View 3 RepliesI have a webapp with a Masterpage and 4 or so content pages. I have created a theme folder with a style sheet. I put the <pages theme="Default" in the web.config. When I run the app all the styles in the style sheet apply and it looks great. But design view does not apply the styles from my theme. Design view does not use the web.config setting or something. How do I get design view to apply the theme styles.
View 2 RepliesI am using asp.net menu control with sitemap. I placed this control in master page. I want to apply style sheet for that menu control. Can any one tell how to do that.

In my project I want to apply style sheet to all web forms at a time, so how can we do that.
As I am having too many forms it is not possible for me to apply it to all pages individually.
Is there any opportunity to change it in Visual Studio - not in IIS?
View 2 RepliesI added a DateTime column to a table in my database through the Server Explorer. Because the team lead for this project wasn't savvy on nullable types, one of the requirements was that there be no null values in the database. This requires me to program all sorts of useless code into the system, but that's another story. My problem arises when assigning a default value to this column. I typed the following into the cell for the "Default Value or Binding":
1/1/1753 12:00:00 AM
When I went to inspect the content of the table, I found that all of the dates had been populated with:
1/1/1900 12:00:00 AM
When i drag my table into any asp page inside the Visual Web Developer aspx page, Nothing happen, Even there is no datasource or gridView it just the blank page i created.
I tried to create new web forms and all same results i got.
Learning how to do a master page in asp.net. Trying to figure out how my style sheet interacts with respects to the master page and content page. I can get HTML tags like body and the style sheet to react. But when I call the ID attribute of a label no styling takes place. What am I missing here as far as interaction? BTW I'm using VS2008
CSS sample:
body
{
height:1200px;
width:920px;
border-style:solid;
border-color:blue;
padding:10px 10px 10px 10px;
}
#toptext1
{
position:relative;
top:-225px;
right:-500px;
font-size:22px;
font-weight:bold;
}
From the master page:
<body>
<form id="form1" runat="server">
<asp:image id="cookNookLogo" ImageUrl="images/Logo.gif" runat="server"
AlternateText="CookNook" Width="449px"></asp:image>
<p>
<asp:Label ID="toptext1" runat="server" Text="Quality Recipes, Hints and Supplies"></asp:Label>
</p>
From the content page:
<%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/CNMasterPage.master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Home.aspx.cs" Inherits="Home" Title="Untitled Page" %>
<asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="head" Runat="Server">
<link href="App_Themes/cn/cn.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
</asp:Content>
When I was doing this without a master page it worked so where am I going wrong with the attributes?
My date picker has no style as in it doesnt seem to be recognising the style sheet

I've encountered a problem when I put a treeview in a page which is using master page. The treeview style doesn't apply.For example, I set the nodes with different colors in different levels. But the treeview nodes are still displayed in the default color(bule).
The treeview code is :
[Code]....
If I use these code in a page which doesn't use a master page. The nodes are shown in colors.
Can i use multiple CSS or Style Sheet with a single Master Page
View 1 RepliesI would like to programmatically access a div in a style sheet for my master page and change its height value depending on the content page loaded.
Can this be done using Javascript in the Master page or in the code behind for the respective page? What I would like is something such as this if possible
When this content page loads, change the height value of this div in the css file
I don't want to use separate Master pages as this seems to defeat the whole purpose of the Master page
Every time I press F1 to view the online Help it launches in the Opera browser. I really dislike Opera and only have it installed on my PC for testing purposes. How do I change it to IE?
View 1 RepliesI am having an issue in VS 2010 trying to get even the default ASP.NET Web Application to run in Debug mode. I get the error:
"Unable to start program 'http://localhost:1443/Default.aspx'.
The system cannot find the file specified."
I am stumped here and cannot find anything out there with this error.
Why is there no default 'create/open' access to 'WebSites' from the VS2010 start page?
Background:I've succesfully been developing ASP.NET web applications (via WebSite method ((((Not WebProjects)))), using VisualWebDeveloper) for roughly 3 years. Personally, I prefer the WebSite method or strategy due to the decrease in both size and complexity (the web applications I build are generally for around 50-100 simultaneous users logging in and out and constantly manipulating data). I will continue bulding my sites via the 'Website' method provided VS2010 doesn't begin it's deprecation.The root of this question (which boiled into this post) came from perusing this article and this video tutorial. It's a shame to see functionality that brings with it an overall ease of use and increase in production capacity by decreasing both size and complexity of web application development... downplayed.
If the Visual Studio 2010 Development Team left this functionality out for a reason, I would very much like to know. So that I know what is going to be "sponsored by Microsoft" in a couple of years and I don't waste another second considering using the 'WebSite method' as a viable solution (as I know that I can't stick with vs2008 while rest the development community gets to evolve with the innovations implemented within vs2010)... WebSite method or the WebProjects method.
I have a requirement to read the excel sheet contents(with first row as header) and to populate it in a Datagrid. so as to manipulate the excel sheet data. But i get an error saying "Could not find installable ISAM". after a big struggle i came to know that the culprit is the "connection string". I tried with various connection strings and now i get the error " Format of the Initialization string does not conform to specification starting at index 121".

