyone have any clue what I'm missing here?
