View 4 RepliesI'm in a bit of a pickle here. I'm Binding the name of file to a LinkButton and intending to open that file on the LinkButton' click. I have the LinkButton in the TemplateField of a GridView control. Below is the code I'm using : And the Event Handler goes like : protected void GridView1_RowCommand(object sender, GridViewCommandEventArgs e) { if (e.CommandName.Equals("goto")) { fileToOpen = e.CommandArgument.ToString(); Response.Redirect(path + fileToOpen); } }
View 3 RepliesI have an issue that I've spent quite a bit of time trying to solve. I have a Detailsview and a Gridview that I have linked using the ID field, It has now been decided that they want to have individual pages for each Unit. I have this working for the most part, however the detailsview is not being displayed until I hit select the row in the gridview.
How do I get this to automatically display on page load?
I just inherited an ASP.NET WebForms web application that I was tasked with refactoring. One of the features is a file upload and while debugging I noticed that as soon as a file is posted to a certain page/handler, it is automatically uploaded to the root directory of the application. The file is then moved to the proper location. I can't seem to figure out whats causing this automatic upload of the file. Is there something I'am overlooking in ASP.NET WebForms that allows this to happen? Is it an IIS configuration or something?
View 1 RepliesI have two url links (Link1 and Link 2) and one image link. Is there a way that when I click on Link1, the image url link will change to whatever the link is in Link1 and vice versa when I click on Link2? I am using c#.
For example I click Link 1, I want the href for the image link to become "http:yahoo.com"
<a href="http:yahoo.com">Link1</a>
<a href="http:google.com">Link2</a>
<a href="Link1"><img src="image.gif"></a>
I want to download images from third-party server. for that third-party provide url link for each page.
samples are provideded below.
[URL]
when click on each link it will give an image in browser window.
i want to store each image automatic in server.
I'm adding hotkeys to a web application in order to enable keyboard shortcuts for our CSRs to use, to reduce injury and increase calls-per-hour. I'm using an ASP.net UserControl to inject javascript into the page and it's working great. I want the control to "just work", so that when hotkeys are assigned, using a declarative syntax, if the hotkeyed letter exists in the link text, it will be highlighted automatically, so the developer doesn't have to do anything, and also to maintain consistency in visual cues. Here's the code to assign hotkeys, if it matters:
<uc:HotKeysControl ID="theHotkeys" runat="server" Visible="true">
<uc:HotKey ControlName="AccStatus$btnInvoiceEverBill" KeyCode="ctrl+v" />
<uc:HotKey ControlName="AccStatus$btnRefund" KeyCode="ctrl+u" />
<uc:HotKey ControlName="thirdControl" KeyCode="ctrl+p" />
</uc:HotKeysControl>
I want something like:
<a href="whatever" name="thirdControl">Make a <span class=hotkey">P</span>ayment</a>
but I'm not married to the idea of injecting a <span/> in there if there's a better way. How can I do this in CSS or JQuery? Is there a way to pass in a letter to a CSS style and have it change the color of the text displayed? Should I generate javascript to highlight the text when the page loads? What would/did you do in this situation?
By default, links are created without the forward slash suffixed to the end. It is per our company standards to always have this trailing slash. Is it possible, via a configuration or whatever, to automatically have a forward slash whenever these methods are called?
View 2 RepliesI am having trouble wiht my AJAX collapsible Panel Extender. I have the CPE opening a panel that contains the Table of Contents of a document being displayed on the page. A user clicks on the link for a certain part of the document, the event triggers a C# function that gets the file that particular section is contained in an displays the section. Right now you have to, of course, click on the TitlePanel to open and to close the CPE. What I want to do is have it close automatically whenever a link inside the content panel has been clicked. I have tried placing this.cpeTOC.Collapsed=true; in the functiion that gets the files but it does not work. I have also tried the autocollapse property of the CPE and it just collapses whenever someone moves thier mouse from the titlepanel.
View 1 RepliesI am having problem redirecting error when error is http 500 or http 403 locally running this site there is no problem it gets redirected to my errorpage.aspx. But when deployed at server, it does not get .tried putting try and catch in page_load and in global.asax and I have set Application_Error to redirect to that page and also set <customErrors defaultRedirect to that page also
error
statusCode="500"
redirect="/errors/errorpage.aspx?error=500"
/>
I am trying to use a custom image for my textbox controls. In Photoshop I used an inner bevel. The only way I can find is to use the CssClass property and then use background-image in css. Problem is the text appears a few pixels to the top right in the box and is not very readable with the shadow. I need to center the text in the textbox. How can I do that?
View 3 RepliesI my web application I perform a time-consuming asynchronous operation. For this, I need to inform user before it starts and after it ends. The latter works as expected, but I cannot make GUI change before asynchronous operation starts. Here is the code snippet:
protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{

I do not want to change the default settings for file upload, 4Mb is more than enough for the project I'm working on. After quite a bit of searching I found two approaches that were purported to work but neither one is preventing the "Maximum request length exceeded" error. The first approach[see ref. #1 below] performs validation with a custom validator and in code behind on the page that contains the FileUpload control. It doesn't work. The second approach [see ref #2 below] performs validation in the Application_BeginRequest event in Global.asax. The author stated that validation must be handled by this event. Quoting: "The way to get past is to use your Application_BeginRequest event to handle the problem.. This event takes place for each request to your application BEFORE the data has been completely uploaded. Here you can check for the content length of the request and then redirect to the some error page or the same page with some value in session or query string so that the page can show appropriate message to the user." Here is my code from Golbal.asax based on the above. As noted, this approach doesn't work either.
protected void Application_BeginRequest(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
const int maxFileSize = 4 * 1000000; // Slightly less than 4Mb
if (Request.ContentLength > maxFileSize)
{
Response.Redirect("~/FileUploadError.aspx");
}
}
One comment by a reader of the Global.asax approach was that the value returned by Request.Content.Length would include everything on the page, i.e. viewstate, image and text content, etc. I suppose one work-around would be to set the limit higher in web.config but validate for max. file size in code behind, but that seems kind of silly because I'm manipulating the uploaded files (images) to reduce the size anyway; storage space isn't the issue, performance is. Has anyone managed to solve this poblem?
I have a small table that has ratings for a album let's say.
Instead of showing the rating from 1-4 I want to show start instead
Rating 1 the 1 star
Rating 3 3 stars
Rating 0 no star
etc.
I have an tiny int field in the table and I will make a drop down list to allow 0-4
Currently I have a list view to show the list of comments and ratings but not sure how to convert the 0-4 from tiny int to a the same amount of stars

Here is my requirement -
1. I need to load a user control on link click event of a link button during postback of aspx page.
2. On button click event of a save button on that aspx page, I need to read the selected values from that user control on further postback.
If I write the loadcontrol code in link_click event, the control is not recognized at all in the button_click event. When I shift it to page_init and execute only during not postback, the user control loads with default values.
As the title says, I wan't to run some code when the application starts. I have a vague idea that there is probably an event in the application life cycle but I am a bit unsure and could do with pointing in the right direction. So how do I make code run when the application starts?
View 5 RepliesI have some controls, textboxes, etc with RequiredFieldValidators attached. When they are visible from page load, they work fine.
However, I want to start them as invisible, and on a button click, make them visible. The onclick event sets the controls to visible, but the Validators won't fire.
When I use WatiN to go to a specific web page, how can I fake the HTTP referrer with a query string (i.e. request is from google search with query string q=search_term)? So I can verify that the response header has the 301 redirect for specific referrer URL.
