VS 2010 / Page Returning To Top When Image Displayed?

May 23, 2012

I have a form in vb 2010 with multiple image buttons displaying images. My problem is that when I click on a button the page automatically returns to the top of the page(the image is displayed). The me.button.focus() code causes the page to load on top of the displayed image. Is there a way to keep the focus on the button while the image is being diplayed at the same time.

Image Resized When Page Displayed Inside Of JQuery Dialog And IFrame

Jan 31, 2011

I am having weird display issues using the jQuery dialog with an iframe in Firefox and IE8.

I have tested the page itself outside of the iframe and the problems are not reproduced, only when inside of the jQuery dialog.

Issue,image actual size: 300x225 image display size: 400x300

JS Code - Parent Page

$(document).ready(function() {
var img = $('.photoLink');
var imgSrc = img.attr('src'); [code]....

The class of the image is set dynamically based on image dimensions.

The image path is set in the code behind, no styling or resizing done.

The images are resized upon upload to be no larger than 300x300.

Display is correct in Chrome and Safari, but in IE and FF for some reason it enlarges the image.

VS 2010 - Stub For A Web Service That Will Be Returning XML

Jun 23, 2011

I'm going to be calling a webservice that will return me data in xml format. Since the web service is not ready yet, I want to test locally by calling a function that returns the xml. So if I have a sample xml file on my hard-drive, how do I just open it and read it and create an xml string from it? I don't care at this point about parsing anything out; I will do that in the caller and have that written. I just want all the xml back.

VS 2010 - How To Select ALL Gridview Rows Not Just Rows Displayed

Jun 27, 2012

I have a gridview which right now is getting loaded with four pages of data. There are 50 rows per page. My problem is I need the "select all" button on my page to select 180 rows, not just the 50 on the page. This is my javascript:

Code:
function sel() {
var frm = document.forms[0];
isSelected = !isSelected;
for (var i = 0; i < frm.elements.length; i++) {
var e = frm.elements[i];
if (e.type == 'checkbox' && e.name.indexOf("ckSelected") > -1)
e.checked = isSelected;
}
}

I am more a C# person than javascript, but I am deducing that I need something other than document.forms[0] to represent the entire gridview. Or perhaps, I can't do this in javascript at all. Do I need server code to run and set a session variable, then when the user clicks the button to do something with all his selected rows (it goes to a detail page), query that session variable to see if it's all rows instead of iterating through each gridview row individually to see if the checkbox is checked?

VS 2010 Drag An Image Over Another Image?

Mar 21, 2011

I'm building a website for a friend where some pictures need to be uploaded. The pictures need to get a watermark on them automatically after uploading (to prevent other people using them as their own), but the watermark placement cannot be 'static'; if I put it in the same place on each picture then it will obscure too much of the content in some pictures.

So I want to enable my friend to choose the location of the watermark (possibly even the size, but that's not really important at the moment) for each picture individually.

At the moment I just have a page with a FileUpload control that allows my friend to pick the image. It is uploaded when the OK button is pressed and the URL to the image is stored in a database. That's basically it.

Now I was thinking to make another page after the upload page where you can see the image you just uploaded and can drag a picture of the watermark (which will be a transparent PNG image, possibly GIF if PNG is not possible) around to place it. Once placed, the user could click an OK button and the watermark is copied onto the image.

So what I need is a way to drag an image (the watermark) over another image (the picture), as well as the possibility to retrieve the location of the watermark image (relative to the picture image) afterwards (so I can draw it onto the picture using GDI+).

Is there anything that allows me to do this? When I search for stuff related to dragging images all I find is drag and drop samples, where you take an arbitrary image file and drag it into the browser. That's not what I want; the watermark is always going to be the same image, and it will be on the image by default (in the center or something). The user should be able to move it (possibly outside the boundary of the image to completely hide it) but never completely remove it from the image and drag it somewhere else (no drag drop).

Web Forms :: Master Page Works As It's Supposed Too For Each Web Page That Gets Displayed?

I'm using ASP.NET 3.5I have created a Master Page. The master page is simple. It has a table at the top which has the colors and rows and columns and text that I need on each web page that gets displayed. Beneath the table I have a ContentPlaceHolder. The master page works as it's supposed too for each web page that gets displayed.My question is that I have this header at the top and then the ContentPlaceHolder, but how do I add a Footer to the Master Page? The footer naturally needs to be at the bootom of the Master Page!How do you add a footer and make it remain after the ContentPlaceHolder at the bootom of the Master Page?

Will CLOB Data Be Truncated When Displayed In A Select Query? If So, How Can It Be Displayed

Jul 1, 2010

I've got a Varchar2 field in my table which I want to convert to a CLOB. I am unsure whether the data would get truncated when selected. If so, what is the limit and does it depend on the database settings?

In my TOAD or SQLPLUS window it gets truncated but this may just be the environment settings. I'm not sure whether it would get truncated in my actual application (I can test this, but up to what size should I test?)

If it does get truncated, what's the best way to display the whole CLOB? There are other fields in my SELECT query, so I think I can't just loop through multiple rows. Is there any way out?
