Web Forms :: Images Not Showing In Nested Master Outside The Root Coding

Apr 14, 2010

I use a Masterpage.master and inside there are two images who are pointing to different pages, which I have coded as follows:

<!-- Header masterpage -->
<td>
<a href="default.aspx"><img src="~/images/hello.jpg" alt="hello1" /></a>
</td>
<td>
<a href="dhc/default.aspx"><img src="images/dhc.jpg" alt="hello2" /></a>
</td>

As you can see, i have two choices to go inside the root folder or inside the DHC folder.
Both folders should get their images from the IMAGE/ folder inside the root.

My problem is as follows:When i'm in the root part, the images of the masterpage.master are shown, but when i'm in the dhc/ folder part the images of the masterpage.master are not shown.

Web Forms :: Nested Master Pages / Images In The Master1 Disappeared

Mar 1, 2011

I am developinga site whichI want to contacin 2 'sub sites' - one for business clients and one for Home clients.

I therefore want to base each 'sub site' on a slightly different master page.

I have a base master calleed master1.master:

[Code]....

I then created a home.master using master1.master as its master:

[Code]....

BUT... on the web page all the contentplace holders are flagged as in error eg 'Could not fine "head" in the current master page or pages' where head is replaced by each placeholderIf I change the MasterPageFile= to point at master1.master the errors go away - but of course I dont have the differences in the page (at the moment just the menu)

I have tried the suggestions in http://forums.asp.net/t/1218788.aspx/2/10 but although the errors go away, the images in the Master1 left column don't get displayed and some of the css seems to disappear

MVC :: Coding In Master Pages / Cant Get The Controller?

Mar 10, 2011

I created this left side Navigation bar and I want to put it in Master page. when i clicked on the shared folder, it created the master page, but along with it gave a code behind file(.cs) file.

Earlier, i created the left Navigation bar in the controller and then I called the view from there. Below is my code. I was wondering if there is any way, I can do the same thing in my master Page. I am confused becuase of the master page code behind file.

My controller name is DataBindingToModel and the code works fine when it is in controller and I call the view from the controller.

[Code]....

and my view is like this

[Code]....

I just want to put this in Master page and I am not sure how to get the controller part done.

Forms Data Controls :: Hiding And Showing A Nested Gridview?

Jan 14, 2010

I have an image button on my gridview in one column, and in the next column, I have a nested gridview. What I am looking to do, is to use my image button as a way to show and hide my nested gridview. I do not want to use JavaScript, because my page already uses a great deal of JavaScript. Therefore, I want to use code behind on the button, this is what I have done so far:

ImageButton b = (Button)sender;
GridViewRow row = (GridViewRow)b.NamingContainer;
if (row != null) {
int rowIndex = row.RowIndex;

How do I use my selected row index to call the nested gridview to be visible and not visible?

Web Forms :: Showing Images On A Webpage?

Aug 20, 2010

I've got a problem with showing images on a page, that i hope someone might help with.

I have two sites like this;

C:WebsitesWebsite - Main Site

C:WebsitesAdmin - Admin site for main site

There is a table in the database that has a link to an image in a folder like this;

C:WebsitesImages - image store

The problem i am having is that when i view the page, the images don't show up. But if connect to the images folder using Windows Explorer then view the page again the images are visible.

Is there a way to have an image store and then all images be availabe to both sites?

I have though about the possibility of using a structure like this; (but i'd rather not)

C:WebsitesWebsite - Main Site

C:WebsitesWebsiteAdmin - Admin site for main site

C:WebsitesWebsiteAdminImages - Image Store

And reference them like this;

Main Site '~/Admin/Images'

Admin Site~/Images

Web Forms :: Images Not Showing Up On Login Page?

guide me if this is what we should be doing or is there any other way to handle the scenario. Also, let me know is there any drawback of this technique.

Web Forms :: Showing Images From A SQL Database With A GridView?

Mar 21, 2010

I'm trying to show images that come from a sql query into a GridView column, the problem is that the best solution found in the web searches the database twice for each row.

