Web Forms :: Content Pages Disabled In Design View?

I don't know if this is a basic question or not as I'm brand new to master pages.
I am using VS2010 and an automatically generated asp.net (C#) website. It created the site.master for me which I then edited to give the look for my site.
For some reason I can't drag and drop controls from the toolbox onto each of my content pages. I know I can add them in code but they then don't get added to the designer.cs file and of course if I add them manually they'll get overwritten at the next build.
As I say, I don't know if this is normal behaviour or not but I need to know how to add controls to my automatically generated ContentPlaceHolder with it's associated aspx file with Content tags.

I have the following problem:
I have started to use Masterpages, and normally you can code in the Source view and also you can switch to the Design view and watch everything you did, but, when Ive introduced master-pages, I can see only the master page design view but I cannot see the Content form design!!! :S

i created an asp Table in the markup view and insert rows and cells with controls in them.
when i switch to the desing View, i can only choose the whole table,
how can i focus on the controls inside the table rows in the design view (i want to see their properties)?

Using the vertical split view, it appears as though it defautls to displaying the source on the left, and the design view on the right. How can I switch tme around?

I have over 300 content pages to create. Each has some standard styling. I would like to generate these pages, and was just wondering if there is a utility in web developer 2008 express to do so (otherwise I will just build one - but it would be great not having to do so!)

in my project the design view is not viewed, but the project is working well and good .. the only issue is i cant see my design view ..
error stated is ""Cannot switch views: Validation (Internet Explorer 6): Element 'Style' cannot be nested within element 'td'.""

I have a main master page, say MasterPageMain, and a couple of folders with couple of pages in each folder which act as a child page to that master page - MasterPageMain.
Now, I have about 10 pages in one of the folder which follows a certain pattern and they could really use a nested pages since any change on some parts needs me to change all the pages which is a pain really.
I already added a Nested master page, say NestedMasterPage - which is a child of MasterPageMain
I tried to change one of the page's <%@ Page directive to NestedMasterPage, immediately, there were a lot of errors. plus I dint know where the NestedMasterPage's children content would go.
What do I need to know in order to do this succesfully?
ps: I dint do this initially because I only had 2 pages, and I dint need this at that time, as the project grew, now i see that I should have changed it much earlier..

can't connect to sql 2005 express sp1 and vs is also sp1. 2) Which my guess is because of the database connection not being able... design view is not able to pull in the application for design, it's as if there is no theme and css just white background and black print.

I will be getting data through wcf service coming form commerce server (instead of DB). Data which is coming will be in the form big html content with all html tags or may be a single line sentence. I should display this dynamic data into the placeholder in the content page (master content page). I have been trying but not able to load when the data is in the form of HTML page. html content or may be single lline of senetence.

I have a user control (ascx) vs 2010 that contains a modalpopup extender thats popup control is an asp:panel. In that Panel I have an update panel and a contenttemplate inside the upd panel. It is a pretty simple example of its use, in that I have list box allowing the users to create a new row in a table.
However, when I click targetcontrol, the background changes to the expended modal background, but instead of being able to use the listbox, everything in the content panel is the same as the background and none of the controls on the panel are enabled. In other words, the entire page is loaded dimgray, including the updatearea.

I'm attempting to set a class on the body tag in my asp.net site which uses a master page and content web forms. I simply want to be able to do this by adding a bodycssclass property (see below) to the content web form page directive.
It works through the solution below but when i attempt to view Default.aspx the Content1 control loses its content.

I'm using Visual Studio 2008, and when I select/highlight something in design view and switch to source view it does not highlight and scroll to the selected item. This makes it really hard to change stuff in source view, and it's very inconvenient at worst

Is it possible with ASP.NET Master Pages to create content pages dynamically?That is, I know we can create content dynamically, but the content pages themselves,can those be created programmatically? I want to give my users the ability to define new content pages (i.e. Categories: Sofas, Tables, Lamps, and add/delete as they see fit) through a management panel. I created a .master page having images,.css file. If i created I .aspx page then it displays normally (with master pages content) but if I create .aspx page inside some folder then design is not applying to the sub pages (Only for pages which are inside the folders)

How do you implement SquishIt to bundle Css/Js across View Pages and Render it in the Master page? I thought I could use a ContentPlaceHolder above the Render portion, but there seems to be some odd behavior where it sometimes adds 3 files (1 in the view page and 2 in the master page) but other times will ignore the file added from the View Page.

I have the user control and web page. When I place user control in the web page and in design time, it cannot view and error is "System.Web.UI.UserControl does not have a public property named 'ContentTemplate". It seems not related of error message.

When I try to look at my masterpage/form in design view it's only partially visible. It's shifted so far to the left that i can only see the right half of it. I don't understand why. I'm using negative margins to center the form at runtime, which is working great. It appears to be shifted to left about half of it's width, which would equal the negative margin.

Is this a deficiency with the rendering in Design view? Is it a discrepancy between the way a browser would interpret the styles and the was the Design view interprets them?
