When you run an application in the debugger, it appears to not apply the transformations to the web.config based on your build selection. Is this the case or am I missing something? It appears to be working just fine if I publish to local IIS, just does not seem to work in the debugger.
View 1 RepliesI've been searching around on a way to use the new features of web deployment in VS2010, namely the transformations for config files, but everything I reference just says "right-click on web.config and add config transforms".Is it possible to do config transforms (and get all of the other publish goodness) in a 3.5 ASP.Net MVC project in VS2010? Is it just an msbuild file?

I use this feature for deployment purposes and wondered if it is possible to use them for debugging too.I think of using them in the IDE: I want to create different built configuration (with linked transformation configurations); choose one of them; start the web site in the IDE and debug the different configurations this way.

It seems to work when I do "Build deployment package" but not when I just want to locally start the debugging using the green arrow. It just uses the web.config without processing theWeb.Debug.config. I can prove that because in web.config I have debug="false" with a transformation in Web.Debug.config so that it gets true but everytime VS asks if it should modify the web.config to enable debugging which it should've done automatically with the following transformation:

Am I missing something here? I used to work with NAnt to modify/create the web.config as a pre-build event but I thought that I wouldn't need it anymore. Am I wrong? The project is a freshly created asp.net mvc 2 web application.
I'm trying to develop my first web application using Web.Config transformations.Trying to run the app (building with the "Dev" build configuration)in the Asp.Net Debugging web server built into VS the site doesn't seem to work - the "Web.Dev.config" configuration doesn't appear to be seen by the application.

If I take a brand new VS2010 web application which already has the configtransformations by default I don't have a problem so I suspect my issue is project related.

1) implement transformations between slide to slide.
2) and the direction means orientation in changing of slides.
I'm trying to debug a VS 2010 Web app and I'm using the IE 8 debugger for Javascript. Does anyone know what causes this message? I don't have any other debuggers going. There are no other processes going on.
View 7 RepliesWe have recently had some security issues with our web app where users have actually gone into the IE debugger tool and enabled a "Submit" button and saved data they shouldn't have. So...my question is....is their anyway to prevent this from happening?
using VS 2010 and the IE Debugger. I can't get it to work for nothing. The IE Debugger works fine with all other VS versions. I've done the necessary steps in the "Internet Options" "Advanced" tab.
View 16 RepliesI am working on a large website that is comprised of multiple applications. We are still using web forms. All of the applications are in a common directory that serves as the root directory in my localhost. The site was originally built in 2005 on 3.5 but has been migrated to 2010 still running on 3.5 (2.0). My problem is that my debugger will run once. After I stop debugging I cannot run the debugger again - it just hangs. My locals and watch windows open but do not populate and the browser never opens. We are running Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate on Windows 7 32 bit.

The host PC (WinXPsp3) running Visual Studio is connected to an AD domain, and is logged in with a domain account. The VM is not connected to the domain and is logged in with the local Administrator account.The VisualStudio remote debugger requires authentication in both directions, so I would normally add my domain account as a local admin on the VM and allow debug permissions for that user.Since the VM is not on the domain, I can't add my domain account as a local admin. What can I do to get remote debugging going between my PC and the VM?

How can I make visual studio asp.net debugger to bind to all ipaddresses of my network instead of localhost? So I can debug under another circumstances.

Also if I am stepping through C# code in the debugger, is it okay to add documentation in the file while I am debugging? I tried this and recieved a pop-up message box informing me that the code had changed. Otherwise the IDE seemed forgiving in regards to comment changes in debug mode. Also I guess this might also lead into the question of wether it is acceptable to add code during debug mode?
My Visual Studio debugger detaches every time when I try to access a property in a web application. I don't use Visual Studio's inner webserver, just the standard IIS. It seems like that property has somewhere a stack overflow

I've tried to delete all temp folder including ASP.NET temporary files, no change at all. I've tried to start devenv.exe /log
but in the log xml, there was hardly any exception. Is there any way to get that exception which causes the debugger to stop/detach?
Plus info is that another colleague can debug that property. I've tried to get his vssetting file, but no change.
i'm trying to debug some code i.e. trying to get the values of some parameters

However when I Load an assembly into to sandbox, the debugger crashes. I am in ASP.NET.

View 2 RepliesI am attempting to debug my Visual Studio 2005 project. I have Internet explorer 8 and it's running on IIS.
When I hit the "debug" button, a new Internet Explorer browser window opens and my ASP VB .NET application loads normally. However, Visual studio returns back to regular editting mode and I can hit the "debug" button again. No break points hit but my web page still runs and loads normally.
The Output screen use to show Web.Server(exit 0) but now it doesn't show anything.
I have an application in Visual Studio 2008. I have been working with it for some time. Today, suddenly, it will not debug, or more specifically it does not stop at the breakpoints I created in Visual Studio. It just ignores them. I tested the break points by adding one at the opening of the Page_Load event and nothing. If I put in a mistake on purpose the application will build, the internet explorer opens, and gives me an error report. It has never done this before. Usually it stops IE from opening and gives me a list of errors at the bottom of the VS screen. I want my old VS back. I don't see how this could have changed it but I'll mention the things I've worked on recently. I've been trying to configure the session states in the web.config page, and then recently I started a new web page with a conection to a database and gridview. I have restarted VS and nothing has changed.
