WCF - Meta Data Exchange Configuration - How To Fix It
Mar 11, 2010
I have defined two endpoints in my App.Config file as
[code]....
I received the following error when i try to launch the host
The HttpGetEnabled property of ServiceMetadataBehavior is set to true and the HttpGetUrl property is a relative address, but there is no http base address. Either supply an http base address or set HttpGetUrl to an absolute address.
How to fix it?

I have a situation where we are splitting dynamic content from static content and each is getting its own web server. The people maintaining the site want to be able to make navigation changes once and have it show on both servers without any major extra work (for them). I'm putting the navigation structure in an XML file which also has information on things specific to each content page. This brings me to the question of how to share that file. If I want the change to be instantaneous I can't rely on a scheduled task to copy the file from one server to another.Access to one of the servers is very limited due to security policy.
I am thinking about maybe a web service running on one server to get the data from it to pages on the other server. Does this sound viable or do any of you have other ideas that may work better? I considered having the navigation in a database but this introduces the need for a tool for the navigation updaters to have for them to do that. It is easy for them to update XML and just publish to the server with a lower security level. To get them database access requires terrible paperwork and meeting with security people.

Using Visual Studio 2010 Web Developer Express (vb.net code) with SqlDataSource to SQL Server 2008.
I am developing an email form to my users to send email to vendors with an attachment. The aspx page is quite simple -- 2 dropdownlists, a fileupload control, and a send email button. They select their store (which populates the "From" address of the email). They select the Vendor (which populates the "To" address of the email). Then they browse for the file attachment and click "send email"
I just can't get outside emails to send. I do not get any error messages in the web page. If I change the email1 and email2 in SQL Server Vendor table to an email address (mine) within the domain I get the emails. However when I change to a test hotmail, yahoo, or gmail accounts the emails never get there. I have absolutely no confidence that my programming is correct so before I go to the IT Manager again I really need to verify I am not missing something on my end. We did make a change on the exchange server to allow anonymous email from my webserver and still didn't work.
Here is my webconfig file:
[Code]....
Here is my code-behind:
[Code]....
Here is my aspx page:
[Code]....
I have been playing around with the programming for 2 days making 1 change at a time then testing to see if external email is sending. I'm going quite crazy at this point ...
I've put in breakpoints and debugged. Below is the output from the latest test. I have concerns about the clientDomain being "SQLSVR" which is my webserver name, our domain is "chuckanddons.com". As well as the line "Domain" that is blank " " under NetworkCredential. Also the line TargetName "SMTPSVC/exchangesvr"
[Code]....

I run a Exchange 2010 server and created an account for one of my websites to send e-mails.
The webserver's IP is even listed on the [Organization Configuration] -> [Hub Transport] -> [Global Settings] -> [Transport Settings] -> [Message Delivery] list.
The code sets a set of Network Credentials, but setting incorrect or correct settings, it doesn't matter; if I list external e-mail addresses, I get a "Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.7.1 Unable to relay for <address>" message, 'local' addresses that are cc-ed, do get delivered...
When checking with telnet, I noticed that the only AUTH option was AUTH NTLM, but when checking the NetworkCredentails, it stated that NTLM should would.

I know it is possible to add custom headers via the httpProtocol >>customHeaders section of the web.config for 2.0+ sites but this is not allowed on 1.1. Is there an easy way to add meta tags to all pages of a site? I've already tried the httpHeaders tab in iis(6) but with no luck.
I need to force ie7 mode on ie8 for all pages of my 1.1 sites.

I have a dynamic table in my view. The table is used to enter data about items, the number for which is not known. The the user can add any number of rows to the table. The script is plain javascript.
Questions:
1. Right now a normal textbox and dropdown is added to each row using the javascript. How can I add a html helper control instead so that I can get the viewdata values.
2. The model contains a List<T> as a property. So, the dropdown control id is named as an array. Eg: item[0].type, item[1].typeThe problem is this dropdown is populated by data from viewdata. How can I add the data for an array thru viewdata. Remember the number of items is not known

I'm beginner at C#, asp.net and I took a course about databases (fundamentals of Databases) I wouldn't ask such question because:
The thing I am required to do is an e-commerce project (small one) and I am stuck after connecting the database from SQL Server to Visual Studio using server explorer?
How in a simple manner can I send SQL queries and retrieve data and display it?
The problem is I have asked this while they know we didn't take web programming courses and I have to deliver the project next week (e-shopping cart + registration + signing in) !!!!

I have a simple site [URL]that I setup for my parents and other family member to share recipes on. The issue I have is that when I try to incorporate a google search the header is always RECIPE form from the dynamically driven site.
If page requested is [URL] in a SEO return I want it to have the title of the recipe to be Apple Sour Cream Crumble Pie not RECIPE FORM or RECIPE PRINT FULL FORM
How can I get this changed and also have metadata dynamically created to improve SEO returns?