Is there a good way to apply intellisense in .skin files in ASP.NET 4? like a microsoft visual studio tool for example? I installed an intellisense schema for .skin files to my visual studio 2008 long time ago but it had some bugs so i had to remove it. any improvements in visual studio 2010?
View 1 Repliesi added css and skin file path inside a usercontrol

I am working on an ASP.NET project in Visual Studio .NET 2010 and attempting to make an MSI installer using a Web Setup Project. I added the Primary output from the project (which seems to pull in the relevant dependencies) and the Content Files from the project (which pulls in the Web.config and the .svc files).
The issue is that rather than applying the XDT transform and creating the Web.config using the Web.Release.config, it just copies the Web.config, the Web.Release.config, and the Web.Debug.config into the installer without doing any transformation at all.
How do I get it to apply the Web.config transformation before creating the installer?
I am using SharePoint Server 2007 + C# + .Net 3.5 + VSTS 2008 + ASP.Net. And I am using collaboration portal template.
I am developing a custom aspx page and put it in _layout folder of a site and I want to apply default.master of the SharePoint site to this aspx page. Any samples about how to achieve this goal?
I'm working on a personal project in Visual Studio 2010 Express edition, using ASP.NET & C#. When i debug my web pages, for some reason a few of my css & script files don't reflect the changes i've made to them. When i check their content using firebug, i see it's the old un-modified content, as if a cached copy was used instead of the new changed one. This doesn't happen with all the files, only a few. I tried restarting visual studio, deleting and adding the style/script again, but to no avail. I still see the old copies instead of the new ones.
View 1 RepliesI need to plan out a Class, Method, Attribute style diagram, I have looked at the Class Designer in Visual Studio, but it seems to not do what I want. I want to be able to have a diagram show the classes just like in Visual Studio - except I want to be able to represent the parameters these methods require, for example:
getStock(StockID)
And this be shown in the Diagram. This is for an ASP.NET website - what are the best ways of creating a diagram for a website like this to represent the methods - I don't want to start generating classes - which is why I want to use Visio, plus I am more familiar with Visio than the Visual Studio Class designer as I mostly use the Express line of products which don't feature this. I want this for example for Default.aspx:
Default.aspx
(View)
Methods:
- FeaturedStock()
- GetStock(StockID)
- ShowContent()
- ShowImage(StockID)
I don't want to use UML as this is too confusing - the Visual Studio Class diagram is close to what I want but I cannot get it to show the Parameters on my Methods. My main aim is to have "stubs" for each method a page requires to implement that functionality as a Developer this is the easiest way I can plan out this project.
I have a trial version of VS2010 and created a simple out of the box ASP .Net web application. I have been playing around with the css file for the project and have yet to figure out how to effect the menu tabs.
View 2 RepliesI have a cascading style sheet attached to my html (and they are both saved in the same file on my hard drive), but there are times when I close Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition (end of the day or whenever) and reopen it (the next day or a few hours later) to work on the same html, the style do not show up (the bottom of the screen says "Requesting Data...") and there is a clock next to the style sheet in the apply styles window. It never seems to request the data, and usually I have to open a new html page, save it in the same file, and copy the information over. Some times I have to do this 2-3 times before the style sheet will attach. If I open it in another html editor, the styles show up, but that editor does not have all of the functions that I need.
View 3 RepliesI am having problems disabling the autoinsertion of quotes for the 'style' and 'class' attributes on VS2008 SP1 on 64-bit Windows 7.
When I type:
<div class="
I end up with
<div class="""
In Tools->Options->Text Editor->HTML->Format, I set "Insert attribute value quotes when typing" off (and "...when formatting" is also deselected) but it still seems to insert the quotes.
why automatic quotes might be disabled for everything but style and class attributes?
