VS 2010 - DropDown Is Not Getting Correct TEXT

I have a drop down list that has 11 items in it.
When I am processing, I have a Session field that has the value of "5" in it. The text for this is "APPOINTMENT".
I have made this the selected value for the drop down. When I try to get the TEXT for this field it is showing the TEXT for the 1st item in the drop down of "DECEASED".
Here is my code. I cannot figure out why I keep on getting the first value.

I am trying to correct the sort order of my ASP.NET drop down list.
The problem I have is that I need to select a distinct Serial number and have these numbers organised by DateTime Desc.
However I cannot ORDER BY DateTime if using DISTINCT without selecting the DateTime field in my query.
However if I select DateTime this selects every data value associated with a single Serial number and results in duplications.
The purpose of my page is to display data for ALL Serials, or data associated to one serial. When a new cycle begins (because it is a new production run) the Serial reverts to 1. So I cannot simply organise by serial number either.
When I use the following SQL statement the list box is in the order I require but after a period of time (usually a few hours) the order changes and appears to have no organised structure.

I use cascadingdropdown for these 3 dropdownlist below are codes:

I've just upgraded to Visual Studio 2010, and notice that now when I add an event to a control (eg, "OnDataBinding" to an "ObjectDataSource", the editor no longer creates the code behind function with the right arguments etc.
How to I get this bacK?

I am building this simple quiz application using asp.net/vb.net and sql server for the database. Now what I want to happen is that when I click on submit button, it will count all the correct answers of the user based on the radio button he clicks.
I have two radio buttons and the correct answer for those two radio buttons is A, now if they click both A for those 2 radio buttons, they will get a score of two else if wrong, it won't count the incorrect answer.

I have a gridview that was displaying and handling postbacks correctly, that is, until I upgraded to .net 4.0 (vs 2010) from .net 3.5. Now I am getting the classic (and in this context meaningless) "Input string was not in a correct format" error upon postback. The postback is initiated by a command button and the row command event handles everything nicely.
The trace shows internal grid postback handling and nothing else:

From experience, I know this happens on late binding with wrong type casting on the ASPX side of things. However, nothing has changed. The code is the same, the only thing that changed is the upgrade to 4.0.
I have tried everything I (and a coleague) can think of to figure out what the issue is without luck. No error is raised on the code behind in any method. The only error raised is the Page_Error event and the error object contains the same crap you see in the yellow screen dump (above).
UPDATE: I narrowed the issue down to the RaisePostBackEvent method. I had to reflect the System.Web (for educational purposes of course :) assembly to figure out the code executing after my RowCommand logic(which is fine) breaks. This happens in the HandleEvent method. It checks for known command names (e.g. Select) and if it can't find a match, it defaults to the following:

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? The row object is NULL which is why it defaults to the cast. The cast assumes the argument to be an integer however and in my case I am passing a string as an argument?

I've a web page that contains a Customers DDL, and a ClassCode gridview with a Salesman DDL. So far i have manged to populate the Customers DDL as well as binding data to the ClassCode gridview/ Salesman DDL. My next step is depending on which customer is selected(code event below), query the DB to get all relevant ClassCodes/Salesmen and update the gridview and any instances where the classcode doesn't exist for the customer the Salesman DDL will have a default value. Here's my code so far:

How to get the ClassCode for that row by getting DataKeys of the GridView, using the RowIndex of the Row. See if you have a SalesMan for the ClassCode. If you do, use FindControl to find the DropDownList in the Row, and set its SelectedValue.

I am working on a web form using VS 2010. The controls I've added previously to this form will show in the drop down list in code behind and are available to add events too. However any new controls I've added for last week or so are not visible in the list. I cannot access their events. I have scoured the forums and tried everything I can think of, nothing works.

What I want to do is extend the menu choices by changing the image buttons to behave like the regular menus, while maintaining their look (image resource). That is, clicking on the image should result in a submenu dropping down to display subitems. I know it's possible to use properties such as StaticEnableDefaultPopOutImage to indicate that a menu item has child items. I also understand that menu items can have background images, but what if I simply want to use an image rather than text on a main menu item that drops down subitems when clicked?

Can these two properties of a dropdown list in ASP.NET be used independently?
I wanted to retrieve a null value when the user selects some text; I couldn't as it retrieves the Text property whenever the Value is null. Eg:
l1 = new ListItem("Cat", null);
Console.WriteLine(l1.Value);
The output is
Cat
In another situation, when both the properties have different strings, I get the string in the Value property when I use the Text property. Eg:
l2 = new ListItem("Cat", "Mouse");
DropDownList ddl = new DropDownList();
ddl.Items.Add(li);
ddl.SelectedIndex = 0;
Console.WriteLine(ddl.SelectedValue);
Console.WriteLine(ddl.Text);

First, a user select a country from a dropdown list. The selected item & its value are store in a seesion. Then the user leaves this page.

I'm building a small website using ASP.net/C# and I wanted to know how to implement a simple search feature using a text box and a dropdown.
The datasource is a products table and in the text box I enter the product's name and in the dropdown are the categories. (I have managed to populate the dropdown with the available categories already)
It must follow these conditions:
If both text box and dropdown are blank all products must be listed;
If a category is chosen all products from that category must be listed;
If only text is filled, all products that match are shown;

My mission is to figure out how to hide a dropdown box, and I hope I will be able to receive some . My web form is set up like kind of a questionare, mostly yes/no, some N/A's for the answers in the dropboxes. I would like to make an entire question vanish based on the previous question being answered N/A. I have the web form setup using tables, each question occupying a cell.
