Whenever there is a configuration error inside the web.config, the server sends a yellow screen of death to the browser with a few lines around it. My problem is I am using impersonation and I don't want the users to see the impersonating username/password. So how can I prevent the server from showing the web.config code??
I have a website that deliveres content from secure source (https://) after the user authenticates. I added a new page where I use an Iframe to display a pdf file. It works fine when I try it from the dev server where I do not get directed from https, but when trying from the actual site I get the error message 'Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?' I understand this is because the Iframe source is not secure (the source file is in the root directory of the webpage) Where should I store the content for the Iframe? Can I use a local directory on the server rather than one in the root directory?
In an ASP.NET WebForms 2.0 site we are encountering an intermittent bug in IE6 whereby a file download attempt results in the contents of the being shown directly in the browser as text, rather than the file save dialog being displayed. Our application allows the user to download both PDF and CSV files. The code we're using is:
This is called from the code-behind click event handler of a button server control. Where are we going wrong with this approach? Edit Following James' answer to this posting, the code I'm using now looks like this:
HttpResponse response = HttpContext.Current.Response; response.ClearHeaders(); // Setting cache to NoCache was recommended, but doing so results in a security // warning in IE6 //response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache); response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename="theFilename.pdf""); response.ContentType = "application/pdf"; response.BinaryWrite(MethodThatReturnsFileContents()); response.Flush(); response.End();
However, I don't believe that any of the changes made will fix the issue.
I have a grid which has three columns FilePath|Open|Download. My scenrio is to track the browsing information of particular file opened or download in XML file. In future i have to read and maniulate the same XML file for reporting purpose.
Each time the browser clicks the Open button or Dowload button i need to insert the details as a new record to xml file in the following format.
<TrackReport> <UserBroswse> <UName> user name </user> <UType> Type </usertype> <Datetime>clicked date time </Datetime> <clickType>opened/Downloaded </Clicktype> </UserBrowse> </TrackReport>
I used the grid RowCommand event to track the linkbuttons CommandName whether it is open or download then we have to do the above scenario based on the button clicks.
I have a dynamic gridview which adds row when the button is click. But I am getting an error in the browser. I managed to run this and get it working but after couple of days working, there's a wierd error occur when I click the add row button.
Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation
I'm having a problem with file streaming where this file is a video that is streamed to a FLV player.
Essential components for understanding the problem:
- An asp.net page called Viewer.aspx that has de FLV player incorporated in the HTML.
- An asp.net page (It could be an http handler but in this case it's not) called Downloader.aspx that gets a flv file from somewhere on the web and writes it to the Response Output Stream.
Everytime Viewer.aspx is called, it makes Downloader.aspx the source of the the FLV player and the video is correclty presented and streamed into the player.
The problem I am having now is that any user interaction with the page (even typing an URL inside the same website domain on the browser address bar) becames hung until the video download ends.
I can measure this video download with HTTP Watch for example, and confirm that just after the video download into the player ends, the command issued by the user is immediately processed (or the browser goes to another page if the user typed a new address in the browser address bar).
I tought that it could be the limit of 2 connections per domain, but HTTP Watch only shows one active connection (the video download into the FLV player).
Even if it was this 2 connections limit, I think a nice solution would be to somewhat detect the user interaction with the page and abort that video download.
I have problem in my asp.net application. I have some file in floder (PDF, .doc, ,txt ) i want to open these files in my web browser .
Now my problem is large PDF files are not opeing in my browser even some less size pdf files are opeing prefectly and other files are also working good.

I have a web app which displays some data in a GridView. This GridView is populated with a method called BindGrid. The user selectes one or more rows from the grid, then clicks the Process button. What needs to happen is that the selected rows are assembled into a CSV file which is downloaded to the browser, then the database is updated to reflect which rows were selected, and the grid is refreshed so the previously selected rows are no longer displayed. This all sort of works, except...
My code is below, which is very similar to lots of snippets found in this forum.
The problem is that if I uncomment Response.End(), or replace it with ApplicationInstance.CompleteRequest, it all works great except none of the code after Response.End() executes, and so the log entry is not made and the grid is not refreshed.
If I comment Response.End(), as in the snippet below, the code following does run, including the log entry and the call to BindGrid. (I know that because log entries inside BindGrid are made.) However, the page does not refresh. If I press F5 to refresh the page, it redraws correctly refreshed.
So the question is, how do I refresh the page after downloading the file?
I have tried calling both Response.Redirect and Server.Transfer after BindGrid
I want to test my site using selenium which is an automated test tool where we have to code, and in my scenario I have excel file which I want to download but on download box there is save button but i want to know how to click on Save button ...

There are bunch of files stored in a DataBase as varbinary/image data. I am writing a program to extract these file data and send them to the browser so file can be opened or saved. My method is,
[code]....
BUT this method creates a file in the Server and then transmit to the browser. Means 100s of files will be created in the server when I open 100s of files with this process, naturally I want to avoid that.
Is it possible to do this without creating a copy of the file in the server ?
