I have applied nested master page to some page. Now i want to bind drop downlist from value selected in dropdown list in master page of master applied to that page.
the hierarchy of pages is
mypage.aspx -> main.aspx -> inner.master
I want bind dropdown list in mypage.aspx from from value selected in dropdown list in inner.master
Is it possible filtering a list in a content page by a value set in its master page? I mean when a user clicks on a link button in master page a variable is set and then based on the value that variable, when loading a content page, a list in it is filtered?
View 1 RepliesI have a drop down list embedded in a menu panel in my master page. This ddl fetches it's list items from my SQL Server. They are:
1. Select a type --appended during page load
2. Green type -- fetched from SQL server via a datasource
3. Red type -- fetched from SQL server via a datasource
4. User Manual -- appended during page load
For the sake of simplicity my website has 4 pages. When the 'Select a type' list item is selected - the user should be taken to a general 'Introduction' page. When the 'Green type' - the user should be taken to a 'Green' page - and etc.
My project has the following repeater menu shown on the Master Page. I need this menu to remain hidden until the user logs in. How do I access from content page?

I created a Site.Master page for my website. On the site.Master page I created a header that holds a dropdown list of companies. I was hoping that this dropdown list would be available to all pages, however the first page I made was a page with a grid view. I wanted to use the header dropdown list as one of the parameters to fill the gridview. That option does show up. I have all of the control on that actual page available to bind to, but not the Site.Master page.

I recently added a textbox and a button to this master page which is to be a quick search box that is available anywhere in the site. When a user enters text into the search box and hits the button, I need to load the actual content page which is used to search and show search results (which also uses this same master page), and have the text entered available so the search can be triggered automatically. Again, this search text box and button is now in my master page so it could be triggered from anywhere in the app... it serves as a convenient way to do a basic search from anywhere in my app, without having to first navigate to the actual 'search page' that already exists. You can also navigate to the actual search page, which uses the same master page, where there is many more search options.I'm thrown off by the master page arrangement, which I have not used until this project. What do I do?

I am not using any Content Place Holder or Master Page (does the error refer to the Site.Master file because while I can see it in. Solution Explorer, I never use it. All of my aspx files look like this along the top with no reference to Site.Master:

I have a master page with a form on it. It's a people search form. When the user clicks on the search button it goes to the search results page that uses the same master page. With the code below I get the info off the master of the current page. Howdo I grab that info from the first page?

View 3 RepliesHere is my situation: I have a user control that has a menu in it. This user control sits on my master page. It is my main navigation menu for my application. I am having an issue where, on one of my pages, users seem to be leaving the page before committing all changes to the database, which results in a loss of data. So what I want to accomplish is - if the user is leaving this page and the data has not been saved yet, I want to prompt the user and say something like "The information is not yet saved, are you sure you want to leave this page" in a modal popup. So my approach is this: In my menu user control, create an event handler called MenuClicked that is raised when the menu web control's (in the user control) MenuItemClicked is raised, I raise my custom MenuClicked event. Then on my master page, I can catch this event in NavMenu_MenuClicked. My problem is - I need to catch this event in my content page, not the master? Am I approaching this correctly?

But when I try to work with this page using MasterPage, I've got an error - "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." (with reference to the line "aControl.BackColor=Drawing.Color.White" - underlined).

I have one master page that is used to gather information from a user. It contains asp.net labels and textboxes within a table. For example, the master page contains fields for Name , Phone, Address, etc.
There are content pages that are created to add to the information that needs to be gathered. For example, the content page, Loan Application, could ask for Loan Amount, LTV, etc.
In addition to this, certain content page forms do not need to show a particular master page field. For example, the content page may not need to ask for Phone.
The table rows are stored as public properties in the master page so I can hide them in the content page code behind.

The functionality works perfect, but I don't like how the space is reserved on the page. You can tell that a row was removed. I've tried style="border-collapse:collapse" on both the <table> and <tr> elements. I've also tried to set the row height as a public property and alter that.
