I downloaded some project from some site which is made in VS 2003. When I open its project file in Notepad I get following at first line Microsoft Visual Studio Solution File, Format Version 8.00. I don't have VS 2003 in my PC but I have VB 2005 and 2008 Express Edition. Now I wanted to upgrade that file but it is not doing.
View 3 RepliesIm having a strange problem which i never experienced before, the problem is my visual web developer 2005 express edition is not getting attached to the debugger, i mean when im running my web application it is not debugging the program if im putting any breakpoint, more over i uninstall and again installed visual web developer it worked fine for first time but again it is not working. i only difference is i have Internet explorer 8.I dont exactly know the problem. does any one faced similar problem

I have installed VS Team System 2008 from a dvd on my computer,the setup has installed every thing but failled the installation of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition.The setup terminates my this error"An error has occured during the installation,Could not install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition".
Then I have tried to install sql server 2005 through SQLEXPR.exe. But this .exe file has failed the installation of SQL Server Database Services and MSXML6.
Do anybody have any idea why sql server 2005 is not installing on my machine?
P.S I haven't installed any other version of VS except this VS 2008.
After I installed Visual Studio 2008 Standard edition, then I upgrade "SQL Server Express 2005" to "SQL Server Express 2008 SP2". Process upgrading SQL Server Express 2008 was going succesfully (none of the process was fail).
But when I create a New Website I could not add a new item "SQL Server Database" into my website file. Because Visual Studio always rejected any new "SQL Server Database" by giving message below (underline):
This server version is not supported. Only servers up to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 are supported.
Both visual studio 2008 express edition and visual studio professional setup's are install in my system, i like to uninstall visual studio 2008 express edition, and use professional edition. is there any problem arises in visual studio professional edition, if i uninstall visual studio 2008 exp edition

I have been developing my web application using ASP.Net with Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition. I would like to be able to create some fairly simple reports. I understand that in some of the higher versions of Express their is a report creation program called "Crystal Reports" but it is not available in the "Express" edition.
Is there some way that I can create reports in the Express Edition?
Is there a way to make a new project file using Visual Studio express 2010 using the files downloaded off a server from an asp.net web site? If so what are the steps? I would like to make a new project out of the old files without starting from scratch, I don't want to just edit a couple of things I would like to create a project file using the files I can get off the server if possible. It would be C#.

View 6 RepliesI have several css style sheets I want to work with. I have copied them into the appropriate directory structure in my project. The styles are applied correctly.But the manage CSS styles tool bar on the left margin doesn't seem to work correctly. At one point I had generated a style sheet and worked with it there, but now it not only can't find the one it generated, but the attach style sheet link doesn't respond at all, nor does anything in this bar. Same deadness with the CSS Properties bar. With or without a style sheet loaded in the editor -- a style sheet that is active in the project such that when I run it, the styles are applied.VB version of studio, running on Vista home basic.PS, the design mode works a lot better than the professional version I use in my day job on XP and server 2003.

View 4 RepliesI am considering an upgrade to Visual Studio 2010 Pro from my Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition while the price is still $299. I have successfully used Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition along with SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition to produce websites with database backends. I am assuming that I will still be able to do this with Visual Studio 2010 Pro without any heart-stopping transitional problems. Anyone have any experiences/advice about this? And just for the record, I cannot afford Visual Studio 2010 Premium which I believe would make this a moot point.

View 1 RepliesI have visual studio 2005 and sql server standard edition installed on my desktop. Im trying to get my head around the authentication and role administration part of visual studio controls.
At the moment Im using the browser version to configure the settings.
While im attempting to access the security tab to develope, users and roles i keep getting a message saying im unable to connect to the database. However, when i use my collogues PC with SQL server express installed it connects with no problems.
Does anyone have an idea how i configure this tool to use SQL server standard edition so i dont have to go back to express?

I have three folders , which original is build by vistual 2003 , recent ly I install vistuall 2005 on Win 7 and succesful covert one folder from vistual 2003 t0 2005 ( I forget how , I am new on win 7) , when I deat with my second folder I always get Test2( unviable) under the Solution Exporer ( vistual 2005) But I can access this folder by brows( when I try http://localhost/test2/) I get all the files under this folder , why I can see them on my vistual studio 2005???

When I hit F5 (to debug) it displays "Error while trying to run project" message. I am able to debug console and windows service applications. Recently I installed VS.NET 2010 (.NET Framework 4.0).
