Web Forms :: Loading .txt File Into A TxtBox
Sep 30, 2010
I have a TxtBox and a DropDownList. Right now, the DDL contains 3 different items.
[Code]....
Instead of the string "001 was chosen", I would like to be able to load a .txt from the same server as the website, for instance sss/001.txt. So that the content of the txt file is being loaded into SSTLTxtBox.Text.

z'm trying to create a webpage for ticket purchases. When selects an option from a dropdown list and clicks a button, I want them to be taken to the next page where a textbox will be auto-populated with their choice from the dropdown list. For some reason, I can't figure out how to get them to communicate. On Form1 I can get Form2 to open onclick but for some reason, when I put code into pageload for Form2 to pull data from Form1, it won't work. For example, on Form2 I would put the following code under pageload: textbox1.text = Form1.textbox2.text

i am using Master Pages for my site(VS-2005). A page in my site gives user information about a city which he has selected from a drop down list. I want that when a user selects a city's name from a drop down list control, then a particular HTML file of that city should get loaded into that page. The ASP.NET page should remain same but only loaded file should change. If a user has chosen London then the HTML file of London should be loaded, if the selection is Paris then XML file of Paris should be loaded in the same Page. How can I do that ?

I have a HTML file which I want to load, say in a Label control. This HTML file have a series of unordered list, which acts as a vertical menu links for the various sections of the file.Now, I have no idea whether these links, inside the HTML file, will work if I load it on Label control. Is there any other way of doing this ? I want those links to work when the file gets loaded.

I have the following code in my <head>
<% if(Context.User.IsInRole("Reseller")) {%>
<link href="<%: themelocation %>" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<%} else {%>
<link href="<%= Url.Content("~/Content/custom-theme/jquery-ui-1.8.5.custom.css") %>" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<%} %>
The issue is with themelocation, which is declared just above this block of code - like so:
<%
var reseller = new Reseller();
var storeSettings = new StoreSettings();
var themelocation = "";
if (Context.User.Identity.IsAuthenticated)
{
var resellerRepository = new ResellerRepository();
reseller = resellerRepository.GetResellerByUsername(Context.User.Identity.Name);
var storeSettingsRepository = new StoreSettingsRepository();
storeSettings = storeSettingsRepository.GetStoreSettings((int) reseller.StoreSettingsID);
themelocation = storeSettings.Theme.StylesheetLocation;
}
%>
Setting a break point shows that themelocation holds the string I need, but when the page is run - it generates a 400 - Bad Request error, and the net tab in firebug reveals its looking for this:
http://localhost:50982/%3C%:%20themelocation%20%%3E
Where am I going wrong here? Why is it using the variable name, and not what it contains?
I'm using ASP.NET MVC2, and all of this code is located on my master page.

I've deployed a test project onto one of our web servers, and it doesn't appear that the CSS file is taking correctly. The page loads fine, but the styles aren't there. It looked fine in dev, but not now. Any thoughts on what's going on? I'm sure there is an easy solution, but I'm very new to the ASP.NET world.

I am creating a PDF template file and I will want to use that to create other files. I have been looking around and found the following code:
[Code]....
The problem is that pdfreader, pdfstamper, acroreader are underlined and it says it is not declared so I couldn't test it, I wasn't sure what I had to import in order for it to work. In addition, if you have any other way that is easier to use let me know.

I have a JavaScript function which calls a page method as follows:
function openFile(file) {
PageMethods.LoadFile(file);
}
[System.Web.Services.WebMethod]
public static void LoadFile(string fileName)
{
HttpContext.Current.Response.ClearContent();
HttpContext.Current.Response.Buffer = true;
HttpContext.Current.Response.ContentType = "application/binary";
var filePath = @"C:MyFiles" + fileName;
HttpContext.Current.Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", string.Format("attachment;filename="{0}"", fileName));
HttpContext.Current.Response.WriteFile(filePath);
HttpContext.Current.Response.End();
}
The page method throws the following exception:
Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.Net.WebServiceFailedException: The server method 'LoadFile' failed with the following error: System.Threading.ThreadAbortException-- Thread was being aborted.

I've been developing a game using Silverlight 4 and silversprite (http://silversprite.codeplex.com/)
This game is HEAVILY content dependent, using a lot of audio and images. My content folder is around 90 mbs worth of stuff. And because of that, my XAP file is around 60 MB, and takes 5 minutes to download from the website before any user can start playing.
I am using Visual Web Developer 2010 to create my site and load the XAP. Is there a way where I can take content out of my XAP and put it in my ASP.net site project? Or perhaps upload my content files to the site's storage?
This would make my XAP file much quicker to download.

I'm getting back into coding after a seven year absence. Loving it, but everything is taking me so long!Anyway, I'm trying to upload a file from the browser and then read it into an XmlDocument object on the server. Originally I cracked this by saving the file to disk, reading it into the XmlDocument object and then deleting the file. The only problem was that the delete action was trying to take place before the XmlDocument.Load action had completed

Really weird problem loading a file from disk:
string path = HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath("~/Datasets/blob.xml");
FileStream stream = new FileStream(path, FileMode.Open);
Throws exception:An exception of type 'System.UnauthorizedAccessException' occurred in mscorlib.dll but was not handled in user code
Additional information: Access to the path 'D:webrootafobDevv1.0.xAFOBDatasetslob.xml' is denied.
The strange thing is it was working 5 minutes ago. I checked permissions on the disk and both the Debugger and ASPNET have read/write rights as do I.

I have a class library and was to add a resource file to it to support both English and Spanish. Any tips as how I can do this? The language will be dictated by the user visiting the site. Would like to have to only load each resource file once and cache or set in static variable and avoid any overheads.

I embed wmp, swf, and qt in a modalpopupextender. Some of the video files take a long time to load so a given player's window stays empty for too long. I think I should be able to have the player hidden initially and display an animated gif in the modalpopupextender and then when the video files completes loading I'd hide the gif and show the player (or simply manipulate the corresponding z-indexes).

I have update panel on the page to avoid postback and placed a dropdownlist control within that update panel. DrodownList is filled with Category names and also it's autopostback set to True.
Now whenever dropdownlist index change's on select, untill page loads complete data it should show mesage as "Loading.... in center and middle of the page and background should become bit transparent". And when page load completely with data then that background and message should get disappear.