I am using the Html.DisplayFor() and Html.EditorFor() helper methods to auto-scaffold a Display view and Edit view for a Municipality entity.
My Application layer is used to retrieve a Municipality class:
[Code]....
For the Display view this entity is mapped to a DisplayMunicipality class containing Display meta data:
[Code]....
For the Edit view this entity is mapped to an EditMunicipality class containing Edit meta data:
[Code]....
This works fine but it requires a lot of extra code, not only the code mentioned above but also all kinds of conversions inside my controller.
Is it possible to put the meta data in the Municipality class that is returned from the Application layer? In that case I need some mechanism to specify that a property should be shown in the Display view or Edit view.

The end goal is to be able to reference our address book, and give the user the ability to select a Manager, which then in turn would return all the results for all the users under that manager. This information is stored in our Exchange servers address book. ie when you select on a person's name in Outlook, then Organization, you get their manager, so when you select the Manager on this site, I want it to return the results for all of his/her members.
I have a site that has a dropdown list of users who've entered data into a DB. This list is populated with a User's alias when they enter data.This DB of data (including Users' aliases) contains data from users in multiple groups, and I am trying to figure out how I can access our Outlook exchange.

I have a site where users can save images together with a couple of info fields about the image. The images are stored as binary data in the same table as the rest of the image info. So far pretty standard.
Now, the users should be able to upload a document, describing the image in more detail, along with the rest of the image and its' info.
Size ~2MB per document.
My question is: Should I store this document (binary data) in the same table as the rest of the images or should I create a new table holding only the documents. There would of course be an id reference in the image table to the document in the document table.
I have a search function joining a couple of tables, including the image table, when searching for images. I need to know if there's a difference in efficiency between these two solutions.
I always fetch the document data separately but if I don't win anything in having the documents in a separate table I'll just put it with the rest of the image info.
I'm asking this since I don't really know how SQL Server handle tables when joing and searching in them.
I have about 10´000 users with a maximum of 10 images per user. (ASP.NET - SQL Server)
(I'm not asking if I should store documents in the database, but how ;)
Example:
columns in imageTable - id, title, dateAdded, image (binary data), document (binary data)
Searching for items from a specific user I would join the userTable and the imageTable and select title where image id equals user id.
So, will there be any difference in the performance if the document is in the imageTable or in an own table?

Have a custom FieldTemplate (RadioButtonChooser_Edit.ascx) that shows a radiobuttonlist based on a single character. Using LinqtoSQL/DynamicData enabled.
Example G, F, P (Good, Fair, Poor).
If the custom metadata for a field in the table is set [Editable(false)] I get a G, F, or P. I would like to show the full word when editable is set to false. Not sure how to approach this.

Does anyone have any experience with importing meta data files from Ping Identity into an ACS provider?
I'm logged into my Ping Identity admin system, all fine, no problem. Then, when I export the idP file... no digital signature is included within it and thus I cannot import this file into ACS as it complains that there's no signature included.

Inside my ASP.NET application, I would like to add an iframe where I can display the emails from our exchange server for the logged in user. The web application uses forms authentication with custom authentication (passwords are hashed and stored in db).
Is there a way to show OWA within my web app without prompting the user for password (OWA uses windows authentication)? Can I use impersonation in some fashion or establish a trust between my IIS server and the server running OWA?

I've created an ascx control for use in Sharepoint that accesses Exchange 2010 via it's web services. When run in it's own ASP.NET test site (wrapped in a simple aspx page) all works fine. As soon as the control is used within Sharepoint a "The Autodiscover service couldn't be located" error is encountered.
The code behind dll for the ascx control has been dropped in to the GAC and also Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.dll
Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices.dll has also been added to the safe control list in web.config for the sharepoint site:
<SafeControl Assembly="Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" Namespace="Microsoft.Exchange.WebServices" TypeName="*" Safe="True" />
I can ping the autodiscovery service and access the Exchange web service url https://mydomain.com/EWS/Services.wsdl from the Sharepoint server.
A username and password is being sent to the service in the ascx's code behind:
Dim service As ExchangeService = New ExchangeService()
service.Credentials = New WebCredentials(usrExchange, pwdExchange)
service.ImpersonatedUserId = New ImpersonatedUserId(ConnectingIdType.SmtpAddress, email)
Interestingly, if I specify the url [URL] to the service I get a 405 Method not allowed error.

We have a series of sites that run in on an outside server but currently to send email everything is routing through our local inhouse exchange server. We are looking to move our exchange to a ofsite exchange service, but don't want the emails from our apps to route to it for sending. I have seen some third party add ons that will allow you to send email with the smtp but not route through exchange. Does anyone have any experience with doing this? If so what would you suggest. Just looking for a way that we can send mail with out routing back through our servers.

//impersonation code
service.Credentials = new NetworkCredential(ServiceAccountUserName, ServiceAccountPassword, domain);

I have been given a task to write a program to automatically create a 2010 exchange mailbox. My research tells me to use powershell but I can't seem to find the namespace to reference and would like some sample code. I found some code on the web but I don't know what the namespace is for PowerShell. I think it might be System.Management.Automation but when I try to reference the namespace it does not exist in the list of dotnet. All I have is System.Management and System.Management.Instrumentation.
