Web Forms :: ImageButton - Method In Onclick Triggered Instead Of Page_load?
Dec 2, 2010
If I use an ImageButton or LinkButton, I just noticed that when clicking either, the Page_Load method executes before the method specified in the OnClick. Can this be avoided so that the method in the OnClick is triggered instead of Page_Load?
I'm using ASP.NET 3.5 and C#.I load an SqlDataSource into a DataView on my Page_Load event. My SqlDataSource queries arandom record from the database. On my page I have an ImageButton, which when clicked uses a Response.Redirect("AnotherPage.aspx + "random id from database"). My problem is that when the button is clicked it fires the Page_Load event before the Response.Redirect takes place in the button_click event. This causes the current data(the users "id") that I had pulled from the database to be overwritten with new data(a different "id") from the database. So essentially the the page is redirecting to the 2nd random id that is queried from the db after the button is clicked and Page_Load is fired again, not the original id. Here's my code, hope it makes sense.Here's my Page_Load:
Can I put my dataview in another event or method so it's not called when a user clicks an ImageButton. Also I want the DataView to be repopulated on a postback/page refresh, just not on button clicks.
I created an image button called "pic1" with the OnClick feature. When clicked it runs "btnClicked". In the sub "btnClick", how would I get information? One example is to get the button tooltip. I tried this: request.form.item("pic1.tooltip"). That did not work.
I had an MVC 1.0 web application that was in VS 2008; I just upgraded the project to VS 2010 which automatically upgraded MVC to 2.0. I have a bunch of viewpages have codebehind files that were manually added. The project worked fine before the upgrade, but now the onclick even't don't get triggered. I.e. I have an asp:button with an onclick event that points to a method in the codebehind. When you click the button, the onclick event doesn't get triggered. In fact, when you look at the Page variable, IsPostBack is false.
This is really bizarre and I'm wondering if anyone know what happened and how to fix it. I'm thinking it has something to do with the changes in MVC 2.0; but I'm not sure. (deleting the codebehinds and moving that to the controller is not really an option since there is so many pages, moving back to vs 2008 is a last resort as I want to make use of some of the VS 2010 features like performance testing.)
Why isn't the image displayed? The folder images is in the same folder as the .aspx file.Why doesn't it invoke the ImageButton1_Click method when I click on the image? The OnClick should be for the server side.The ImageButton1_Click method takes 2 parameters, but why OnClick does not require 2 parameters?
The 2 parameters are: object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e. What are they and why I pass in a string and a gridview, which I don't think match with the arguments definition, and it still works?
and I want when I click on linkbutton it doesn't open new window...
here when I click on linkbutton it doesn't open new window it is correct but when I click on imagebutton and it opens new window and back to page and click on linkbutton it open linkbutton in new window...
I want when I click on link button it doesn't open new window any way...
I don't know what I'm making wrong.I have a submit button, and on click it should execute the funktion in the code behind, but I get the error that the funktion is undefined.this is my code in the .aspx webform:
I have an imagebutton with an postbackurl and an onclientclick script. When i added the onclientclick code, if my javascript validation passes (aka returns true), the page just seems to perform a postback (the screen just seems to refresh
I decided to change what JS functions Im calling now since calling Multiple functions definately wasnt helping. Here's my updated code. All Im doing now is validating a single textbox and returning true or false. Even this simple function is causing the postback URL to never get called. Could it have anything to do with the fact that Im trying to call a function to return a true or false?
ive imagebuttons which created in runtime from database and i need to add them onclick or mouseover event but i failed imagebutton.click += new ImageClickEventHandler(imageButton_Click); im adding this when i created imagebuttons, what i need else also i tried javascript but its not firing too;
i have a navigation bar made up of ImageButtons that have their image swapped out on mouse over and back on mouse out. i used this code in the Page_Load handler to do this:
on the code page I have mapped the OnCommand event to the following code
Code:
Protected Sub ImageButton_Command(ByVal sender As Object, _ ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.CommandEventArgs) Try Dim img As ImageButton = CType(sender, ImageButton) img.BorderStyle = BorderStyle.Ridge SortOrder = e.CommandArgument BindData() Catch exc As Exception ProcessModuleLoadException(Me, exc) End Try End Sub
My problem is that by clicking on the image button in the gridview header, the OnCommand event is not being fired. I have tried this with both OnClick and OnCommand and neither fires. I can't see what I am doing wrong if anything.
I am trying to find out what html is generated when a control is rendered. For most controls, the following worked fine: Dim tempbuilder As New System.Text.StringBuilder() Dim tempwriter As New
System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter(New System.IO.StringWriter(tempbuilder)) Dim generatedhtml as String Me.imgImage.RenderControl(tempwriter) generatedhtml = tempbuilder.ToString()
However, when I tried doing it with an ImageButton, I recieved the following error: Control 'ctl00_cphExampleContent_imgButton' of type 'ImageButton' must be placed inside a form tag with runat=server. What can I do to avoid this?
In the following code, you'll see that the method 'getImage' is called and passes in a filepath. I want this filepath to be dependant upon a selection on a previous page- so instead of it constantly being 'properties/cedar', it could be 'properties/eastlodge' for example.
I have a linkbutton whose onclick method does not fire after a jquery drag and drop, the onlclientclick does work. Y would the server side code not work only after a jquery drag and drop?
I have a page with radio buttons and a textarea that populates data dynamically based on your selection. The radio buttons act as a list of article titles and on selection you see the content of the article.
Within my pageload method, I want to allow users to be able to see a URL in their browser that points to value they've. That way they can link to the article within another source.
Currently, the method I have allows me to link to the button selection if I manually type in the following example URLs:
[URL]
[URL]
I'd like to modify this so that the URL appears in the browser when a radio button selection is made. Plus, on page load defaults to the "0" index if no value parameter was specified.
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (!IsPostBack) { int selected; if (int.TryParse(Request.QueryString["selected"], out selected)) RadioButtonList1.SelectedIndex = selected; RadioButtonList1.DataBind(); } } protected void RadioButtonList1_SelectedIndexChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { string strRedirect; strRedirect = "frm_Articles.aspx?selected=" + RadioButtonList1.SelectedIndex; Response.Redirect(strRedirect); }
Normally I use this control on it's own page and the button works. This time round however, I am loading this control into a Div that is present on the home page of my site (that way I can show the contents with a little bit of JQuery). However, when I bring the control in this way, the onClick event doesn't fire and I am not sure what could cause that.
I don't have any code sample but the nature of the site makes it difficult to provide any that would make sense.
In short, what would stop this event firing now?
p.s I have tried adding validation groups to all other buttons and validation controls on the page and there is only ONE form present on the page.
EDIT: I have only just added the validation stuff in to see if that does anything. By default it has been like this and still didn't work:
As mentioned as well, this works when I use this control on it's own page (loaded directly into Default.aspx) so I don't think the case of onClick matters.
EDIT2: I have just noticed that when I click this button, other validation controls on my page are being triggered even though they have their own DIFFERENT validation group?!
I have a textbox which is read only and there is a calendar besides the textbox. When the user selects the date in the calendar pop up, the text in the textbox is populated but it doesn't trigger the text change event. trigger an event when the text is changed on the textbox?
