Web Forms :: Update Variable On Master Page From Another Page?

I have some Google Analytics code on a master page that contains a string variable.

Now on my contact page, I want to change the value of that variable depending on whether or not the contact us form was successful or failed due to required fields not being. First I'm setting the value to empty in PreInit.

On pageload I have this, which seems to work fine...this is being set.
[Code]....
Then on button click for sending, if all is well, I am updating the value of the master.VirtualPageview value like this:
[Code]....
Now the weird part. Even though the master.VirtualPageview gets it's value set properly for the success or failure, when the page renders and I view the source, it doesn't have the updated value of
[Code]....
For the life of me, I can not figure out why this is happening. If anyone has had similar issues, or could explain what I'm doing wrong,

I have a master page:
<%@ Master Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" Codefile="AdminMaster.master.cs" Inherits="AlphaPackSite.MasterPages.AdminMaster" %>
Then I have a public variable:
[code]....
Does this make sense? When I try combinations of Master.blnShowDialogue, or blnShowDialogue = , etc etc nothing seems to work.
The name 'blnShowDialogue' does not exist in the current context

I have the master page code behind like this:
public partial class TheMasterPage : System.Web.UI.MasterPage
{
string test = null;
protected void Page_Init(object sender, EventArgs e)
{}
}
When I'm in the Page_Load function in the code behind of the content page, I don't see the variable test as being available. Am I declaring it wrong?

I have a master page (Defstrm.Master) with the following asp.net tag:
<Cloister:Footer id="footerPage" runat="server" addstatistics="true" />
I also have an Asp.net web form "displays.aspx" that uses the master page Def.Master. In the C# code behind file for displays.aspx how can I access the property value "addstatistics" that is defined in the master page?

But i got same error. how I can add to my Update Panel that Button from Content Page can refresh it?

i have my master page with one update panel working like a banner, so when the timer do tick every 5 sec
the image change. That works fine, but i have an update panel in my index page, this update panel works with some buttons that change the text inside the panel when click.
Now, the problem.
When i click one button to change the text and the banner change, the text returns to his default text. The update in master page is affecting the update on index page.

How do I need get the variable in the master page?
1. after Login.aspx get the information of the user
2. redirect to home.aspx
3. in home.aspx, view the info like Label1.text ="Welcome " + varUser;
4. Label1 is located in the master page
5. this varUser will display in all my pages
6. I don't want to use the full Session["var"] (because of expiration)
*in short I just want to get the var in the master page everytime I load a new page

Menu links are in the master page and and the corresponding click events are written in the master page itself. I have only one content page. Data is saved in html form in the DB and that will be rendered to the content page on corresponding menu link clicks. But the problem is content page load occurs before the master page so the content page is blank. Here my code-

LinkContentEnitity linkContent = new LinkContentEnitity();
linkContent = PageController.GetPageContent(linkId);

linkContent contains that content page in HTML form. How can I print this value on content page?

My Project is a normal web site, not a Web Project, and I am using VS 2005.
I am trying to define common Master Page Type in app_code which has an area to display error messages and the like. Very simple.
I added the following in app_code:

Also, I added the following in Master Page Source Declaration:
[Code]....
Also, I added the controls tblrowErrMsg and lblErrMsg as server controls to the Master Page.
Why I am doing this ?
This will allow me to display error messages from nearly any where inside the code in code-behined, app_code, and other core Class Projects (DLL).

In my web application, I have to load different Master pages depending on the user log-in information. When I say different, I mean not just the colors but a whole new look[including navigation options]. So I am using 2 Master pages [one of them is set as default] and depending on the user information the other page will be used.
I got it to work by storing the user information in a Session variable and applying the master page dynamically using the Page_PreInit event. But the issue is, if I hit the back
button, sometimes [yeah, only sometimes !!!] the master page is reset to the default page. Initially I thought it is a Session timeout issue. But it isn't, as some of the session variables still have data. Can anyone explain whats actually happening?

I have a master page setup that is used throughout my site that is basically a header with a menu. I recently added a textbox and a button to this master page which is to be a quick search box that is available anywhere in the site. When a user enters text into the search box and hits the button, I need to load the actual content page which is used to search and show search results (which also uses this same master page), and have the text entered available so the search can be triggered automatically. Again, this search text box and button is now in my master page so it could be triggered from anywhere in the app... it serves as a convenient way to do a basic search from anywhere in my app, without having to first navigate to the actual 'search page' that already exists. You can also navigate to the actual search page, which uses the same master page, where there is many more search options.I'm thrown off by the master page arrangement, which I have not used until this project. What do I do?

I have a master page containing a tree and 3 dropdown lists. I am populating a context menu on right click of each node, and when clicked on any item of the context menu, it navigates to required pages.
My problem is after navigating to the required page, the selected values from the drop down lists and the selected node from the tree are getting cleared.
I can set the selected values for the dropdown lists by making some properties in master page.
But how do i maintain the selected node?
In my content page, i have got the valuepath of the right clicked node.
Or is there any other way than setting the properties in master page?

I'm trying to dynamically change the look of my main master page depending on what nested master page that the current content page is using .
So for example.
Main master page = main.master
My nested page = nested.master (uses main.master)
content page = content.aspx (uses nested.master)
So in the Page_Load event of main.master I want to add a switch statement that will check to see what nested master page is currently being used by content.aspx, or whatever content page is loaded.
So far I have got
