Web Forms :: Validation Not Working For Elements In A Panel?
Mar 12, 2010
I have a panel (say, panel1) inside another panel (say, outer-panel)....The panel1 is visible only when a checkbox is checked in the outer-panel. I am using script manager, update panel and trigger to do this.
Now I have many text boxes in the panel1. I have to put a validation on all the boxes.
I tried to test this by putting validation on 2 boxes and this works fine on my local machine. When I put the same logic on the server, it does not. Of course the page on my local machine has fewer text boxes compared to the page on server. But I do not understand why the same logic works on my local machine and does not work on the server.
The page on the sever is a very long one and also it has a captcha control..... when ever I try not to enter text in one the text boxes which has validation and then hit submit...it redirects me to another page with out prompting for the validation error.
I am using two update panels in a page. Both of them are conditional mode and display when a checkbox is selected. So far it is good. I have few textboxes in the the second panel and I want validations to be set on those text boxes on a condtion, ie if textbox 1 is not empty then textbox 2 's required field validatior should trigger and viceversa. I have written the following logic in the pageload method,
I'm using the ASP.Net Validation controls and I want to display the Validation Summary in a JQuery Dialog instead of the native javascript alert messagebox. I've found this solution (aspsnippets) by overriding the clientside WebForm_OnSubmit() function:
The WebForm_OnSubmit() function is being rendered by the BaseValidator control and in the form tag te following attribute is being added: onsubmit="javascript:return WebForm_OnSubmit();
I am running into a problem on a page which has an UpdatePanel. The input field with the validator (1 to make it simple) is in a Panel within an UpdatePanel. The Panel is set to Visible=False at the first Page Load. There's a button inside the UpdatePanel which makes the Panel with the Validator Visible.
When this happens, the WebForm_OnSubmit() function and the onsubmit="javascript:return WebForm_OnSubmit(); attribute of the form tag are not being rendered because it's an AJAX callback and the form tag is outside the updatepanel (in a master page), so the validation summary will not be shown in the jquery dialog.
Validation is being performed, so the validation summary wil be shown in a div on a page, but the validation is not being called by the WebForm_OnSubmit() function in this case, because it's not being rendered.
So, when the validators are not visible at the first load and they will be made visible by an AJAX callback, the WebForm_OnSubmit() function and the onsubmit="javascript:return WebForm_OnSubmit(); attribute of the form tag are not being rendered on the pag. Because of that, the WebForm_OnSubmit() function will not be called and the validation summary will not be shown in the JQuery dialog (although it is being shown in a div on the page). How can I get the Validation Summary to be shown in de JQuery dialog in this case?
Is there another function that has to be overriden for this case? I know I can use a Full Postback for the New button and then all the stuff needed is being rendered on the page, or I can make the panel not visible by using a style, but I don't prefer that because there are a lot of pages with this situation.
One solution is to use a dummy textbox with a dummy validator (with a dummy validationgroup) of which I set the display to none. Then this dummy validator will cause the the WebForm_OnSubmit() function and the onsubmit="javascript:return WebForm_OnSubmit(); attribute of the form tag to be rendered.
I am creating dropdown controls in code behind. in some conditions I need to add validation control to dropdowlist. But Validation not firing when I submit button.
If mQuestion.RequiredToAnswer = True Then Dim mValidator As New RequiredFieldValidator mValidator.ControlToValidate = mDDL.ID mValidator.InitialValue = mDDL.Items(0).Text mValidator.Display = ValidatorDisplay.Dynamic mValidator.ErrorMessage = "* Required!" mTableCell.Controls.Add(mValidator) End If
I have other dropdown controls on aspx page with validation comtrols. Those are working fine. Only when I ddl and validations from code not working?
i am using the update panel in my application in that i had added 3 dropdownlists, all of them are having the selectedIndexchange event so, once you select any item in the dropdown list i had to some operation, but the problem is that if i change the any dropdownlist in the update panel all the dropdownlists selected index methods are getting called, but what i was expecting is that when i select any item in first dropdonwlist that corresponding selectindex has to be executed not the other ones, so anybody had experienced this kind of problem let me know?
