Jul 16, 2010I am using VS2010 and .NET4 for a web app. I have a script manager/update panel that has a couple of grids.
The client just leaves the page opens and views an updated grid every 30 seconds or so.
I want to refresh the grid by calling the server side method to load the grid, but not load the whol page using meta refresh or similar (too much screen flicker and unnecessary bandwith).
Is it possible to set some timer using javascript or something and call a specific server method to refresh controls?

Jan 3, 2010I am trying to get my ListView to select the item that was clicked.
I have it working with a CommandButton in the listViewItem, but I would like to have the item select when the user clicks anywhere on the row.
I need to somehow PostBack or otherwise get the ListView to return to the server and re-bind with data. I just don't know enough about client-side script to get this done.

Mar 1, 2011I have a form that contains controls that have RequiredFieldValidator.
Everything was working fine when I click the submit button that validators appeared on the empty field.
Now, I added a checkbox (chkAcceptTermAndCondition) that call javascript function to enable
the submit button only if the customer had accepted the "Terms and condition".
The problem is that once I check the checkbox, the submit button is enable, I click on it
and it doesn't use the validator anymore...like even if all the field are empty, no validator will fire.

Oct 17, 2010Suppose I'm building a StackOverflow clone using webforms ASP.NET and jQuery. The Question page has a question, several answers, and comments under each. Requirements:Users can post new answers and comments, and edit existing ones, without postbacks. No UpdatePanels; the AJAX calls retrieve just the JSON they need, not HTML fragments. The page loads with all existing answers and comments in place (no javascript needs to run to read the page).
What I'm trying to figure out is how to do this without having to maintain two sets of markup (one that's bound on the client using some form of jQuery templating, and one that's bound on the server using traditional WebForms).

Jun 15, 2010I have a simple WCF service that I call server side from code behind via a service reference. It's used for validation and works and was automatically setup by Visual Studio and is using SOAP I think because the binding is wsHttpBinding.
I want to use the same WCF service, but call it client side from jQuery using ajax(). I'm trying to implement it by way of these instructions.
But if I make the changes to get the client side call working, I have to add the decoration below which I think will break what works on the server side and also change the system.serviceModel section in web.config.

I have attached a JS confirm box on the asp.net save button for the form. The trouble is that when the user leaves required fields unfilled and clicks the save button, the JS confirm box comes up, when the ok button is clicked, the save method is called successfully and only after this happened do the asp.net validators fire and display that required information has been left out.

Mar 3, 2011I have a web form which does a full page postback when a button is clicked. This is caused by an update panel trigger. Client-Side: When the button is clicked, an animation gif is displayed Server-Side: When the button is clicked, the server side event changes the content type to excel, binary writes out excel content (byte array) and does Response.Flush() and Response.End() Client-Side: User is asked to either open or download the excel file. Animation gif is still displayed.
Question: How can I detect client side (using jQuery or Ajax) that the response has been completed. There is no page postback because the code-behind has cut off the response by using Response.End().
