Mar 11, 2010I am trying to add a web reference to my project in Visual Studio 2010 that points to PayPal's Sandbox service.

Although VS finds it using the Add Web Reference dialog box, when I press the Add Reference button I get the following error and it fails:
Failed to add Web Reference 'com.paypal.sandbox.www'.
Error: Access to the path 'C:Documents and SettingsMyNameLocal SettingsTempPayPalSvc.wsdl' is denied.
Even if I attempt this using http instead of https it still fails with the same error.

Jan 18, 2010I've just got a new computer and have moved my Web Applications from the old XP over to my new Win 7 machine. When I run my the applicatinos, I get an error that says "Failed to map the path '/'.". Line 130: Line 131: // Get encryption and decryption key information from the configuration. But my colleague runs the same applications, with the same settings on his similar computer/system, without running it as administrator. So my thought is that it must be possible to solve this withour running VS as administrator. Does anybody know why and perhaps how to solve it

Jan 18, 2011Recently i am getting the follwoing error when i run my application in localhost.
Failed to map the path '/mechano/App_GlobalResources/'. I believe the error is occured after installing sp3.
I have VS2008(3.5) and sqlserver 2005. Recently i have installed SP3 and uninstalled SP3 as it made my pc very slow. Before installing SP3 everything worked well.
I have tried the following to get rid of the error, but none of this steps helped me
1.

First step was to delete the ASPNET user account and then run the aspnet_regiis utility in the framework folder:
c:WINNTMicrosoft.NETframeworkv2.0.50727aspnet_regiis -i
This will re-register ASP.NET with IIS and re-create the ASPNET account.
Next you need to give permissions to the (nicely refreshed) ASPNET user account to access this folder with Modify permissions:
C:Documents and SettingsAll Users.WINNTApplication DataMicrosoftCryptoRSAMachineKeys
A quick restart of IIS (quick-tip: simply type iisreset in a run dialog to restart your IIS) and you should be away. It worked for us anyway :)

Jun 18, 2010I'm trying to set up a page that will allow users to download files from a shared drive (where the file is actually sent via the page). So far this is what I have.

The aspx page looks kind of like this:

When I remove the erroneous parts of the code, the page tells me that the Windows Identity I'm using is my user (which has access to the drive). I don't understand what the problem could be or what it's even complaining about.

May 23, 2010I am loading the config file programaticality so that i can edit it but ive hit a hitch in that when i debug it through VS i get the following error:

I use it in other sections of my site and know that it works as intended when it is deployed to my webhost. I am having issues with another section where I use it so I want to step through it to debug, what do I change this "~" to, to correctly reference the config when I am debuging locally.

Apr 6, 2010I am runnign the SQL 2005 with Membership structure and two web-applications on the same server box. Each web application uses its own Application Name in aspnet_Applications table. There are two application names.
The users from web-app1 could not login to web-app2. Each web-apps uses different Application Pool. Each providers section of Membersip use correct applicationName from aspnet_Applications. The first application is working correct.
The problem is that sometimes the users could not login to web-application 2 during day. I get error Event code: 4006 Event message: Membership credential verification failed. The users start to login again after I Recycle - Stop - Start Application Pool of this web application.

Dec 17, 2010I am trying to add Failed Request Tracing to my IIS 7/ASP.NET server.
First, I create failed request tracing for "all content, error codes 400-999" because want to save all errors.
Then, I try to create a trace for "all content, time: 5 seconds" because I want to trace all "long" requests. However, IIS 7 gives me an error: "A failed request trace for this content already exists".How can I add this second trace for all content that takes > 5 seconds?

Mar 8, 2011I'm getting the old "Validation of viewstate MAC failed" error when I click the submit button on my form. (Seehttp://blogs.msdn.com/b/tom/archive/2008/03/14/validation-of-viewstate-mac-failed-error.aspx) The thing is I'm getting the error even when the page is completely loaded (it can be sitting there for five minutes before I hit submit but I still get the error). This isn't even a particularly lengthy page (which is one of the preconditions). It uses a DetailsView (which I understand is another precondition for this error), but it's the only databound control on the page. Also, whenever users get this error (which is 100% of the time when they click Submit), they lose their login authentication and have to log back in. This page/site has been in use for about six months but the error suddenly started a few weeks ago without any changes being made to the code.
