I want to make spider charts like this one: [URL] I want to know can I prepare it using reporting service 2008? I am using sql server 2008 as the database and working with Visual studio 2008.
View 4 Repliesmy problem doesn't involve any programming per se but it involves the interface of VWD so I hope I'm posting in the correct space. Anyways, most of the time when I scroll over something in VWD whether it be something in the Getting Started box or an option from one of the menu bar items a full-colored block will cover it and won't go away. This doesn't seem to be hurting anything but it is quite the annoyance. Has anyone else had this problem? How can I fix this? This does seem specific to VWD and no other application on my PC.

I am working on an ASP.NET project and I cannot make the breakpoints work! The project does not stop where I place a breakpoint. It does not seem to matter where I place the breakpoint.
I am in debug mode; I am using IE 8, Windows 7 OS;
Is there any tool for Visual Studio 2008 which can reformat ASPX code to make it more presentable (eg insert line breaks, format the lines so they wrap when necessary, etc)?
View 5 RepliesI have an application in Visual Studio 2008. I have been working with it for some time. Today, suddenly, it will not debug, or more specifically it does not stop at the breakpoints I created in Visual Studio. It just ignores them. I tested the break points by adding one at the opening of the Page_Load event and nothing. If I put in a mistake on purpose the application will build, the internet explorer opens, and gives me an error report. It has never done this before. Usually it stops IE from opening and gives me a list of errors at the bottom of the VS screen. I want my old VS back. I don't see how this could have changed it but I'll mention the things I've worked on recently. I've been trying to configure the session states in the web.config page, and then recently I started a new web page with a conection to a database and gridview. I have restarted VS and nothing has changed.
View 2 RepliesI know this is working correctly beacuse when I publish my website to my hosting provider, and request a resource in a protected directory, and I am not currently authenticated, I get automatically redirected to my login page and then once successfully authenticated granted access and redirected back to the sure *.aspx file in my protected directory (assuming I am authorized for those resources).
So that is working no problem.
However, when I run this from visual studio 2008 (F5) in debug mode, I am not being required to authenticate. It simply serves up the protected resource without asking for my credentials.
If I put a [PrincipalPermission(SecurityAction.Demand, Authenticated = true)] on a BLL class method, it will throw an security exception, but the page that is calling it is in a secure directory and I am never asked to authenticate using the login page.
I am closing and re-opening brosers, clearing cookies, etc..., but no matter what I do I am not automatically redirected to the login page, and the secure page when I launch from visual Studio running on the embedded local host. Thiis working perfectly externally, same build, same web.config, pointing to the same database, on the hosting provider. (yes, eventually, I will be using dev/test/prod db configurations to test, but for now for simplicity I am keeping it the same)
Not only is it maddening, but worse yet, it would obviously make testing this application impossible after the initial release.
is it possible to convert whole visual studio 2008 web site project to visual studio 2010 web site project
my current project references
i have a very annoying iis problem
iis server stops working until app pool is recycled
i am hoping that new visual studio (net framework 4.0) may solve this very annoying unsolveable problem
nfortunately, I can't get my breakpoints to work when in debug mode in Visual Studio 2008 (ASP.NET 3.5, Windows 7, IIS7). The website compiles and opens in debug mode, but the breakpoints themselves generate the following error message:"The breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document."There are some recommended solutions online, but for various reasons, either they haven't applied or I haven't been able to make them work. I've been trying to find the solution for about 12 hours now, and I'm getting desperate.(Note 1: This problem is specific to this website. I do have other websites that I open in VS2008 where the breakpoints work fine.)(Note 2: There is only one website/project associated with this problem. This website does not have multiple projects.)
View 1 RepliesI'm using Visual Studio 2008, and when I select/highlight something in design view and switch to source view it does not highlight and scroll to the selected item. This makes it really hard to change stuff in source view, and it's very inconvenient at worst

View 1 Repliescan Visual Studio 2008 be All-In-One tool to integrate source code continuously from team members, build, unit test?
Having used Visual Studio Team Edition 2005, unit testing each method within VS itself. I strongly believe that it is feasible to add-on tools. Example ankhsvn tool to use SVN from Visual studio [URL]
In my investigating i have come across number of tools(shown below) to use with Visual Studio 2008 professional
Development tool:- Visual Studio 2008 professional using Subversion as source control tool. Continuous Integration:- Hudson or Cruise control Build tool:- NAnt Testing:- NUnit, Selinium As Visual Studio 2008 can be used for unit testing I think NUnit is out of consideration.
In the same way i would like to have any other tools/add-ons to Visual studio to implement continuous integration, building and unit testing. This process should be automated such a way source code between team members is continuously integrated, built and unit testing is done as configured.
Objective is to use few number of tools as add-on to Visual Studio or achieve most from Visual studio itself (example unit testing). Visual Studio should be all in one tool.
I am aware that Team Foundation Server best suits my requirement, but it is out of scope due to its cost.
I just recently upgrade my asp.net web project from visual studio 2005 to visual studio 2010. The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.

View 1 RepliesI have upgraded a Visual Studio 2005 Web Site in a 32 bit server to Visual Studio 2008 maintaining the same 2.0 framework in a 64 bit server with Windows 2008 R2 Server. The Web Site has several class libraries.
After porting to Visual Studio 2008 2.0 Framework using the Upgrade Wizard, I found that I was unable to hit a break point in the Project code behind files while I was able to in the class libraries. The bin folder has the dlls and the corresponding pdb files for the class libraries. I did start the Web site as an Administrator and made sure whole bunch of IIS7 properties are properly set.
I tried to rebuild the solution as a Web Application in Visual Studio 2008 and gave up that approach as I faced hundreds of error messages pointing to missing references and namespaces inspite of adding whole lot of references and namespaces to the Web.
