Visual Studio :: All The Data Between UI And Data Tier Communicates Through Xml?
Mar 16, 2010
All the data between UI and Data tier communicates through xml.I am using Utf-8 which causes the broken xml whenever special characters are inserted in UI. Is there some way, that I can convert the Utf-8 to Utf-16. Does it affect the existing code? What is the best way to convert or allow these special characters?
I have question about N-tier architecture. everyone about 3-Layer architecture these are:1). UI Layer, 2). Business Layer, 3). Data Access Layer.i already have worked on this. Then i heard about LINQ to sql. please tell me how many layer an web application should contain. As my knowledge. if i use LINQ to slq then i have to worked only 2-Laye
How I insert data in database..... I want to use class member as form fileds and also use class method to insert data and on click event i want to call these insert method ...
I want to use a source control in VS2010, I know my best bet is TFS, but at the moment TFS(can't afford ). As i understand TFS is the new VSS_2005(can afford)Can VSS 2005 be use as a source control for VS 2010 solutions/projects?
I just recently upgrade my asp.net web project from visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.
Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 locked up, and when I tried to restart it, it wouldn't load, so I did a devenv.exe /resetuserdata to get it going again. It reset everyhing in my options of the web app/ etc, and now some AJAX conrols don't work such as dragpanel. I assume that it is because something got reset that I haven't enabled again, but can't figure it out.
Im working on a website project with Visual Studio 2010 from 2 different computers (home & work). In Dreamweaver Im used to FTP to upload/download files to/from a webserver to syncronice my files on the current computer Im working on.What is best option in Visual Studio 2010 to sync project files between home & work computers? I have seen there is a built in FTP, but seems only it can upload files, limited functionality?
After i delete some files from my system to save space on my hard disk ::i face the following problem each time i click on any project exe the application data folder for visual studio cannot be created how to fix this problem?
I'm having a hard time really grasping this concept. I've done a lot of development with Microsoft Access, so I'm very familiar with the structure of tables, queries, and all that sort of thing. And maybe that's really hindering me with understanding what to do with ASP.NET/VB.NET development.
I have an ASP.NET web application, and I want to pull a UserName and the date that this user was created and last logged on. UserName is in the ASPNETDB's aspnet_Users table, and date created and last logged on is in the membership table. So in database explorer in Visual Web Developer, I opted to create a "New Query". It brought up the UI and I selected these two tables. Linked them with the primary key of UserID. Then I selected the three necessary fields (UserName, date created, and last logon date). Looks good, viewed the data. But there is no way to save this query to programatically reference it. I want to see what user is logged on, and then look through this query to get the other two pieces of data. But there is no way to save/reference this query.
I'm having issues with the Express version of Visual Studio 2005 ever since I had reinstalled Windows 2000. For some reason, while debugging I can't view variable contents if I hover my cursor over that certain variable, it just marks the variable with a square, but it won't show the DataTip no matter what. I had tried to restore my import/export settings, reinstall Visual Studio, but nothing seems to have helped, and I can only view variable contents using the QuickWatch window, or by putting it into the watch list, but to be honest this is extremely annoying. I haven't had this on my previous Win2k installation, and so far I couldn't find out why this occurs.
I have a profile of member to be displayed. I am using a dataset with all the data table adapter to retrieve the information from database.
I have a memContact method which has NRIC and Number as a composition primary key. Thus, automatically, the table adapter has created a method called FindByICNum () for me. However, when I do the search to display the contents, i will only need to search by memberic instead.
Is there anyway to change the table adapter query?
can Visual Studio 2008 be All-In-One tool to integrate source code continuously from team members, build, unit test?
Having used Visual Studio Team Edition 2005, unit testing each method within VS itself. I strongly believe that it is feasible to add-on tools. Example ankhsvn tool to use SVN from Visual studio [URL]
In my investigating i have come across number of tools(shown below) to use with Visual Studio 2008 professional
Development tool:- Visual Studio 2008 professional using Subversion as source control tool. Continuous Integration:- Hudson or Cruise control Build tool:- NAnt Testing:- NUnit, Selinium As Visual Studio 2008 can be used for unit testing I think NUnit is out of consideration.
In the same way i would like to have any other tools/add-ons to Visual studio to implement continuous integration, building and unit testing. This process should be automated such a way source code between team members is continuously integrated, built and unit testing is done as configured.
Objective is to use few number of tools as add-on to Visual Studio or achieve most from Visual studio itself (example unit testing). Visual Studio should be all in one tool.
I am aware that Team Foundation Server best suits my requirement, but it is out of scope due to its cost.
I am building master page in visual studio 2005 and I have placed contentplaceholder into between <head> and </head> tag of master page, but in source view of visual studio 2005, I am getting error that says "unrecognized tag prefix or device filter" how do i get rid of this error or is this bug in visual studio 2005
when i opened my Visual Studio 2010 i noticed that my ajax tab was missing from my toolbox and ajax control kit too. Then i noticed even that when i create new website, there is no web.config in it and it should be.WHAT IS GOIN ON???? :/
i install url rewrite iis module to my computer i want when i press f5 in visual studio my project work with url rewrite how can i this?my web sites is not seeming in iis.
I am wondering about the scalability of a webpage that uses a gridview connected to an SQL data source. The SQL data source queries a database once every 60 seconds to refresh the data by using a Script Manager and Timer. The SQL query is static and is not dynamically editable by the webpage viewer.
If n people have the webpage open, does that mean that the database is queried independently n times? So if 100 people have this website open on their PCs, does the database get queried 100 independent times?
If so, is there a better way to design the webpage so that the database is only queried once and then all the open webpages get updated without the added overhead cost of multiple independent queries.
I am making application with portable data terminal which connected to serial port. User will go with portable data terminal and scan data with it than we will connect it to PC and read all the data from it.
I need to open a txt text an search a sequence data. For example, searching for "name" and get the text NAME: John Doe and return only the "John Doe". An example of the contents of the text:
NAME: EDUARDO MANCIA AGE: 27 ADDRESS: Rua Altino Arantes NUMBER: 297 CITY: SAO PAULO NAME: CARLOS ABREU AGE: 32 ADDRESS: RUA SAO JOSE NUMBER: 1002 CITY: SAO PAULO
There is no standard type of a "name" per line, in fact everything is amended and the file is quite extensive, with 1687 contacts.
I've taken over an ASP.NET project and the previous dev used "dynamic" DSNs sprinkled throughout the application. These data sources are databound to several controls throughout the site.I'd prefer to use a system DSN that I would define on my dev machine and the production web server. This way if I need to change the location of the SQL database I can just change the system DSN on the server instead of modifying the code and recompiling the application in Visual Studio. What is the easiest way to list all these dynamic DSNs that are in use in this web site project in Visual Studio 2008 and modify them to use a system DSN instead?