Using MicrosoftMvcValidation.js, it seems like disabled html elements are validated on the client-side. I am not sure how much sense that makes given that such elements will not be submitted by the form and I probably consider it a bug. (By the way, MicrosoftMvcJQueryValidation.js does not validate disabled elements.)
Is there any way I can disable (pun intended) the validation of disabled elements? E.g., assuming I have a reference to an html element in javascript, is there some way I can "remove" it or disable it from the client-side validation machinery?
jQuery validation is working fine on my machine, when i pushed it to test server it won't it's throwing some errors which is kind of surprising. These are the errors I am getting: $.validator is null or not an object...I've never gotten this error before and it throwing an error when I declared a variable like var isValid.I don't know what to do. I am doing the custom validation methods not in the document.ready(). Does this cause this error? I wonder because all jquery validations are passing and hitting the server side validations.
I'm new to the world of Update Panels and i'm having a hard time figuring out how to use them properly.
I have a form that has a table(TABLE1)...and inside TABLE1 i am linking to a sql data source....at the bottom of the table i have a 'Add' button.
When the user clicks the add button...a modal popup appears (POPUP1) and inside the POPUP1 the user can click a link that can add a user...when the link button is clicked...a panel within POPUP1 is set to visible = true.
I have one update panel around the whole table and the add button...when i click add and then click the link to add a user....the modal popup disappears.
I hv taken 2 panels one for School transport detail , the other for Personal Transport detail.
The validation controls are different for the panels. When selecting 1st panel the other gets disable and on clicking Save button the error msg of 1st panel appears if not entering proper values. But when 2nd panel I am selecting and without entering any value clicking Save button it still giving error msg of 1st Panel yet it is disabled.
I want to load a popup when a user clicks a button. The buttons are images located inside a tabpanel. The first time the page is loaded the helpEvents DOES display the popup and the 'click' popup. Then I navigate to Tabpanel tab2, and the helpTickets button doesnt work (doesnt even display the 'click' popup) Then I navigate back to Tabpanel tpEventDetails, and the helpEvents button doesnt work anymore either(and also doesnt even display the 'click' popup anymore) So I think something gets lost in the updatepanel on callback...but what? and how to fix it?
I have a text box and some validation on it. I want to make a panel visible only when
it is successfully validated,i.e.,textbox entry is valid. Also,I want to capture the entered valid value(it should be integer within 1-8) in a session, based on this number,I am going to add that many rows in an editable grid view.
I could also write every validation for each object separately, I have only a few elements who uses a required validation but it would be nice that I could do this in one shot instead of repeating the $("input").rules("add .....
I have...a dynamic populated select box several input boxes a submit button form fields are loaded initially using cookies several dynamic populated divs
I want... start loading the content of my DIVs after all FORM elements have been loaded completely (= filled with data, select boxes are populated)
I am using .net 4.0 on my localhost and i have a form with some textbox and file uplaod controls, for validation i have used various validation controls and a regular expression for validating image format. the web page is working fine at my side ,but when i upload it on server (Godady) and when my client uses the webpage,it just dont work the way it should. Is there any thing that is keeping the validation not work.
I have a asp.net page with a text box to enter the zip code.I use requiredField Validation for this zip code text box.I use asp:ImageButton to navigate back and forth from this screen. My problem is if i enter an invalid zipcode( or blank), it will stop the post back and shows the error message if i use BACK button (image button). But it just post back and go to the next screen IF i click the forward image button!
I have implemented a validation for the file upload control such that, only when some entry is made in the file upload control textbox, the Upload button will be enabled else it wil be disabled.
When I implemented this , the validation on the Upload button is not working. For the upload button I need to check certain fields are not empty. But I find that because of the above implementation, the validation function for this one is not working .
I have applied some asp validation controls on a page ,but on clicking Save button data is getting saved without throwing any validation . But as I am entering data for the next time and then click save button then it's working.