This solution says that we have to first create a handler (ImageHandler.ashx),

It will receive the ID of the row that contains the image, and then query the database with that ID.

Then it will finally perform something like "context.Response.BinaryWrite((byte[])dReader["Photo"]);" (in this case the handler uses a DataReader, I guess we could use another approach)

We also have to declare the image column in the markup as:

<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Image">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Image ID="Image1" runat="server" ImageUrl='<%# "ImageHandler.ashx?ID=" + Eval("ID")%>' />
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>

The problem is that, the Grid is bound to a SqlDataSource with a SelectCommand like: "Select ID, Name, Photo FROM Employees", that is already querying the database, then the GridView will execute the handler with the ID in it's query string, so the handler will query the database again for the same row, to extract the image.

Isn't there a way to send the image to the handler, so that it only performs the instruction "context.Response.BinaryWrite..." without having to query the database again?

Web Forms :: Showing Images Located Outside The Website?

Dec 22, 2010

I am developing a web app which uses images. Because there are lots of images, I decided to store them in a location out of the web site, maybe they can reside in a different unit (g:Pictures for example, where g: is a drive that belongs to a disk array which is part of the web site infraestructure).

At the beginning, such pictures were saved in a folder within the web site project so it was easy to show them using the asp:image control's ImageURL property but now that they are outside, things get complicated.

Web Forms :: Get Nested Master Page From Main Master Page

May 30, 2010

I'm trying to dynamically change the look of my main master page depending on what nested master page that the current content page is using .

So for example.

Main master page = main.master
My nested page = nested.master (uses main.master)
content page = content.aspx (uses nested.master)

So in the Page_Load event of main.master I want to add a switch statement that will check to see what nested master page is currently being used by content.aspx, or whatever content page is loaded.

So far I have got

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
string nMaster = //This is the line of code that I am looking for.
switch(master)
{
case "nested.master":
//all my logic here.
break;
}
}

Web Forms :: ScriptManager Uses Website - Root Instead Of Application Root Directory

Jan 27, 2010

I ran into the following issue when trying to run a test website on IIS 7.5 (Windows Server 2008 R2 DatacenterEdition). The web-app is configured to run with framework version 3.5 in a .Net 2.0 app pool. Also the framework 4.0 beta 2 is installed on the server. The application named 'TestPfade' is located under the website's root named 'Default'. It is not only a virtual directory but defined as an application. The folder structure looks like this: The markup of the sole document reads as follows:

[Code]....

When viewed in a browser the image gets shown because the given relative path is correctly resolved to 'images/Lighthouse.jpg' but the paths to the ajax-framework resources also include the application's root folder and therefor aren't found: 'src="/TestPfade/WebResource.axd?d=1bX...' Here is the complete html-source generated:

Web Forms :: An Alternative To Nested Master Pages?

Apr 27, 2010

I have a VS2008 / C# app with about 30 web pages. All of them access a central Master Page and it works well.

I now have a new page to create which will have many, many sub-pages. The hierarchy will look like this:

Master Page
Web Page
Sub Page 1
Sub Page 2
. . .
Sub Page N

Doing a lot of reading, apparently I can turn the "Web Page" into a nested Master Page and then each Sub Page would become a Web Content Form. Just wondering, is this the ONLY approach I have available to accomplish this? Or are there other options?

Web Forms :: Creating An "Absolute Root" Menu In Master Page?

Feb 21, 2011

I am re-vamping an existing website and have several "Sub" directories. I need to have my navigation (not using the .net navigation/sitmenu) but I need my mnus to point to the absolute root of my site in order to go between menu item pages. In other words, my menu is structured like this:

[Code]....

As you can see, the only two pages that are in the Root part of my Project are the Default.aspx page and the Contact.aspx page. This wokrs fine if I am just going to the Home (default) page or the Contact Us page, but of course if I go to the Rose Garden or the Articles pages and then try to go "Home" the page isn't found. I know that using "Absoluteroot" should work to get me back to the root section of my menu, but the only place I have used this is in the BlogEngine. Can anyone plaese point me to a tutiral on how to do this within my own web project?
