VS 2008 Making A DetailsView Display The Selected Row From A GridView?
Dec 30, 2009
I need to make a DetailsView display a user-selected row from an already existing GridView. Additionally, I must also set up this web-app to not only add rows via input in textboxes, but also update or delete rows of data, as selected from the GridView... how can I configure my web-app and/or SQL Database to do all of this?
I am creating a GridView/DetailsView page. I have a grid that displays a bunch of rows, when a row is selected it uses a DetailsView to allow for Insert/Update.
My question is what is the best way to link these? I do not want to reach out to the web service again, all the data i need is in the selected grid view row. I basically have 2 separate data sources that share the same "DataObjectTypeName", the first data source retrieves the data, and the other to do the CRUD.
What is the best way to transfer the Selected Grid View row to the Details View? Am I going to have to manualy handle the Insert/Update events and call the data source myself?
Is there no way to link these two so they use the same data source ?
I have a ReportViewer and GridView1 on my form I want my ReportView1 Display Gridview1 Selected Recored. I Click "Select" On Gridview1 then My ReportView1 Show The selected Report. I am using Visual web developer 2008 and vbcode
I have an issue that I've spent quite a bit of time trying to solve. I have a Detailsview and a Gridview that I have linked using the ID field, It has now been decided that they want to have individual pages for each Unit. I have this working for the most part, however the detailsview is not being displayed until I hit select the row in the gridview.
How do I get this to automatically display on page load?
I want a GridView that when a row is selected, the selected row expands and below the selected row a panel of additional information is shown, which would also include another small GridView. The idea is this would all be in-line. So if the user selected row 4, then the additional information would appear below row 4 and then after the additional information the parent GridView would continue with row 5.
Ultimately I would want to do a multi-select type of set up, but first I need to figure out if this is even possible. Also, the solution must be 508 CompliantThe one solution I considered was using only one "column". Then I would put all my fields in the ItemTemplate, and my detail panel content in the EditItemTemplate and instead of selecting the row, set it to edit mode. The problem with this solution is I lose the functionality of multiple columns if I throw everything in one huge ItemTemplate.
I have a gridview that lists different types of blogs. If the user selects the 'Daily' row I would like to have some sort of popup with another gridview that displays the date and topic (i have those as columns in my db and only set if they are daily).
How can I accomplish this without displaying another page. I am trying to use the modalpopupextender but it's not working on the first gridview as I dont know how to tell it to only display if its 'daily'.
My textbox had a button that trigger a popup (using Ajax, ModalPopUp Extender), a gridview is inside the popup. My question is, when the gridview's row had been selected, how do i enable my textbox to display the selected row data?gridview1 , textbox1, textbox2, textbox3. scenario : each row have three cell; id, name, telwhen a row had been selected, textbox 1 should display id,textbox 2 should display name, textbox 3 should display tel
I am working on an existing asp.net project and it has some sections created as controls. For example, there is one called PersonControl.ascx that displays the person's information. I can view the code and make changes. But when I run it those changes do not show.
I have a simple Gridview control on .aspx page. All I am doing is selecting 3 or 4 fields from oracle database. When I have to_char() function it says "portfolio_rundate" is a not a valid field in the datasource. Wherease the same SQL perfectly works fine in oracle.
I am using a Gridview/DetailsView with DetailsView having 2 dropdownlists in Edit Mode. If i set the query for ItemName ddl not to use GroupId as Where parameter it works fine but i get all the Items in db. Instead i want that when Mode changes to edit based on GroupId Items should be selected.
If I try this i am getting error
'ItemName' has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items. Parameter name: value
My Code :
<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" CellPadding="4" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1" EmptyDataText="No Temp Data Found, Please Go To R&D Ledger" ForeColor="#333333" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataKeyNames="Id,GroupId,GroupName,ItemId,ItemName,ESL,SDId,SDName,Dated" AutoGenerateSelectButton="True">
But I´m trying to do that programmatically, not with the sqldatasource. So I wrote the method that binds data to Detailsview and I call it in the page_load. The problem is that I have to click two times on the select button to view the detailsview. The first time I click on the select button nothing happens.
Well I have recently been working with profiles and its been going well. When I load my website within Visual Studio it created an MDB within app_data called aspnetdb.mdb and from then on it uses this database to store data that my users have chosen or entered. When I upload the website it fails because it can't find or create the database above. (even if I upload the mdb that was created on my local machine) I have tried to resolve this issue by changing my web.config file as below
I also made an SQL database on the server called totallyu_profiles and set up a user for it. I can connect to that database by using ODBC on my local machine. I can't however upload my current database created by Visual studio to the totallyu_profiles database so it is empty, I was wondering if it will fill the tables itself when the connection string is okay. One other thing to note is that my site errors very quickly with the above connection string and if I don't include the string and use the default then it takes ages. Can I somehow just point the connection string to my database within App_Data?
I have a gridview and a detailsview. When the user clicks on the select link of the gridview, the details of that row are shown in the detailsview. Also a user can create a new record by clicking the NewEvent button:
Protected Sub NewEvent_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles NewEvent.Click lblStatus.Text = "" dvEventDetail.ChangeMode(DetailsViewMode.Insert) End Sub [code]...
i am making a quiz system in asp.net using C# vs 2008.having one equestion per page, with previous and back button.each question have four options with only one correct answer. The options are in a radio button list.I have a database which has two columns as QuestionID,CorrectAnswer.
For viewing previous answer the user can click on previous button,so that he can see his previous marked answer and if feel he had marked the wrong option then he can mark the other one.
Some Problems:-when clicking the previous button the option which was marked in radio button list got unchecked!!So,the user is unable to know which he/she had marked before.I want that the option remains checked so that the user knows what he/she had marked previously. After completing the quiz how can the answers selected by the user be compared with the CorrectAnswer stored in database and can be displayed in the result page having four columns as QuestionID,CorrectAnswer,UserAnswer,Right/Wrong in a grid view. Though i am able to display the QuestionID and the CorrectAnswer in a grid view in the result page.
i created a chat application and i have a div that i want to use to display the logged in users. i used the following code to pull the usernames from my database table but whenever i test multiple users it displays one user name only.
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Session.Add("UserID", User.Identity.Name) Me.LoggedInUsers() End Sub Private Sub LoggedInUsers() Dim str As String Dim myConnection As New SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("ConnectionString").ConnectionString) str = "SELECT [username] FROM [Message]" Dim cmd As New SqlCommand(str, myConnection) myConnection.Open() LitUsers.Text = CType(cmd.ExecuteScalar(), String) myConnection.Close() End Sub
I want the same solution like Making A Cool Login System With PHP, MySQL & jQuery But in ASP.Net 3.5, SQL Server 2008 and jquery.
I want this solution for my ASp.Net(C#) site in which I'm using ASP.Net's default membership module and now I want to put its loginview and registaration system in a jquery modal windows and validate the user in the system and create the new user in the sytem by entering user credentials in the loginviews and registaration fields inside the modal windows and then by clicking on the button palced in the modal windows as well.
