VS 2008 Putting Date Slashes In Textbox For Input?
Mar 3, 2010
I'm using a textbox in my asp.net project with a date extender to allow someone to enter a date. If they want to type in a date rather than select from the calendar, how can i include the slashes in the textbox for the person to enter the date as shown? such as __/__/____

VS2008 c#, asp.net 3.5, ms sql 2008How do I validate user input in TextBox inside a FormView [Insert Mode] with MS SQL 2008 Database?* FormView #fvInsertProjectInfo* TextBox #txtProjectNameCurrently, user could insert a new project using the FormView, but will only be found out that the project is already existed when pressing the INSERT button. To make it more user friendly, I would like to check that the database does not contain a record of the project the user trying to insert (by comparing value in txtProjectName with the Projects table in the database)

i would like to compare the current date with the date entered by user..however, i'm encountering errors so far..
i tried something like this:
<asp:TextBox id="txtDate1" runat="server" />
<asp:CompareValidator runat="server" ErrorMessage="The date must be greater than today"
ControlToValidate="txtDate1" type="date"
ValuetoCompare="DateTime.Today.ToShortDateString()" />
and i got an error stating that the value of DateTime.Today.ToShortDateString() of the ValueToCompare property of "" cannot be converted to type 'date' i also tried ValueToCompare="DateTime.Now.Date()" and i got the same error message.

I am trying to implement search in our various ASP.NET websites that are all located on a particular web server that we control. The server is running IIS7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 32bit. I do NOT want to go third-party by using Google/Bing/etc APIs. I want to have an in-house solution for JUST our website directories (and not worry about searching through other documents elsewhere).
I have looked at Search Server 2010 Express, but that won't work because it is 1) 64bit, and 2) too much overhead for the tiny bit of websites we are wanting to search on. There is a 2008 Express edition that is x86 compatible, but I still think its way too much to install and run for what we are wanting to use it for.

Since I'm new to coding and I'm trying to understand why here is a little more detail on the question.If you have a text box and you are limiting the input to say 2 charactrs do you really need to validate the input further? What I have is a text box that has a max length of 2. Is there a security reason to add a validator to the textbox. I should add this is in Asp.net.

Is there a simple way of putting all list items from a listbox into a textfield? I'm not interested in selecting individual items, I want all items in the box to appear. I'd like the items to appear in the textbox as x, y, z, or x y z. The seperator type / format isn't important as long as long as there is some sort of spacing between each item.

I'm using UrlRouting in my app which is an ecommerce application. My Urls are configured as /shop/{ProductCategory}/{ProductName} I would like to use / character in the product category section so that I can show category/subcategory hierarchies e.g. /Electronics/Media-Players/ in this case this whole thing is the category but when I use it like this my current logic is thinking "Media-Players" is the product name. Is there a way to use slash characters in UrlRouting within a field?

if I google it I get things like "you could try..." or "that doesn't work if...", etc. and I want some tried and true way. So, have you written any age-calculation routines and found they actually work when put to the test (that would be, when they go live ) or simply found one on the Internet?
I tried googling "vbforums .net calculate age" and I got some VB6 code. I am thinking there might be something more sophisticated in .NET.
I tried searching "calculate age" in the advanced search here, and got hits like "calculate tax" and "calculate discount" so it's not recognizing my combined keyword string.

in my asp.net_vb code web. there are 9 textboxes whcih is used for entering numerical/dates
first is lve.text in whicj numder is entered
second one is lvefrom.text
thirdone is lveto.text
when user fills (lve.text) 5 and enter 15 Jan 2013 in lvefrom.text then lveto.text should show 19 Jan 2013. i had posted this earlier and got reply which is mentioned below. this code below gives me 20 Jan 2013 instead of 19 Jan 2013.
tw text boxes lve.text (number filled) and lve from.text (date filled). when user enter a numder in lve.text and select a date fro date picker in lvefrom.text then lveto.text should show date selected in lvefrom.text + number of days in lveto.text (eg if number of days is 5 and date selected in lvefrom.text is 15 Jan 2013 then lveto.text should display 19 jan 2013. because the starting day is also counted in my case.
Protected Sub lvefrom_TextChanged1(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles lvefrom.TextChanged
Dim ObjLocDate As New Date
Dim IntLocDays As Integer
IntLocDays = Convert.ToInt32(lve.Text)
ObjLocDate = lvefrom.Text
ObjLocDate = ObjLocDate.AddDays(IntLocDays)
lveto.Text = ObjLocDate.Date.ToString("dd-MMM-yyyy")
End Sub
fourt tex box is pfx.text, fifth is pfx1.text, sixth is pfx2.text
when use filles pfx.text 3 then pfx1.text should display 12 Jan 2013 and pfx2.text should display 14 Jan 2013. these are the prefix for leave( as 12 to 14 Jan 2013 is prefix.seveth is sfx.text, eighth is sfx1.text and nineth is sfx2.text
when user fills sfx.text 3 then sfx1.text should display 20 Jan 2013 and sfx2.text should display.

I want my searches like those in Stack Overflow (i.e. no action, no slashes):
mydomain.com/search --> goes to a general search page
mydomain.com/search?type=1&q=search+text --> goes to actual search results
My routes:
routes.MapRoute(
"SearchResults",[code]....
The search results route does not work. I don't want to use the ".../..." approach that everyone seems to be using, because a search query is not a resource, so I want the data in a query string as I've indicated, without slashes--exactly like SO does.
