Jul 31, 2010I want to upload images in to a folder in my project and save the URL in the database.
When you add a record into my database you provide title, date added and some other details and there it a file upload control which you browser to a image and it saves the image to a folder in my project, it all works, the record is added and the image is uploaded into the folder, but the problem I have is that there is no link from the record to the image, there is no URL path saved in the record. How do I save the image in the folder and save the URL of the image to the record?
I'm using details view to insert the records and using grid view to view the records.
Bin Folder Is Not Included In The Project?
Jan 15, 2010I am working on my company's website and when I get the project from the Source safe and compile it. It compiles and run's fine.
But how come the Bin folder is not included in the project and how come my application is still running fine.?
Don't the BIN folder needs to be included my doing the right click on the BIN folder and including it in the project.?

Oct 31, 2010I have upload control on my asp.net page. I upload pictures in folder cars and they show in windows explorer when I open that folder (cars), but in Visual Sudio they act like they not include in project ( that is the reason why they don't show on image control which point to some of them. Image having a photo as an image and wanting to put number blobs on and each number blob refers to a piece of text almost like labelling photo. I know how to drag and drop images using jquery but not sure how I would save the thing as a new image.

C# - Migrating From Website Project To Web Application Project In Visual Studio 2010 Causing All Controls To Throw Error?
Mar 29, 2011I recently updated my VS2010 website project from .NET 3.5 to 4.0. Everything was working fine in the website project. Today I decided to migrate the website to a web application project as I have learned this is the best way to work in .NET. I split out all my class files into a separate class library and copied all my other content into my new project. Then I updated all the references and web.config.
When I build the class library, everything works great. The problem is happening when I try to build/debug the web application project. It is acting like all the controls are missing and it is also throwing a bunch of compile errors about the public properties I have in my master pages.
Control errors: "The name 'INSERT CONTROL NAME HERE' does not exist in the current context"
Master page errors:'System.Web.UI.MasterPage' does not contain a definition....
It is giving these errors for every single control and master page property in my entire solution.I notice when I add a new web.form to this project, it also adds a filename.aspx.designer.cs file in addition to the .aspx and .aspx.cs file. My existing files do not have these extra files since they were created in a different .NET version.
UPDATE: It seems I was missing the step where I need to right click on the new application folder and select "Convert to web application". I just did that and it seems to be a little bit better...
Now it is choking on Literals that are inside single quotes:
<div class='<asp:Literal ID="CssClassLiteral" runat="server"></asp:Literal>'>
It doesn't see this literal when it does the conversion... Is the above valid code or should I implement that functionality another way?

Jun 14, 2010I have been debating back and forth between using a database or the file server to store images for users. Finally when I decided to use the file server I found it difficult. What I am trying to do is give a user the option to save multiple profile pictures. I have looked all over for tutorials on how to save to the file server but could find nothing related. Essentially what I would like to do is create folders for each user and their images. I am having no luck. Does anyone have example code or links to what I am looking for?

Jul 22, 2010I'm working on a new C# web application in Visual Studio 2010, and am having problems reading a value in Web.Debug.Config from the GLobal.asax.cs file.
In the Application_Start event I've got the following code:

I also tried:

And in the Web.Debug.Config file I have the following:

And I tried having it in a file path, like so:

When running in debugger, I've got a break-point in the Application_Start event in Global.asax.cs. It hits the break point, but in all cases the value coming back from ConfigurationManager is coming back null. What am I doing wrong?

Feb 24, 2011I had to move an asp.net website from Windows 2003 to another server with Windows 2008. Now when I run the website after setting everything up the images will not load. It is a logo that is in a folder named Images. The file is there along with the folder just like on the other site. Any reason this would not work now? Everything else is working except images. Aug 30, 2012I'm having trouble with my .png images. I use them as buttons with rounded corners with transparency, so that the corners are round and the "outer corner" shows the background. Well a basic round button I guess. The problem I have is that the images are blurry.
Is there some setting I should know about? I tried using .gif instead, but then the corners aren't smooth.
